1 March

Complete change in the weather - bright sunny day - though we had a cold breeze B-)

Sunday and Monday are going to be wet and VERY windy again - the ground will NEVER dry out enough for planting at this rate :-o

Actually the flooding in England is a very serious matter - much of our farmland is still waterlogged - where I live I see great pools of water sitting on fields :(

The food prices are bound to rise

2 March

In 3 weeks time Kurds will be celebrating Nawroz

Or will they ?

How many Kurds will have the opportunity to celebrate ?

NOW would be an excellent time for Kurds to UNITE especially in Turkey where the government is almost on the point of collapse

While the government is in such turmoil Kurds should stand up for themselves and demand self-rule - instead of meekly following as brain-dead sheep =p~

Syria is still almost news-worthy though has now been over-shadowed by events in the Ukraine - and Turkey is also news-worthy due to the corruption charges against erDOGan - now is the time for Kurds to stand up for themselves - soon the events in Syria and Turkey will be forgotten

If Kurds in NK fail to take the opportunity that Nawroz affords them to stand up for themselves - then they deserve to continue living beneath the oppressive Turkish regime X(

4 March

it was a lovely day on Tuesday :ymhug:

An English runner won the 65th annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, which pits two towns in the U.S. and England against each other.

Devon Byrne, 20, of Olney, England, covered the 415-yard (meter) course in 55.61 seconds to defeat Summer Parsons, who won the U.S. leg of the race in Liberal, Kansas. It was Byrne's third win in a row, The Leader and Times in Kansas reported.

Olney and Liberal women in aprons and head scarves run the course with a pancake in their pan. Race rules require the contestants to flip their pancake at the beginning and end of the race.

Shrove Tuesday is traditionally the last day before the start of the 40 days of Lent that lead to Easter. According to legend, the Olney race started in 1445 when a harried housewife arrived at church on Shrove Tuesday still clutching her frying pan with a pancake in it.

Liberal challenged Olney in 1950 after seeing photos of the race in a magazine.

Liberal leads the competition with 36 wins to Olney's 28. One year's score was disqualified.

Even MPs joined in the fun :))

5 March

It was a lovely spring day today :D

Probably rain tomorrow :-s

Hopefully the ground will start to dry out now - though it will probably take another month before any work can be done on most of the farms

£3 loaf of bread is on it's way - probably accompanied by the £2 pint of milk
