1 in 7 Britons skipping meals
A new survey revealed that just under a fifth of working adults in Great Britain said they were forced to skip meals in the last year because they could not afford to eat
The YouGov poll highlighted that around a quarter of parents (24%) admitted that they had missed meals in the same time period in order to feed their children instead.
Some 2,098 adults, including 1,251 working adults, took part in the survey that was conducted across two days towards the end of January,
According to the results, 17% of working adults had had to skip meals in the past year because they could not afford to eat, while 13% said they did the same in the three months leading up to the survey.
The results also found that one in every seven persons said they had to skip meals in the previous year because they couldn't afford to eat, with the rate rising to 11% in the three months leading up to the survey.
Elsewhere, the data showed that 60% of individuals who indicated they had skipped meals throughout their adult life had done so within the previous 12 months.
