Serseng ? it might be turned into a civil airport or military one, there is a military airport under design in Kurdish areas of Mosul under KRG's jurisdictions of course.

Yes, I belive a heliport would be the best option but when will they renovate it?

Search for "Bamerna" in google earth and you'll see the location of it. It was never finished I belive and it's purpose was to become a military airport for saddam airforce.
