Disappointing to be honest . I have seen much more beautiful girls than those in Kurdistan , but unfortunately our society is too conservative and will never allow their daughter to participate .

Did Northern Kurdistan Participate ? If not I think they should and It will make the event bigger and better .

What is wrong with that? If I have a sister I also would not let her to participate in such events. If others want they can do it, but I would not let my sister or daughter to go on the stage with a mini skirts or what ever.

A conservative society is better than a liberal society like in Thailand or east europe, where the girls are famous for prostitution worldwide. Do you really want to sell conservatism from all parts of the kurdish society, to form a full left and liberal kurdish society?

Beauty pageants have nothing to do morality or mini skirts and could be done in a tasteful way . Time have changed and liberty is a reality for women ,It is something we all have to learn to deal with sooner or later . Kurdistan will never be thailand or eastern Europe because the root of their problem is economic among other factors .You think being a conservative society will prevent woman from acting up or being prostituted ? Go to Syria and see how many neighbourhood are dedicated to Iraqi muslim prostitutions .

A lot of girls on Facebook made bad comments about her looks specially the Sulaimani pages according to her , she replied to them saying "if you are all so beautiful and instead of been keyboard heroes why didn't you all have the courage and take part ? I didn't stop you all ! And the competition is not just based on face , it's based on height , A long face ,long hair , straightness of body , thin fingers , education , intelligence , must not be convicted before etc"... I have to agree with her on this one .

LOL
Those who say she is ugly, why didn't they sign up for the competition? Swear by god they don't look as good as her. However in a stupid society as ours the firts one will always suffer the most.
I signed up for the competition but I didn't get to the finals althought I am 177cm. The secret is this women is very smart and intelegent. She knew what she wanted while other contestants were there just for fun (like me).
I am VERY proud of her for beeing the firts miss kurdistan and I hope she will do good this year.Btw,she speaks kurdish, norwegian, english, spanish, german and french. How many kurdish women can speak so many languages, huh?

About beauty pageants,it's not just about how good looking the contestants are,as Shene says it has many factors too.
And I am a bit disappointed that miss kurdistan can't join international beauty pageants like Miss World and Miss Universe.
Hope the people respect her and be proud of her,she is worth the title.

Rando no they can't
This girl was one of the judges in Miss kurdistan pageant and not a contestant. All the contestants have to be kurdish for attending the miss kurdistan beauty pageant.....

Kerkuk is multi cultural city , and it might be a private school bcoz i have done 1-12 and it is all in kurdish , that is for Erbil Suli and Duhok , while in Kerkuk too its kurdish arabic .

things might have changed now but back then school in SK was alot harder then what you study in europe.

ok hold back dear , many "kurds" do not speak these languages , if your talking about the old generation yes they speak arabic and if your are an old person from "kerkuk" then yes you speak Kurdish-arabic-turkmani .

but the new generation is only speaking kurdish and English and this is all needed , and the "government schools" are only in kurdish and arabic is optional not compulsory . so get your info right pls these are sensitive issues be 100% sure then write them up :-D ;).

i know they teached these lessons at school they don't learn it out of nowhere.
i don't know if you concider 20 years old because even my nephew can speak these.
and most of the kurds can speak arabic yes just those who grew up in europe probably can't.
i even remmember my 14 year cousin speak farc before and their parents didn't even teach him.
i know when i go to kurdistan i see many of them able to speak these.
i know what i see and hear.
they could all speak these languages and they are kurd.
i know they teached these languages at school.
i'm not saying they all can speak but some do.

i know exactly what i am talking about as i grew up in Kurdistan but you did not ;) .

if you hear ppl speak turkmani that means they are from kerkuk and no they dont teach that in schools either , if you are from kerkuk and you grew up there you will speak kurdish-arabic-turkmani.

if you are from other 3 provinces then you only speak kurdish and maybe some arabic they have learned from watching serials on lebanese channels , otherwise there is "no arabic teaching" in kurdistan schools , if i am wrong then prove it please , do just make things up next time bcoz you "heard some young kids speak some language" .

there are few turkish and now 1 persian private schools in Kurdistan , but there is no arabic schools in kurdistan bcoz we do not need to know these languages , the older generation speak arabic and yes kerkukis speak all three , but they do not teach "turkamni" in schools not even in kerkuk .
