finally i am here

hi everyone, i followed this forum for some time, finally i decided to join. i am a Kurd living in a cyber world wanting better future for all of people in Kurdistan. i am wishing and planning to gather young Kurds to start a wave in order to shift Kurdistan from a using other nations technologies to build its own.

i don't see any strong manufacture capabilities in Kurdistan, it's not because that Kurds don't have engineers that can operate factories it's because the technology is to expensive to attain. Chinese started with reverse engineering now they are became a world power. Chinese don't respect the trade laws but they took over the world market by their cheap work force and powerful reverse engineering. but they started with information technology, they started to produce cheap copycat electronic devices, now every chip-set in the planet is produced in china.

i suggest we start with information technology, to start a strong, cheap, and secure technology we must have an open source build from scratch operating system. so i invite anyone who is interested and have smallest capabilities to join hands to help creating a operating system.

I am sure that you already know a lot about Linux and the open source community

I am NOT an expert but I imagine it would be fairly easy to use something such as MINT and develop your own distro

Mandrive is a good basis for a distro it has a good sound base coming from Red Hat

The owner of this site is a Linux user so you are in the right place

thanks, but i don't look to create another distro of Linux, what i have in mind is brand new operating system build from scratch. from BIOS to GUI and making a framework to build additional applications for Roj Bash OS. if we attain this then we have the ability to create different version of it that can be used in wast range of devices like PCs, mobile phones, industrial systems, surveillance systems, tracking systems, cars, weapons, super computers and anything that uses programmable chip sets. if we build this from scratch some might say it is reinventing a wheel but if you want to create something secure you have to do this. it became yours and you can do what ever you want with it.
if we create a strong team of young Kurds we can see shining Roj over Kurdistan and whole world.

just to see what can be done if you do it yourself, use this with virtualbox just give it above 512mb ram:

MenuetOS is an Operating System in development for the PC written entirely in 32/64 bit assembly language.

creating a OS needs about 100 well experienced developer and about one year. start is hard but developing is much easier and faster. after frameworks is get ready then everyone with little knowledge of programming can participate in expanding the OS.

we must encourage our universities to contribute in this project. they know and have the list of graduate student that have the capability to put together the development team. after that every software programmer student can work on expanding the capability of OS and not just wast their time on pointless projects.

thanks, but menuetos is not my work it is result of very small community in http://menuetos.net/. they showed Linux is not everything, we can also create something even better than their work.
i choose this forum because it is the biggest English speaking forum for Kurds that i know about. i assumed here i can find the people that interested in my idea.
i didn't contact any universities yet because i want to speak to their students to see their response to the idea, you can't force people to something they don't like specially in open source projects like this.
and for what this site can do for this project, it can be it's birthplace. administration of site can create a special section in the site and send a message about the project to all users, we see the response from the users, then we can approach universities with our proposal.

There is already a Kurdish OS , and it is Ubuntu OS,, it made lots of news in Turkey, Turkey banned the OS and it was in the media, [ofcourse not american media just independent ones]
making an operating system requires a big support team, ubuntu already has that support team and they do have a Kurdish translation team, you can join their Translation team, [or any other famous linux] and help them to make more applications in Kurdish. they would take care of the technical part, you just help the Translating sentences to Kurdish

Joining any community is like a trend in these days sometimes people joined for getting some entertainment but sometime they want to get useful information and knowledge from other community members. I am new in thins forum and want to find out good friends i find this community is highly interesting.
