Yes, it is difficult to get the Kurdish state but not impossible, like other demands that can easily be obtained, but impossible to protect and maintain.

Just as democratic countries can be colonial countries at the same time, and history is full of examples, the largest and oldest Democratic Senate in the world was the Senate of the Roman and Greek Empires, but they were the largest colonial powers of their time.

Also British democracy is one of the most racey democracies in the world but at the same time it was the largest colonial power in the world.
