We say Sewzî (comes from one of the two Kurdî words for green, Sewz)
Correction...
And it is a CONTRADICTION too (that which I will reveal to you):
Shinahî = "Greenness"
Kesk ="Green"...
So we have actually got three words for Green... Because Shîn, although it means "blue" - can in situations mean "Green"...
And we call Vegetable by the Persian name... Which the Turks got it from:
Kurdî: Sebze
English pron: Sabza
But the one Heval wrote is a Kurdish word for vegetable... And also - Shinahî - is a Kurdish... But much is a word for more than just vegetables - also anything "green" - in e.g. grass, herbs, trees etc...
It is strange how the decriptions of blue and green can be so confusing in Kurdî... In some dialects, Shîn is blue. However, in other dialects Awî is blue (which literally translated means watery)... but in other dialects Awî means clear. Now, you say Shinahî, which I would expect means blue-ish, instead actually means greenish? ... Well, I was unaware of that one. Thanks!
I don't think we got Sebze from Persians, because it's Sewzî! ... but it's interesting that you say Sebze...
By the way, about the Turkish... check out the hangman topic
