Re: Low-Income Families Hopeful about New Housing Policy

I think you know not much about the housing situation in south Kurdistan. The majority of the Kurds have not enough money to buy the luxury houses in Kurdistan and thats why the KRG make in the last time many new projects to build low income houses.

So these projects are for Kurds and the luxury houses are mostly fo foreigners. We need more low income houses.

Actually, I do know about it. There are TWO kinds of foreigners.
1. Those who are internally displaced persons who have fled their hometowns during the civil war in Iraq (2003-2010 or so). These are mostly very poor Arabs who come to Kurdistan for security. These displaced persons have no money to buy expensive real estate and depend on the budget of the state (there are disagreements on this matter: the KRG says that Iraq should pay for these refugees, while Iraq says the KRG should pay for THEIR refugees!!). 97% of these people don't have property in Kurdistan.
2. Those who have come to Kurdistan for the better investment opportunities or those who are doctors/engineers. These are the richer arabs and most of them have property in Kurdistan (the remaining three percent).

It was also possible for a while for arabs not residing in Kurdistan to buy property, however, this is not possible anymore (due to the huge increase in house prices).

As a matter of fact, Arabs now constitute about 3 percent of Kurdistan, which is in comparison higher than the amount of turks in the Netherlands (2,4%) or the amount of Polish people in Germany (2%).

arabs have no role in our politics, their kids will be assimilated as to get jobs you MUST know kurdish specially government jobs and most other private jobs.

once kurdistan divorces iraq i am certain many of these arabs will go back to their desert state of theirs.

and i want the entire kurds in iraq to come and reside in the isolated areas to increase the kurdish population as it should be, they must go to kirkuk and Khanaqin and parts of Mosul that are kurdish.

Kurds want 23% of the Iraqi budget

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:25 am

ERBIL, Sept. 2 (AKnews) – Kurds are demanding an increase in the share of the Iraqi budget from current 17% to 23%, an Kurdish MP said Sunday.

Mahma Khalil of the Kurdish Blocs Coalition (KBC) in the Iraqi parliament said Sunday that the share of Kurdistan Region from the Iraqi budget should be 23% and a general census should be held in order to determine the population.

Khalil’s statement comes after the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Shahristani called on the Iraqi authorities to reduce Kurdistan’s current 17% to 13% because, as he believed, that portion did not represent the Kurdish region.

Khalil dismissed Shahristani’s statement and said the Kurdish share of the budget was a “national achievement” that served people. Kurdistan Region has served its people better than the Iraqi government has done with its 83%, he said.

Peshmerga should deport them out of Kurdistan asap.

3% is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to high. That means out of every 33 people, one of them is an ugly Arab!

They should bring it back to 0,3%.

Exactly as my thought :-D. Even if they get 100% they will still be worse bcoz the politicians will have more to steal and give more money to Iran and Syria.

So shaytanelkabir stop crying on ssc with your 85% you have failed to be like Kurdistan with the 15% extra nothing will change it just means more money for your corrupted leaders.

I know your support for Kurdish state is based on getting the 15% back but it will do Iraq no difference at least KRG have put it to use , where is the 85% ?? I have no seen jack yet, watching the vid of allawi getting sheod in Najaf your holy city shows Iraq sees nothing from its 85% share of the budget, but if you look at the 3 provinces as well as Kirkuk you see where most if not all of the 15% budget ends up at.

By the this 15% we get is from Kirkuk oil fields that your stealing.

Spacetoon Sues Kurdistan Store

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 2:48 pm

Image

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—The Spacetoon television channel is filing a lawsuit against a store in the Kurdistan Region because it has used the channel’s logo as its sign.

However, the owner of the store says, “We have a contract with the channel. We paid them $90,000 to use the patent name, so we will file a lawsuit against them, too.”

Spacetoon was the first free-to-air animated channel in the Middle East, broadcast from Dubai Media City since 2000.

In 2002, the first store in Duhok opened under this name. Two years later, another branch was opened in Sulaimani. In 2010, the same store opened two more branches in Erbil and Pirmam.

The store sells toys and children’s products under Spacetoon’s name.

Soran Qasim, the owner of the Erbil branch, said, “We paid them $90,000 for use of the patent name. We also paid them a yearly royalty for the commercials they ran for us. But they have not aired our commercials for the past six months.”

Spacetoon rejected that the Kurdistan store was its representative in Iraq, saying they don’t have a representative in Iraq. They also said that the kids’ products in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are not their products, but the Kurdistan store took advantage of the name to create a market for their products.

MBC3 is another cartoon channel based in Saudi Arabia. This channel is very popular in the Middle East and the Kurdistan Region, so the Kurdistan chain has tried to advertise their products through them as well.

Qasim said, “When the Spacetoon channel found out that we want to advertise our products on MBC3, they said we were using their name illegally.”

He added, “Since Spacetoon said that, we have lost many customers, so we decided to file a lawsuit against the channel and demand compensation for our losses.”

Yeah, but the good thing is that staying in Kurdistan is impossible (I will tell you later why).

I am going to write something about Arabs emigrating to Kurdistan, housing, jobs, residence permit (aka information card), etc in a few days on roj bash to clear things up for the people here as I have noticed that there are some misunderstangdings about this. I am also going to write about the possibility of staying in Kurdistan, owning property as an Arab in Kurdistan and school attendancy of Arab students.

Oil deals fuel Arbil investments

September/04/2012

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) attracted $3.4 billion worth of private sector investment in the first six months of the year, according to the KRG’s Board of Investment.

The figure is more than the $3 billion recorded in the whole of 2011 and is likely to surpass the record $4.8 billion posted in 2010, according to a recent report by the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED), a regional business intelligence provider.

The rush by foreign energy companies to enter the region, despite the central Iraqi government’s opposition, lies behind the large increase in investments in the region. Baghdad has called on energy giants such as Chevron, ExxonMobil and Total not to bypass it in making direct deals with Arbil.

In total, the KRG has attracted more than $21 billion in foreign and domestic private sector investment since 2006, MEED said.

The majority of these investments have gone to the Arbil governorate, which has received $12.5 billion.

Sulaymaniyah has attracted close to $6 billion, while Dohuk has brought in some $3.3 billion, MEED calculated.

Investors also benefit from favorable tax policies in the region.

Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani joined the KRG Ministry of Health in announcing a new initiative with a British pharmaceutical quality control company yesterday to improve the quality of medicine available in the Kurdistan Region.

The agreement with Food and Drug Analytical Services Ltd (FDAS) comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to prevent the import and distribution of counterfeit products to the local market.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Barzani praised efforts that the Ministry of Health has recently made to address this issue and highlighted the important role that the Iraqi government and neighbouring countries can play in helping to address it.

“We want to partner with the international community in preventing the circulation of these products. This agreement will provide our people the tools and skills needed to create self-sustainability and ensure the well-being of our citizens,” the Prime Minister said.

The Ministry of Health has spearheaded an important campaign of public awareness regarding counterfeit medicine and has tasked various investigation committees to inspect products already in the Region.
