We have to remember that hes the Iraqi president and he speaks as an iraqi president who represents all iraqi citizens. I mean if the iraqi president talks about kurdistan independence then, the whole countries around iraq will be against him. Anyway, without dreams, you will not achieve anything and every country had dreamed of their country before the creation. As Martin Luther king said " I have a dream". So we kurds have a dream too, nothing is wrong with that. He shouldn't have said that but what can we do!!!

At a meeting of Iraqi Governing Council on 9/2/2004, the Secretary-General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Iraq's President Jalal Talabani said Kirkuk is an undivided part of Kurdistan region and its border started from Hamrin Mountains.

President Talabani gave documented historical evidences to maintain the truth of his speeches about Kurdistan. Raising the evidence is now considered as a historical event for the people of Kurdistan in which no Arab could deny the truths.

President Talabani called on the Governing Council members to work together in order to restore the rights for the Kurds and Turkmen in the city of Kirkuk who were displaced by Saddam Hussein's regime.

Talabani reaffirmed the need to back the rights of the Kurdish people in Kurdistan region in accordance with the law and it would be discussed by the Council.

Shia Alliance in the iraqi parliament confirm their support for the project as their lands were also taken by force and its time they are returned to the administrative boundaries in 1968.
Ala Talabai an MP from KB told (Kurdistan nwe): according to the constitution , the Iraqi Pres. has the power to revert the administrative boundaries back to their origin status in 1968 which were done during the Ba'ath ruling, specilly Chamchamal , Kalar , Kifri and Khurmatoo, at the moment the project has been submitted to the parliament to be voted on, but as the KB we have formed groups to discuss the project with the other parties and this is important, because in the past few times the Pres. submitted the project but his 2 former deputies kept rejecting it by using the power of veto .

Regarding which parties will vote to pass the project Ala said "majority of Iraqiya list oppose the project specially Saleh Mutlaq , and this required political discussions , but the SLC , National Alliance and the Sadrists dont oppose to vote on the project", she said once the project is passed thus (70%) of article 140 have been implemented , and the kurdish population will rise again in Kirkuk , as the sliced off area's administrative boundaries will return onto Kirkuk.

Hassan Jihad on the Kurdistan Bloc (KB) told Knwe "the project submitted by the pres. is his duty and has to be passed , the project will include the disputed areas because back in the day their administrative boundaries where changed , and there was political hands behind these changes , and its unlikely the entire parties in the parliament vote on its passing , therefore presenting in parliament needs a lot of beforehand discussions and agreements and as KB we have our own project , and our problem is the Iraqiya list , but the list have asked us to give them support for their autonomy in Salahadin and we have done so and now we are asking for the favor back , because iraq is now based on agreements and its ok to have different opinions , but we insist on having the project passed and the SLC have reinstated their support for the project as its a constitutional project .

Burhan Muahamad Faraj an MP in the Iraqi parliament on KB said "The project could have been submitted a long time ago , but back the his Pres. 2 deputies had the power of veto so he couldn't submit it to parliament but the project is constitutional and we confirm our full support for it and no 3rd parties has the right to oppose it and if they do then they are violating the constitution .

he then said kurds have to alliance with the Shia block and the PM , because the Iraqiya list is against the project , but there is problem between Salahadin province and Baghdad , and after the project is passed we will reach the final stages of article 140 , we will no longer wait for this because our land has been occupied from us .

as for your post , he spoke as "an iraqi president" not as Kurdistan president , our president is Barzani and he has promised for a Kurdish state when time is right . and Barzani has killed many kurds himself during the "civil war" so now we should call him a dog ? it was a mistake and will never be repeated .

Talabani gave a speech yesterday due to the Newroz celebrations and announced : "some parties , semi-Sheiks and Chauvinist Arabs do not like the current prosper kurds are enjoying".

He pointed out that Nawroz and Uprising are two great occasions in the same month.

He also urged all Kurdish parties to stay united and said " yes it is true Kurds have voted for the current Iraqi constitution , but to this day some parts of Kurdistan remain un-annexed"

what attracted the attention of most observers was that, he spoke of self-determination right like he use to do in the old days and said "this is a right for Kurds and i also ask god to give freedom to Kurds in other parts of Kurdistan" .

what was observed in his speech that he showed positiveness about independent and indirectly referred to the matter.

Worth mentioning in this year's Newroz occasion the topic of Kurdish independent was vastly spoken of including the main Kurdish leaders , Barzani said in his speech that "the timing was not right for the proclamation but that day will certainly come soon". The opposition leader Nawshirwan Mustafa also expressed in a statement and said "Independence without the sliced off areas will not be a complete process".

Seriously, lets forget the past of every kurdish leader of all time. KURDISH LEADERS HAVE DONE NO GOOD FOR US. If we look at their history and judge them, they all have to end up in prison with life sentences. Therefore, lets atleast show the good side of our leaders AT THE MOMENT. I mean lets forget the past because it was NIGHTMARE and bloodshed.

Unfortunately for us, most Kurdish leaders bow to the realities of geo-politics. I can be as nationalist as I want with no real authority and the fate of millions of people in my hand, but I don't think I'll be the same, if I had any authority.
