i really don`t have an idea about the budget of peshmerga.

I have not heard about israel selling their F-16s. But i agree with you that it is possible that they may sell it to kurdistan. cuz there are alot of high ranked kurds in isreali military and government and we have common enemies.

And that depends on. if we get 10 isreali F-16s we can send to hell all of iraqs F-16s  And if we get the f-16s from israel it is highly likely that they may have also trained kurds to use them (And israeli air force is known for their training) :D i believe US and isreal have the best air force trainings (some EU contries and russia, canada, australia, china and japan have also very good training, but still US and israel have the best trained pilots)

And how do they count, is it in proportion to the size of the Peshmerga? Or the total Kurdish population in Iraq? Cuz if they don't have any plans of giving us any F16s then why should we stay within Iraq? But i hope we get at least a couple of the F16's because they will be needed in defending our airspace when we declare our independence.

they wont give us anything , we have to go and buy them ourselves . and if they bark and use constitution as a tool we wills tell them article 140 is in the constitution why you do not implement it ? yeah exactly shut the hell up then and back to the desert.

agree with you

piss on the iraki constitution, we have our own.

Israel-eyes-Iraqs-F-16s-and-worries

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 4:12 pm

TEL AVIV, Israel, April 9 (UPI) -- Israel is monitoring Iraq's rearmament program, particularly Bahgdad's acquisition of 36 Lockheed Martin F-16s, with some disquiet amid intelligence reports Iran is consolidating its influence in Iraq following the U.S. military withdrawal.

Baghdad ordered the F-16 Block 52 multi-role Fighting Falcon jets -- enough to equip the Iraqi air force's first two fighter squadrons -- in two 18-plane batches in 2011 at an estimated total cost of $7 billion.

Israel didn't publicly question the sales, part of an $85 billion rearmament plan for oil-rich Iraq, when they were announced.

It's not clear whether the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama, which has approved massive military sales to Iraq, will adjust its defense sales to Baghdad in light of Israeli concerns about growing Iranian influence in Iraq.

But for many years, U.S. policy on military sales to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan have taken into account the United States' pledge to Israel to maintain its technological superiority over its adversaries in the Middle East.

The Jerusalem Post reports that Israel's strategic planners are mostly concerned about the growing influence in Iraq of the elite Al-Quds Force of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Quoting a senior Israeli officer, the Post said the F-16s to be delivered to Iraq over the next 3-4 years "are of the same configuration" as F-16s Lockheed sold to the Israeli air force.

The Israeli air force, the most powerful in the Middle East, has 101 F-16I jets, known as Sufa, or Storm, and 25 Boeing F-15I Ra'am, or Thunder, aircraft.

These are the most advanced combat aircraft in Israel's inventory and form the air force's strategic strike spearhead. These would be the aircraft used in any pre-emptive Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

However, U.S. officials have said that the Pentagon as ensured that Iraq's U.S.-trained armed forces, who are responsible for protecting the state from external threats, won't receive weapons systems that could challenge Israel.

The U.S. publication Defense Industry Daily reported in March that the jets Iraq will receive, known as F-16IQs, from Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth, Texas, assembly plant, will be" less capable" than those sold to the United Arab Emirates, a key U.S. ally in the Persian Gulf.

And those aircraft, as with Boeing F-15s that Saudi Arabia will receive under a $67 billion U.S. defense package, were denied certain systems and weapons to ensure they cannot pose a threat to Israel.

The exact configuration of the F-16s headed for Iraq isn't clear. But it is known that Washington hasn't included Joint Direct Attack Munitions built by the Boeing Co. in the package for Baghdad.

"The net effect seems cleverly calibrated to give Iraq an air defense force that can handle aging threats from Syria or Iran relatively well and perform strike missions within Iraq, without being a serious threat to more advanced air forces in the region," Defense Industry Daily observed.

"Regional memories among its Arab neighbors, as well as Israeli concerns, make that a smart starting point.

"Upgrades can always take place later and the F-16IQs have at least some of the equipment required to handle more advanced weapons," the Washington daily noted.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Israel's military is "carefully watching developments in Iraq," non-Arab Iran's western neighbor and historical foe.

"The possible developments there are not immediate but since the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq we don't know what will evolve there," the senior officer said.

Israel's concerns center on other Iraqi military systems, including armor,

but Baghdad's potential strike capabilities appear to be uppermost among them.

The Post noted that these surfaced in the Israeli military's multiyear procurement plan approved by the General Staff in late 2011 but which has yet to be implemented because of differences between the Defense Ministry and the Treasury over cuts in the 2012 and 2013 defense budgets.

"In the military's analysis for the region -- which serves as the foundation for the procurement plans -- Iraq once again appears as a potential threat to Israel, something it has not posed since the U.S. invasion of the country in 2003," the newspaper observed.

It remains to be seen whether Washington will amend its defense sales to Iraq in view of this.

^^^^ ahahaha if anyone can stop them from getting these are the Israelis and boy i am glad they are worried , you never know the tip of the balance might turned just like it did with ExxonMobil , and in the end KRG gets F16s and iraq still waits .

either way i am just glad they are concerned and to keep the balance of power they can come and sell us some of their F16s.

Peshmarga: Kurdistan Region can defend itself against Iraq

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 4:29 pm

10/04/2012

ERBIL, April 10 (AKnews) - In the event that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki launches an offensive against Kurdistan Region, Kurdistan could "certainly" defend itself, said a senior official at Kurdistan Region's Peshmarga Ministry.

During a meeting with Kurdistan expatriates in the U.S, Kurdistan President Massoud al-Barzani said his office received intelligence that a while ago a number of top Iraqi military officials had proposed to Maliki to attack Erbil and advance until Salahaddin resort, where Barzani resides.

Maliki invited the officials to wait until Iraq delivers F16 fighters "so that the works get easier," he added.

Jabbar Yawar, jabar yawarHowever, the Peshmarga (Border Guards) Ministry's Secretary General, Brig. Jabbar Yawar, believes that it is "unlikely" Baghdad will attack Erbil but "whenever it does...Certainly Kurdistan region is able to defend itself."

He thought "the Iraqi government cannot attack Kurdistan" when Iraq's president, deputy prime minister, chief of staff an many other senior officials and thousands of military officers and soldiers are Kurds.

He also highlighted other senior positions filled by Kurds such as the deputy speaker for the Iraqi House of Representatives, the chief of Iraqi aerial forces and the chief of Iraqi intelligence.

He added, the magnitude of Kurds in Baghdad could press the Iraqi government to rely on dialogue and not force to settle its issues.

Sarwar Barzinji, the military adviser for the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, said purchasing the F-16 fighters and renovating the old weaponry of the Iraqi army dated back to an earlier stage, and not now as relations between Baghdad and Erbil have become complicated.

He also deemed that the Iraqi army cannot attack Kurdistan "because according to constitution, inciting any war, internally or with a foreign country, is subject to the prior approval from the House of Representatives.

"That [consent] is now impossible because both we [Kurds] and many of our friends are there[in the House]."

Now, he added, Kurds not only have "friends" inside Iraq but on an international level "who will not allow for the genocide of Kurds anymore."

A number of recent political events in the Iraqi arena and the suspended issues between Baghdad and Erbil have paved the way for both Iraqi and Kurdistan senior officials to exchange fiery statements.

Barzani who concluded a visit to the U.S. yesterday sought Washington's support for preventing the "recurrence of another dictator in Iraq", indirectly referring to Maliki.

yes,i agree. Arabs don`t care about law. They think that military sulutions is the only option to solve everything. And sadly i don`t think US would intervine militaryliy if Maliki attacked kurdistan. WE NEED THOSE F-16`s NOW!! that is the only 100% sure way we can defend ourself. i don`t want kurdistan to be depennded on other military powers to defend it,that way we can`t be sure if they acctulaly will defend us. we need our own strong and modern army with an state of the art air force.

yes indeed look at Israel it has 24 enemy countries and yet no one dares to invade/attack it and they don't depend on US military but rather their own .

i am glad Barzani has those intelligence agencies working for him in baghdad who informed him about the threats al maliki qondara has made, and if you scroll back few pages Barzani called for a "modern army and security forces" few days after this, the police in KRG gets state of art police vehicles! , so i am sure on his current trip he will buy more weapons and secure F16 fighter jets to defend kurdistan , its the only way there are no other we cant depend on others anymore our past depending on others or good intention of Iraqi's or their constitution is all rubbish and this should teach us that at least .
