i know that they are both the same language but the reason i ask if afghan farsi is closer to middle persian is because of many reasons. one interesting greeting that afghans use for example is "janet joor?" (this is a very philosophical question) and it sounded weird to me the first time i heard it as a persian speaker so i thought maybe this is what farsi used to sound like before. also there are many words that are different between persian farsi and afghan farsi. here's a couple examples :
english - persian farsi - afghan farsi
hospital - bimaristan - shafa khane
ugly - zesht - bad rang
i hope you understand what i'm trying to ask. notice that i didn't put words like gap (talk) or maqbul (pretty) in there because persians still use those words (although not as much). i was trying to show the different ways that the two dialects say the same thing. and i want to know if one is closer to middle persian than the other.
they also still use many pure persian words such as keyla for banana rather than moz which is arabic. and then there is also the differences in pronunciation of words and accent. can we say that is more correct than the other?
thanks for your time.
