Temate and Tomatêz in kurdi means tomatoes ...is it a pure kurd word or it came from french ,english?
there are a few fruits that came to kurdistan last centure and we didnt have name for it and we used forigens names for it ..
but didnt we kurds have tomatoes in kurdistan ? Tomatoes seems so essenstial for life ...how kurds lived without tomatoes?

it's a very international word. I believe they were first cultivated in French Provence..I'll check that! But certainly not a kurdish word.

Fascinating!
The word TOMATI comes from the Aztec (mexican indians) "fleshed fruit"...and was introduced in spain in the XVI century, along with potatoes or maïs!
