ERBIL, July 21 (AKnews)- As president Bashar al-Assad's regime holds a strong position in Qamislo, freeing the mainly Kurdish city may take a while, a Kurdish leader said.
Kurdish forces are still advancing towards and into Qamislo, said Shalal Gado, a leader of the Leftist Kurdish Democrat Party of Syria.
Though the distance between Amuda and Qamislo is only 30km but due to "Assad's stronghold in Qamislo freeing the city may come late," Gado said.
The leader added the Western Kurdistan's People's Assembly and the Kurdish National Council of Syria (KNCS) have taken control of the government agencies in the areas the Baath regime agents have evacuated.
During the past two days Kurdish forces assaulted the government institution in Kobani, Afrin and Amuda.
Kurdistan flags were hoisted over the cities after the security forces and Baath agents left without any confrontations.
Since the Syrian regime has withdrawn the bulk of its forces into Damascus, the Kurdish forces have not face much difficulty in freeing the cities, said Ali Shamdin, a member of KNCS.
