In the summer of 1186, in Syria, the castle of Terra Nuova cries its Lord, "the Duke of iron". It is thus Sybille, his niece, who is responsible for defending the fortress of Jerusalem. In the East, an enemy more dangerous than all the Emirs, Princes and brigands, defies the forty. To stop it, Sibyl must find a legendary Cup that contains the secrets of the cosmos: the rose of Djam.

In this first volume, Sandrine Alexie revisiting the Iranian legend of the "Djam-I Djam", a double Oriental of the Grail legend. Imbued with mystical poetry, she sculpts harsh characters in a violent world, where religious disputes settle at the tip of the sword. The author carries with passion her reader in the meanders of the Seljuk dynasties (Iran, Asia minor, 11th-13Th centuries) and ayyubide (Egypt, Syria, 12Th-14Th centuries), during which Normans, Occitans, Turks and Persians coexist in an extraordinary cultural bubbling.

The rose of djam mixes the slang of the Franks with the convolutions flowering of the Emirs. Fascinated by the historical chronicles, Sandrine Alexie has fun to reproduce its alambiqué style. It renews the sources of inspiration of the heroic fantasy while respecting the fundamentals of the genre. A stream of fresh air in a register very attached to the aesthetics of J. R. R. Tolkien, whose universe signs the encounter between Celtic and Scandinavian myths on a background of idealised medieval Europe. Elisa Thévenet

Actually this is the BEST synopsis I have read :ymapplause:

Summer disintegrates the tiny brains in some Kurdish heads. For one week, 2 wars among tribes oblige Kurdish and Turkish forces to play the local White Helmets' :

In Akrê, Zerzeris and Herkis are arguing with kalashnikov, grenade, etc. The motive :a youth's fight.
In Riha (Urfa) Izoli tribe is torn between 2 of its groups who are fighting for an unknown reason. 6 dead.

Enjoy summer and holidays in Kurdistan

Elections of a muxtar (sort of mayor) in Mardin. 2 families shared their political opinions… with weapons, sticks, stones : 22 wounded.

No need to make investigations about Turkish repression behind election casualties : some Kurds are helpful. :))

Besides Kurds being complete idiots, it shows something else

THEY DO NOT LISTEN

Over 70 years ago Qazi Muhammad said:

For the love of God, come, and stop being each others enemies.

Be as one and have each others' back in the face of an unfair and ruthless enemy

Don't sell yourselves cheap to the enemy.

Our enemies only want you as long as it benefits their own purposes.

The enemy will never feel compassion for you.

The enemies of the Kurds are many, they are tyrannic, ruthless and without any conscious.

The success for any people is their oneness, unity and support of their whole nation.

Any nation that does not have oneness and unity will forever be under his enemies' rule.

You as Kurds are no less than other free nations, on the contrary you are in many ways more ready than other nations that freed themselves from oppression.

But those who freed themselves had unity amongst them.

For you to be free you have to stop fighting among yourselves, stop being jealous of each other, stop selling yourself to the enemy.

Only then will you be free and free your nation.

All France is fearing the heat-waves… hardly 40ºc.

I remember once, in Duhok, going out to the garden, i felt that the air was fresher and nice after some weeks of dog-days. I checked the weather-app and read "today, only 40ºc"

In Kurdistan, heat-waves is more than 45 ºc during one month and in Bagdad, 50ºc is not uncommon.

Three dead on France's beaches
as 'hell' heatwave sweeps Europe

At least three people have died as a heatwave likened to 'hell' swept across Europe, bringing with it temperatures of at least 40c

French news outlet LCI said the three swimmers had died in separate incidents on beaches in southern France.

A man aged 70 suffered a cardiac arrest in calm water and was believed to have been a victim of 'thermic shock' after coming into contact with the water.

Two other people died in similar circumstances. A woman, 62, died at a beach near Montpellier, and a man aged 75 also died at another beach nearby.

French firefighters warned people should not swim in water that is too cold during the heatwave to avoid instances of so-called "hydrocution."

Swimmers are being advised to make sure they enter the water gradually.

European forecasters warned that “hell is coming” as the continent braces for the record breaking heatwave.

Meteorologists in France have issued warnings of a threat to life as hot weather is expected to produce temperatures of up to 40 degrees across the country.

Forecasters have predicted the country may experience its hottest June on record.

The French weather agency set the heat warning level at orange - the second highest intensity on its four-level categorisation system for potentially dangerous conditions requiring public vigilance.

A 2,000 mile wide plume of hot air dubbed the “Saharan bubble” being blown across Africa is expected to bring hot conditions across the Continent to Britain following days of widespread downpours and flooding in the UK.

In Spain, forecaster Silvia Laplana tweeted a picture of an all-red weather map captioned: "El infierno [hell] is coming."

She later tweeted that while summer is hot, this "extensive and intense" heat was "not normal".

In Germany, temperatures above 40C are possible in some places on Wednesday, topping the country's previous June record of 38.2C, set in Frankfurt in 1947.

Parts of north-eastern Germany are also at high risk for forest fires. Authorities in the eastern state of Brandenburg, which circles Berlin, said the risk of forest fires is at the highest level in the coming days.

The UK’s Met Office said temperatures will become “increasingly warm over the next few days.”

Revellers heading to Glastonbury have been warned to take extra precautions such as sunscreen and to seek shelter from the sunshine due to high UV levels.

Forecasters also said there could be severe storms during the latter part of the festival, with thunderstorms and potential flooding.

Campers are due to be greeted by cloudy but dry weather when the gates open at 8am, with sunshine and temperatures of up to 23 degrees from mid-afternoon.

Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: “It’s going to get very warm across parts of the west and southwest of the country from Wednesday, and it’ll feel hot in places across southern and western parts of the UK by Friday, with temperatures possibly reaching 30 Celsius in a few spots. =))

“Localised heatwaves are possible in a few places across the UK by Saturday.”

The highest temperature on record for June is 35.6 Celsius recorded in London on 29 June 1957 and Southampton on 28 June 1976.

Scientists say measurements show that heatwaves in Europe are becoming more frequent.

Stefan Rahmstorf, of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, said "monthly heat records all over the globe occur five times as often today as they would in a stable climate".

Some people are incredibly stupid. They roast for hours on a sunny beach and then suddenly enter in a cold water (in June, waters have had not time to warm, as in September).

When we were children, we learnt how to enter gradually in the flow, wetting at first our limbs and necks and then slowly crouch and jump on and under the waves, until the sea stops to seem icy.

Considering the age of these idiots, it is not surprising their hearts did not bear the shock.

Each winter many people die because they go out of a centrally heated home into the freezing cold and dig snow out of the way 8-|

Paris region closes schools as heatwave grips

France is starting to close dozens of schools because of a heatwave, with temperatures expected to climb above 40C (104F) in some regions on Thursday

About 50 schools in the Essonne region, just south of Paris, are being shut, as they lack sufficient air conditioning.

On Thursday, French BFMTV says, schools will also be shut in the Val-de-Marne and Seine-et-Marne regions near Paris.

In parts of northeastern Spain the heat is expected to reach 45C on Friday. Parts of south Germany and Italy are still below 40C.

The exceptionally hot air has blown in from the Sahara.

What measures have been put in place?

Switzerland is also sizzling, but there the authorities insist that schools will remain open, because working parents cannot be expected to look after their children during the day.

French officials decided that in Paris and Lyon only the least polluting vehicles would be allowed on the roads from Wednesday.

Paris is especially prone to smog in hot weather

Parisian drivers are also being offered free parking places to encourage them to use public transport instead.

France was traumatised by a heatwave in 2003 which was blamed for 15,000 extra deaths.

Nearly all of France is now on orange alert - the second-highest warning level after red - with local authorities issuing advice on how to keep cool.

A Spanish weather forecaster tweeted a map of Spain turning dark red, with the message:

"Hell is coming."

In the state of Saxony-Anhalt, eastern Germany, speed limits have been imposed on motorways because of the risk of severe heat damaging road surfaces.

Meanwhile, police in the state of Brandenburg tweeted a photo of a man who went to extraordinary lengths to keep cool - he was stopped riding his motorbike naked.

Is climate change to blame?

Linking a single event to global warming is complicated.

While extreme weather events like heatwaves occur naturally, experts say these will happen more often because of climate change.

Temperature records going back to the late 19th Century show that the average temperature of the Earth's surface has increased by about one degree since industrialisation.

A climatology institute in Potsdam, Germany, says Europe's five hottest summers since 1500 have all been in the 21st Century.

Scientists are concerned that rapid human-induced warming has serious implications for the stability of the planet's climate.
