Piling wrote:Exchange of emails with the publisher of Beyazidi, concerning the cover. I sent some old pictures of Kurdish tribesmen. He likes one taken by Joyce Blau some decades ago, a handsome Kurd in traditional clothes of warrior, holding a rifle. But he asked me if illustrating a book about Kurdish habits and customs by a man in arm would not be too 'strong' (violent)?
I answered that Kurds are proud of their fighters and that History and current times shows that they are right to be. War for Kurds is 'noble' because they don't slaughter unarmed people, women, children. That Kurds are in love with their peshmergas. And that now, no one (except ISIS) can see a negative message in an old picture of a Kurdish fighter.
So we could hope a handsome and shy and brave Kurdish warrior on the cover
