I personally wouldn't marry a girl that had a boyfriend, especially if it wasn't with a kurd. The situation in the article is a joke though, and unfortunately leads to many lives being ruined, not just the girls. A whole family will be looked down upon if their daughter gets shamed and they think killing her will solve that. I'm not sure how these "tests" work, but they can't be too accurate.

lol kak talsor, if a girl has had 20 boyfriends, heck even 10 you shouldn't even be talking to them. I would like to know kak Brendar's opinion on this, would he be ok with his future wife having 10 ex bf's?

I agree cousin to cousin marriage needs to be stopped, but i heard the chances of deforms are about the same as that of a non cousin marriage, maybe a bit higher.

Just testing the water heval and trying to encourage members to talk by presenting such extreme scales  .Most of us are fairly liberal with our thoughts , but I think we under estimate the impact our culture have on us when it comes to issues like that .

I'm skeptical in that regard too and if this was the case then we should have at least 20% of Kurdistan population deformed or retarded . It normally happen if both parents have the same weak gene , so it could happen with any two couple .

I personally wouldn't marry a non virgin girl bcoz she must keep her legs crossed if she is decent enough she would to keep it for her husband it's the best gift a women can give to her hubby, if man can do it so can women .

I know many young girls here In Australia have multiple kids and some don't know the father and some don't have kids but I personally would feel disgusted if she has slept with one person even sorry that is a no go zone and I am open minded person but this is just wrong and kani you should not defend this bcoz that is not what our women are like back home thank god.

And I am against honor killing though I'd just leave her and the hell with her , If she is a family member you just simply stop talking and visiting (disown) but killing is not up to us to do .

Preiously, its nothing to do with religious, its purely cultural we Kurds shouldn't accept such things. Of course not to the extremes of this case, that is just backward, but in general.

i would of course prefer a virgin. but i still find it stupid all this blood first night thing. it is so stupid, cuz it comes because of a membrane that can disappear by almost any activity. even if the girl have never had sex,the blood may not come

Yes , but why is it ok to sleep with her and not Ok to marry her ? and if you were certain that she would not leave you would you still be OK marrying here ?

No don't get me wrong, I didn't mean that it is ok to sleep with her. I meant that a woman may do whatever she wants, meaning that she should not be killed (honor killing) or sth like that because of the fact she had had multiple boyfriends.

Marrying is a whole other subject to me, and I would not marry someone that had had 10 boyfriends or so prior to marriage, even though if I would be certain she would not leave me.

I would not for one reason. I would be just another guy in her list. 1-3 prior partners is ok depending on the reason she left them. many kurdish women dont dare leave their abusive husbands for fear of not getting married. That is really sad.

So make the point and now imagine a woman has nt to fear for getting married , How long do you believe will it take that the first Kurdish Girls start to have 3o Boyfriends like in European countries. With all respect. I believe A woman who is not virgin should not be killed or something like that and she should still have a chance to marry (if someone wants to marry her) but she should be honest and dont play the virgin while she is not. I know some Turkish, Kurdish Girls. Who had 1 time sex well usually I would say it was a mistake probably But I know them and know that they did know, this would have a bad ending for them, still they probably thought "who cares I will find some idiot tell him that it was a mistake and he is going to marry me" today they are like hungry cats on the search for some food while all the other Girls have a partner are engaged or already married. From personal experience I can tell you that most non virgin muslim girls did it with boys they were not longer together than a month, simply out of fun and try to be "cool". If I knew a Girl wasnt virgin after having sex with someone with whom she was in a very long and serious (going to marriage) relation. I would probably think twice about it and dont take it that serious. However today its not the case in most cases.

Thanks for pointing the social ramification of having multiple partners in women's future . Most feminists tend to ignore the fact that traditions and culture is an accumulative experience of humanity and that rules and conducts are there for a very good reason .

If we follow your rules which have been implemented in western country We will end up in a society of single mothers and fathers with divorce rate reaching 60% in some countries .I'm not even going to bother talking about the social problems these single fathers/mothers/children face/will face in the future .

The term " honour is not between the women leg " is the most ridiculous feminist concept I have heard in my entire life . There such a thing as social norm and if we ignore that to satisfy the feminist agenda of striving to complete and total equality which might feel empowering to feminists , but it has a disastrous consequences as well . The idea of a woman doing who/how/where/ she wants to is laughable and frankly encouraged by even some men in the west to temporarily get what they want .

There no such thing as equality between men and women , there is just differences .

Thats rubbish, we have to face the fact cousin marriages are common amongst Kurds, not sure about first cousin marriages, which I disagreee with, but the rest fairly common. The middle-east is genetically really diverese, Europe is probably more inbred than we'll ever be, whether you think it or not.

I thought you were going to say Liberal politically, I would of switched on you Kak Talsor :-D F*** Liberalism, and feminism in my opinion is actually anti-women. Just take practically all the western europeancountries for example. All feminists society, one thing in common birthrates decling, and none of them give a crap about their culture. Even Russia which isn't really a feminist society, but I've heard the native Russian population will be extinct in 300 years, due to the fact women aren't having children. Not sure if its true though. Equality is one thing, but liberal feminist BS is another. Thats why I support parties like PKK and PJAK, who are very representitve of that. If you think about it we treat women much more equally in the army, since we are probably the only army in the world that lets women fight.

  Forget about birthrate , frankly in the western society women have lost their identity due to feminism movement and they are not too sure what they are any more . who is the man and who is the woman , who works who does not , who take care of children , who cooks , who cleans , who and who and who ....it is a big mess .
I love our Kurdish society in that regards where rules and obligations between men and women are fairly defined and understood .
