1) your smartphone is a tracker even if you think you have switched you tracker off

2) your smartphone is also a microphone for any security agency that cares to listen

3) your laptop is also a listening device and both your laptop and smartphone can be switched on remotely

4) never take your smartphone of laptop with you to meetings

5) never use microsoft use Linux operating systems

6) Best of all use an old computer which does not have any built-in bugs

7) Never use Google as a search engine use DuckDuckGo

8 ) NEVER use wireless connections - if it is in the air it is everywhere

9) use a live distro rather than your own computer software - I suggest tails

10) nothing is ever totally deleted on your computer

17) Use different email addresses for different things

DANGER when you send an email you make it possible for:

a) someone to find your location
b) someone to find your email friends
c) someone to find your personal details
d) someone to find your social networks and ALL your contacts

There are many reverse email search companies out the but I believe Spokeo to be one of the best

My friend <3

I hope that you have understood everything so far

Here are a couple more things you must do :-B

18) Do NOT use Google search engine use DuckDuckGo
(I have mention this before but it needs stressing)

https://duckduckgo.com/

Google saves your information and passes it on

DuckDuckGo does not :D

19) You need a Rootkit Hunter

http://rootkit.nl/projects/rootkit_hunter.html

SORRY you really need people friends who have very good English to help you understand the importance of a Rootkit Hunter

A Rootkit Hunter checks your omputer for nasty rootkits, backdoors and possible local exploits. It searchesfor default directories (of rootkits), wrong permissions, hidden files, suspicious strings in kernel modules, and special tests for Linux :-B

20) Firewalls - we Linux users have many opitions of free firewalls - though I have never heard of a Linux user having a virus so I did not deem it very important to mention eariler - if you have installed a Linux distro (you should have by now) you will already have a firewall in your operating system

sourceforge has the best selection of free firewalls - open scource firewalls are developed by people who are not motivated by money but the desire to produce something excellent :ymapplause:

To be honest some firewalls might seem a little complicated - some are extremely easy to installi and use - many offer added security and a proxy server

I reccommend people study the list on sourceforge and find the one they feel confident to use

http://sourceforge.net/directory/os:lin ... q=firewall

21) Are people getting into you computer? Is you firewall good enough?

Test to see just how easy or difficult it is for someone to enter your ports

A basic test is done by using "Shields Up"

PLEASE go to the following link and read about firewall testing:

http://www.ghacks.net/2011/01/13/shield ... ll-online/

After reading the article it is time to check your own computer

Just enter ShieldsUP into your search engine (which is hopefully DuckDuckGo)

Image
This is the company who provide what I believe to be one of the best tests available :ymapplause:

You need to test your ports and your router:

There is no question whether hackers are, in fact, currently sweeping the Internet for the presence of exposed and vulnerable consumer Internet routers in order to gain access to the private networks residing behind them. Just such hacking packets are now being detected across the Internet. Scanning is underway and the threat is real.

Whenever changes are made to your network configuration, whenever you update your router's firmware, and also from time to time just to be sure, you should consider re-running this quick test to confirm that your Internet-facing equipment is continuing to ignore all attempts at its subversion though the Universal Plug n'Play (UPnP) protocols.

Let me introduce you to a security innovation that is fast growing in popularity

The unbugable virus free portable non-electric typewriter :ymparty:

650

An absolute must for anyone wishing to produce secure documents

In a time of evermore advanced communication and data storage the old fashioned typewriter is coming into it's own again

Just remember to remove and destroy the ink ribbon after use and the only people who will know anything about the contents of the document are yourself and anyone who you wish to share it with

Naturally the document will have to be stored somewhere secure - but an old fashioned drop site may well be much more secure in passing on information than the internet :-B

BBC Technology

Tor Project chief says it benefits from cyberspy leaks

Some US and UK cyberspies are deliberately undermining the efforts of their colleagues at the NSA and GCHQ who are trying to carry out surveillance of the "dark web", according to the leading developer of software used to access hidden parts of the internet.

Andrew Lewman, the Tor Project's executive director, alleges members of the two government bodies are regularly leaking it details of flaws in its code after the agencies discover them.

By fixing these flaws, the Tor Project can continue to protect users' anonymity on the net, he explained.

The agencies declined to comment.

Mr Lewman told the BBC's Leo Kelion that he could not prove cyberspies were leaking information, but the evidence strongly suggested that this was the case.
