Few days ago, Leyla Zana made a visit in Southern Kurdistan, in the aim to meet Masud Barzani and Jalal Talabani, the presidents of Kurdistan and Iraq, for talking about something that worries her more than the Kurdish question in Turkey : I mean a possible military intervention of Turkish troops in Iraq, to expell the PKK basis. Leyla Zana offers the great advantage to demonstrate clearly for which side she works herself. Astoundingly silenced during the riots of Diyarbakir, she, who likes to take a Kurdish Pasoniaria’s attitude, cares a lot about border incidents in Iraq. And as a very helpful person, then she ran to meet Barzani, for an uncertain mission… Does she want to explain him how he has to do for having a free State without being ataatcked by Turkey ? In any case, Barzani answered patiently by criticising the new bellicist line of the PKK, explaining that ” “Radicalism is over. Toughness just brings blood. Everyone realizes that it is impossible to achieve our aims through weapons. We can succeed if we get together”, in short, everybody (but the PKK) knows here that violent action are useless, and if the PKK stop its attacks from Kandil mountains, incidents would decrease a lot at Iraqi border.
The funniest is that, probably irritated by Leyla Zana’s initiative – though she has no political function nor electoral success – both DTP presidents, Ahmet Türk and Aysel Tugluk have decided to visit Southern Kurdistan also, asserting to have been invited by the Parliament. We could almost believe that Masud Barzani has in charge to nominate the representative of Kurds in Turkey.
Running too in the race, Osman Baydemir is the outsider champion. But since the riots in his city of Diyarbakir, he faces a nationalist campaign and warning from the PKK. However, he doesn’t seem for the moment to ask a support from Barzani, probably esteeming that US support is enough, since his visit in America…
On another hand, Murat Karayilan, the military leader of the PKK, howls that any attempt of conciliation between Kurds and Turks is a treason (I’am always laughing when PKK condems someone for treason), and that if Iran or Turkey are still going to threaten his positions, he is going to invade both countries, to make war, to pulverize them… but seems to be absolutely unconcerned by his own nuisance in the process of a political recognition of Southern Kurdistan, which can’t to be accepted as a sure, stable, democratic state, without any danger for its neighbors… and continues in the same time to shelter 3000 guerilleros, pathetically lost and manipulated in an absurd war, which is lost since 5 years.
Here is the dilemma for the Kurdish government : It can’t sweep this parasitic guerilla, though useless and even harmful for Kurds in Turkey, without shocking Kurdish sensitivies among people who could not admit a fratricide conflict, especially for the benefit of Turkey. But Kurdish leaders know too that no autonomy nor independance could happen if Kandil is used by the PKK to attack neighboured countries : A such fact would put Southern Kurdistan in the side of “rogue-states” even before it could enjoy recognition from NU. And for the moment, Iraq is involved too in these incidents, as so long as Baghdad is supposed to represent at an international and regional level the Kurdish federal region.
Perhaps, for that reason, KRG protest not so loudly against Iranian actions, while Masud Barzani is always firmly opposed to a Turkish intervention. For Iran, if he clean the mountains sheltering the PKK, would not stay a long time in Kurdistan. At the contrary, Turkey could be always dangerously tempted to set in the country more than necessary.

I have a question : how journalists and photographers could arrive so quickly on the place ? had they been warned just before ?
Police did not protect him apparenty, they let the guy kick his ass then intervened…they do that a lot. I never saw that in Istanbul, and it is right in the center apparently, it’s very very weird!!!
Cemo do you have infos about how this images were shot?
OK, we have the comment of the event now :
AFP – Nationalist militants attacked a Kurdish student near Istanbul Technical University, where Kurdish students were attending spring celebrations yesterday. The attack came while Turkish police arrested five suspected Kurdish militants and seized 7.5kg (16.5lb) of plastic explosives.
Two of the suspects had apparently received training in bomb-making in camps belonging to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Anatolia news agency said. Three bomb attacks shook Istanbul in late March and early April, killing one person and injuring more than 40 others. Twelve people also died in Kurdish riots in towns in the southeast of the country.
The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) claimed responsibility. Officials believe that the PKK uses the TAK for attacks on civilian targets, but the PKK says TAK is a breakaway group over which it has no control.

Turkish police detain suspected Kurdish bombers, seize explosives
ISTANBUL, May 9, 2006 (AFP) – 14h44 – Turkish police arrested five suspected Kurdish militants and seized 7.5 kilograms (16.5 pounds) of plastic explosives believed to be destined for bomb attacks, Anatolia news agency reported Tuesday.
Two of the suspects had apparently received training in bomb-making in camps belonging to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the agency said.
Three bomb attacks shook Istanbul in late March and early April, killing one person and inuring more than 40, while unprecedented Kurdish riots in towns in the southeast of the country claimed 12 lives.
All were claimed by the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), which Turkish officials say is a group the PKK uses as cover for attacks on urban civilian targets. The PKK says TAK is a breakaway group over which it has no control.
Clashes between the PKK and the army have increased markedly since the riots and the army has amassed troops in the mainly Kurdish-populated southeast to crackdown on rebels thought to be infiltrating Turkey from bases in northern Iraq.
More than 37,000 people have been killed since 1984 when the PKK, branded a terrorist group by Turkey, the European Union and the United States, began fighting for self-rule in the southeast.

you will aunderstand that guy is innocent.
AFP news does not say that the guy was a terrorist, but that the aggression happens during a police raid. It explains the presence of medias, I suppose. By the way, the boy does not seem having anything to do with it, he waited quietly front of a bus.

you can look site of instutekurd of paris.in english section they gives news of afp about kurds in turkey
I know the site of Kurdish Institute thanx I work in the place :). This site just produced authomatically the AFP news.
The first statement coud be red here (even if I believe I red it elsewhere but no matter) :
http://www.kurdistanweekly.dk/news.php?readmore=929
Ekurd gives the same true fact : Li Zanîngehên Tirkîyeyê provakasyon û êrîşên li hemberî xwendekarên kurd dom dikin.
Îro jî li Zanîngeha Teknîkî a Stenbolê xwendekarên nijadperest, ji ber ku roja bohirî xwendekarên kurd bi minasebeta şahîya biharê li hev civîya bûn, li Zanîngehê dest bi provakasyonan kirin.
And after AFP follows with TAK’s suspect as it is linked, but it is only AFP statements so no trustable source, I agree. They just mix each other several events.
Concerning the moderation of comments I don’t understand, for comments are not moderated here. Perhaps it is because you post a lot in a short time, so the antispams worked ?

this explanation is looking logical.
about news if i upset you i am really sorry. i am sure the faulty is that sorces and you are a real friend of kurds.i think that two news by mistakenly come together.
And apaprently Turkish police protect him ?
I have a question : how journalists and photographers could arrive so quickly on the place ? had they been warned just before
offcourse police is there and they watched racist grey wolves.there is also other incident in that days.so there are alot of police in that place.turkish police always doing that.they let fascist to beat people.remember trabzon.but they dont let them to kill people .they rescue people just before being killed.becouse they afraid reaction of eu and usa .if they dont afraid eu and usa they let fascists to kill people.and there aren’t any people detained for participating that linch.they freely walking and looking forward to possibility to linch another kurd.
http://www.rojaciwan.com/index.php?newlang=kurdish
you can see brutality of that racist also from that link. indymedia is not working properly
please someone add that link to forum also.all people must see their brutality.
Why don’t you register yourself in the forum ? It would be easier…
