Your information concerning his exellency Mr.Abdulla Ocalan the imprisoned leader of PKK , not speaking kurdish is not correct.
He speaks kurdish fluently, then you having lived in Turkey possibly know that many kurdish peoplein the rural areas hardly can comprehend Turkish, and these vast majority are giving support to the Kurdish movent.
Your arguement concerning knowing a language necessarily is not equal to like all speakers of that language is correct, but in the case of Kurdish, not because of the language itself, but because of political factors one should pay more attention to that.

I was about to talk about that! I read it, it’s totally crazy. A turkish friend of mine tried to translate it but she was really struggling with the grammar!
As for his kurdish all I know is that he does not speak properly. If all the proganda of PKK is in turkish, it is for one good reason, which is not “it is easiest for all kurds to understand”: PKK has a “pan kurdish” strategy, so saying that southern, eastern and western kurds understand better turkish is stupid: documents of PKK are actually translated from turkish to kurmanci or sorani after they have been written in originally in turkish.
They do what they want anyway: Sinn Feinn documents are more often in english than in Gaelic, and I’m not too sure about E.T.A. But it is useless to say Apo is fluent in kurdish: his mother language is “approximative turk”: he was born in Urfa from a Turkmen mother, and his kurdish father left very early, so it is not his fault!
You must admit that when you look at him, he does not look really “typically kurd”!
