Environmental reasons .
Most people who live in plains are tall while the once in the mountains tend to be short . In the plains you need to be tall to see further while in the mountains you need to be short so you will not get tired climbing the mountains . Most kurds also have stronger lower body than the upper body which tend to be skinny in most cases .

It's genetics and nutrition.
None of the Middle Eastern nations are as huge as the North and West European nations, also, many of the children in war regions are malnutritioned.

The biggest deciding factor regarding height are genetics, tall parents often mean tall children.
But external factors also play a big role, the Dutch used to be one of the shortest of the Europeans in the past (like, 1 or 2 centuries ago), now they're the tallest of the world. Among the Dutch, the intake of dairy products is very much encouraged for kids, and their life quality is also very high, hence they've grown so tall.

To summarize:
-Genetics;
-Nutrition (balanced, with lots of protein and calcium);
-Sufficient amount of sleep;
-Sport.

Sleep is so important because that's when the body recuperates and does much of the growing.
Sport keeps the body conditioned, and because the human body tries to adjust to the conditions under which it's put, it'll try to become bigger and stronger for people who sport a lot, also, Human Growth Hormone is produced when sporting, especially more explosive, fasters sports (I believe).

If one takes a look at the new generation of countries which were traditionally short or average, one can see a very significant difference when comparing to the older generation. Look at Japan for example; by Western standards they're still short, but the difference between the old and newer generation is pretty big.
Also, take a look at the Turks, also pretty average, but a part of the new generation has grown quite tall (although quite some are still pretty short).

Among Kurds it also varies greatly by region and tribe, since we've traditionally been rather endogamous (marry within society/region).

Hence, newer generations will probably be taller, with proper nutrition and the likes will become taller; but whether our 'genetic ceiling' is as high as the Euros is still to be seen.

Oh, there's another reason; sexual selection.

Among Kurdish families, the women were often married off. Since they had no choice in the man they married, they could not choose the one that was physically the most desirable. Therefore, 'short genes' were kept in the gene pool.

One last thing; in modern warfare a tall physique is not always desirable; short bodies need less food to fuel, are easier to find cover for, and make smaller targets.

Its insane if you are comparing Europeans with the Middle Eastern's! :D

European people are made by hand, whereas Middle Eastern's people are left overs. :D

No and no.

On average, taller persons are more succesful and smarter than their short counterparts.
People are also more prone to elect taller leaders; they are automatically more respected. If one takes a look at the American presidents for example, one can not only see that they are almost always above average in height, but, the tallest candidate often wins. That's not to say that a short person can't be a great leader though.

its exactly the opposite Bro. Kurds living int he mountains are usually taller yet Kurds in plains are shorter. This is also the case in the rest of the world. The most mountains Region like (Ex Yugoslavia) have one of the tallest people.

Napoleon's short height is a myth, he was 1,70m, a perfectly average height for his time.
Same with Hitler, he was around 1,73m, pretty average.
Stalin and Churchill were a tad below that; but I don't know if they would have been considered short though.
