U.S.-led coalition hit ISIS mosque in Syria’s Raqqa

At least 30 people have been killed and injured in an airstrike by the US-led coalition, which targeted a mosque in Syria’s northeastern city of Raqqa, the main bastion for the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), activists reported on Friday.

“A US drone the Nour Mosque in the city of Raqqa during Friday prayers, causing casualties among worshipers,” a local source told ARA News.

“At least three people have been killed and about 30 others wounded in the attack,” the source reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Raqqa, rights activist Mohammed Raqqawi said that several ISIS militants have been killed and injured in the attack, including military commanders.

“Also, a number of civilians who attended Friday prayers were killed and injured,” he said, pointing out the attack was apparently targeting some top jihadi leaders who headed to the Nour Mosque.

ARA News could not verify the death toll among civilians.

On Thursday, Abu al-Hayja at-Tounisi, ISIS governor of Azaz district in Aleppo province, was killed in an airstrike while on his way to Raqqa, according to local sources.
