Nokia Hands-Free Finger Cellphone

Bringing a whole new meaning to your cell-phone at your fingertips comes a design from Issam Trabelsi, the Nokia FIT.

Crafted from soft silicone and flexible rubber, the phone is waterproof and has basic functions of texting and talking. Notifications are received through vibrations and the ergonomic design makes all the buttons accessible. Take it along for a dip in the pool or keep it wrapped around the finger, as the phone is extremely lightweight.

Yanko Design is known for its beautiful innovative product concepts and since wearables are the subject du-jour, they have come up with a render detailing a possible wearable coming out of Nokia, that’s a little bit atypical.

Taking things a little bit further from the already typical smartwatch/smart glass, the creators of the concept have dreamed of a Nokia smart ring that enables you to place phone calls.

Now, smart rings aren't exactly something new, but the above-mentioned functionality makes this design stand out. For example, there’s the dryly named “Ring” device, a big chunky wearable you mount around your index finger.

Ring has been designed to bring you the power of controlling paired smart-devices by virtue of moving your index finger. We have also told you about another similar product, called Fin that aims to do the same thing.

The difference between the two consists in the technologies working underneath. For example, Fin will scan your palms and the segment of your fingers, while Ring focuses on your forefinger alone, using an ultra-small gesture technology to decipher gestures.

But none of those two smart rings are said to be bundling phone calling capabilities. That’s where the Nokia Fit comes in. The concept was created by Issam Trabelsi and is supposed to be a ring that wraps around your index finger and allows you to place phone calls from there.

The Nokia Fit would be made of soft silicone and flexible rubber, while also being waterproof. Notifications (like incoming phone calls) will be relayed through vibrations. The wearable will come equipped with tiny function buttons, but thanks to the ergonomic design, they will be easily accessible

Judging by the name, Nokia Fit will probably be able to track some fitness parameters, maybe it will be capable of monitoring your blood-pressure or stress levels. However, we’re not given any indication of that, in the concept sheet.

Nokia Fit seems like something that might catch the attention of a lot of customers, but before launching such a device, Nokia would have to figure out a way to prevent users losing the small wearable while going for a swim or working out.

Also, we don’t think typing on a keyboard would be too much fun with the little device mounted on your finger like that.

Stand-alone calling capabilities might really make it into wearables soon. Yesterday we reported, a third Samsung Gear 2 might be in the making, one embedding the Universal Subscriber Identity (USIM) technology that allows users to place phone calls.

Would be fantastic if it ever became more than just a concept and was actually manufactured - I would buy one :ymapplause:
