Surfing on Wikipedia, I have had the surprise to discover that the region of Barzan gave its name to one of the Kurdistanî Neo-Aramaic, spoken by Jews of Kurdistan. Before their migration, this dialect, also called Lishanid Janan, was spoken in 3 villages of Southern Kurdistan: Bijîl (which gave also its name to that language), Barzan and Shahe. The last Jews who spoke it as his mother language died in 1998. Some other Jews used it in Israël, but as a second or third language, and are all old people. So the Barzani Neo-Aramaic is now a dead language. His linguistic file could be red there, where its official name is Barzani Jewish Neo-Aramaic.
