Four Kurdistan Clubs Begin
Iraqi Stars League Campaign

The 2025–2026 Iraq Stars League season kicks off this Saturday with the opening round, featuring three matches — two in Baghdad and one in Duhok — as four teams from the Kurdistan Region vie for the championship

The curtain-raiser will see Amanat Baghdad host Diyala at Ahmed Radhi Stadium. Later in Baghdad, Al-Talaba will take on Zakho at Al-Madina Stadium.

In Duhok, Newroz will face Al-Kahrabaa in one of several matches relocated to Duhok Stadium due to technical issues and maintenance at other venues, according to the General Sports Federation of Iraq.

Duhok will then meet Al-Karma on Sunday at the same ground, while Erbil is scheduled to face Najaf in Duhok on Monday after its home stadium was temporarily closed for maintenance. Mosul will also stage its matches this season in Duhok until renovation work on its ground is completed.

With several Kurdistan Region clubs in contention and multiple fixtures concentrated in Duhok, fans can look forward to an action-packed start to the new campaign
The Iraqi Stars League is the top-tier professional football league in Iraq, featuring leading clubs from across the country. It serves as the main competition for domestic football and a platform for developing national talent.
