Universities/Centers to learn Kurmanji Kurdish

PostAuthor: dodya » Tue May 31, 2005 7:26 pm

I am a student with a decent grasp of the Turkish language (not fluent however) and am interested in studying Kurdish in Kurdistan. Are there any centers or universities that teach Kurdish in North Kurdistan? I know there are a few in South Kurdistan, however I would like to practice Turkish while learning Kurdish. Thank you for your help,

Dustin

You can learn Kurmanji at Istanbul I heard, but I don't know if this is some false news spread by Turkey. And if it is true, it's probably expensive.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

The best thing is for you to learn it in SOUTH KURDISTAN - there you can practice your Kurdish with people without being jailed for being a treat to national security... ;)

Can you give more info about that?
