We need alot of time before these party flags are gone from such events. Its like in Viva cup where people waved the puk-flag instead of kurdish flag.

Erbil FC signs one more Kurdish and two Iraqi players

ERBIL, Aug.10 (AKnews)- The managing board of Erbil Football Club has signed contract with three players, including two goalkeepers.

The new players are Ammar Hussein of Mina, Jalal Hassan of Karbala and Kurdish player Dler Hatam of Handren, said Rebin Ramzi, press secretary of Erbil FC.

The aim behind hiring these players is to strengthen the club for the upcoming season.

Ramz added Hatam's contract is for two seasons and the other players for only one season. The players have signed the bond in white paper.

Hussein has displayed a high competence with Mina and will play for Erbil FC in the Asian Cup and Iraqi Premier League, according to Ramzi.

The official said Hassan has played for Iraqi Olympics Team in Arab League which was concluded recently in Tunis.

As for Hatam, Ramzi said he will play for Erbil FC only in Iraqi League.

This week Erbil FC also signed contract with two African players in preparation for the Asian Cup. Earlier six other Kurdish players contracted with Erbil for the coming season.

With its victory this year, Erbil FC became the Iraqi champion for four successive seasons. Now it is preparing for the qualification matches of the Asian Cup, due to begin in September.

There are two different club competitions in Asia, AFC CUP and AFC Champions league. Basically, it is like Europe league and Eruope champions league. However, the winner and runners up from each country will qualitfy straight away to participate in the AFC Champions league and the others (3rd & 4th) will qualify to the AFC CUP. So Erbil FC should have participated in the Champions league since 2007, since they won the iraqi league since then.

Here is the story. Bin hamam from qatar. This guy was the president of Asian football federation who hated iraq. He tried his best to convince the asian football federation of excluding iraq from champions league because they do not have proper stadiums and lack of financial support. Also, he was the one who excluded iraq national team from playing in Erbil as a home stadium because the stadium was not good enough.

Anyway, a year ago he was accused for bribing money to some asian and european countries to vote for Qatar to host the World cup 2022. So he was kicked out by Sepp Blatter (head of FIFA) and now he is not allowed to participate in any sports activities.

lol, Some iraqi's said that he is not allowed to do any sports activities any more, even push ups =))

Note: If Erbil FC wins the Asian CUP this year (they are in quarter finals), they will qualify to the champions league for next year. Also, there is a matter of points that need to be achieved so that the iraqi clubs can return to the champions again.

Erbil FC signs contract with Iraqi star Mustafa Karim

PostAuthor: brendar » Mon Aug 20, 2012 3:49 pm

ERBIL, August 20 (AKnews) – Erbil FC's assistant coach announced that the club signed a contract with Iraqi star Mustafa Karim.

Omer Majeed said Erbil FC signed a contract with the player on Saturday to play with the club in the next season.

Majeed said: "Karim is one of the best strikers of Iraq. We wanted to sign the contract with him earlier to be able to play in the Asian Federation football championship but he can play next season in the Iraqi elite football league and the Asian competition."

Both Erbil players Luay Salah and Amjad Razi are injured and the club needs a player to fill their position. Mustafa can take the vacant place.

Erbil Club was officially crowned champion of this season’s Iraqi elite football league three weeks ago. The club was crowned champion three times in a row in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
