Erbil-Arbil-Hewler or Hawler?

PostAuthor: dyaoko » Wed Jun 01, 2005 10:41 pm

I am sick of making too much spell for kurdish city names

Erbil-Arbil-Hewler or Hawler?

firs they make an arabic version of the city, then they write that arabic version with Kurdish Latin Script and International Eeglish Script

Erbil -- "Kurdish Latin Script Spell" for Arabic name of the city
Arbil - "International Latin Script Spell" for the Arabic name of the city

Hewler - "Kurdish Latin Script Spell" for Kurdish name of the city
Hawler -International Latin Script Spell" for the Kurdish name of the city

first of all we must delete those Arabic names of the city (Erbil and Arbil)

I asked vladimir for help , to see in Holand, how they write their city names in the news and map , (by dutch scrript or english script ?)
he said in english news and international news they use English Script.

I think we must do the same , we must choose Hawler . not Hewler.

unfortunatly other kurdish medias never felt like to find a solution for this problem but in KBU news we will make the world to choose Hawler Spell.

+ I still didnt get any reply from anybody to help KBU NEWS.
but we are doing the best ALONE ,you must help us .

well Kurdistan TV can use hewler when they show Kurdish programs...
as in holand they use dutch script when they show news in dutch

but when tthey show english news and programs they must use Hawler.
for international news and maps , we must use English Script one not Kurdish Latin.

What you are saying doesn't make any sense... well of course there will be differences... BUT we must ONLY stop calling the cities by arabiz/turkish/persian names... WE MUST KEEP KURDISH NAMES... The Kurdish names HAVE A MEANING.. they aren't JUST words - you can't change an "E" or an "A"... That would suddenly make the meaning of the word disappear... HOW WILL WE THEN CLAIM THAT THE CITY IS KURDISH??... So if we call Dersîm "Tunceli"... Ormî "Orumiyeh" Hewlêr "Hawler" and Amed - "Diyarbakir"... WHAT will that make of our cultural heritage ? Is Kerkûk "Kirkuk"? ITS the same - Just remember that WE are nobosies "slaves" or "servants" - we don't need to make it easier for anybody... if they care LET them come and learn things THE WAY THEY ARE!...

I don't have problems with that DIRI. We just have to make a list with Kurdish names of the cities..
(the important ones) I don't know the Kurdish version of all cities out of my head.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

I was looking to find the damn article on http://www.krg.org where it talks about Hewlêr and where it CLEARLY states that Irbil is the descendant of the word Erbilium which it was named by the BABYLONIANS...the SUMERIANS called it Arbillu or something else strange... and KURDS- Have ALWAYS called it HEWÊR - so we must proceed in this manner - why the hell are we gonna stop call it Hewlêr just because some arabs started using the word after it's death of a thousand years?

Hewlêr it is and Hewlêr it will be - It means the city of the four Gods... ;)
