That's too bad.
A while ago, there was a video online of a poacher in Kurdistan, we sent a message to the KRG, and got a mail back that they were looking into the problem.
This was due to a mine apparently, I wonder, are there still many mines in South Kurdistan?

I find it amazing that we have these animals in Kurdistan. But that won't last for long if things like this keeps happening. They should be protected togheter with other beautiful kurdish animals in a national park or something.

That is a sad story indeed. I love animals and I wish we had more of them in Kurdistan's wild.
What pisses me off more is that the "Murderers" bragging about it! I saw that my self on the national media and FB before. People have to learn that; these "lives" are a national treasure! Like Oil, Mountains, Trees and Language!
Let's have a campaign; "STOP THE KILL".

thats sad.
i dont think all mines are taken away. i read that every year 50 000 people are killed by landmines in vietnam left from the 70s. i bet saddam laid hundreds of thousands of mines in our border areas with iran.
here is a list i found:
There are estimated to be around 110 million anti-personnel mines in the ground and another 100 million stockpiled around the world. More than 350 different types of anti-personnel mines exist. Even if no more mines are ever laid, they will continue to maim and kill for many years to come. Bold steps must be taken now to save future generations of innocent civilians. If sufficient funds are provided, deminers from the International Campaign to Ban Landmines ICBL say that mine clearance necessary to restore daily life to near normal levels may be achieved in years, and not the decades once predicted.
Worst Affected Countries:-
According to the information gathered from the extensive Landmine Monitoring Project by the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), the following countries suffer from some level of mine contamination.
Africa (26 countries)
Somaliland, Chad, Djibouti, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mauritania, Rwanda, Sudan, Zambia, Congo (Brazzaville), Dr Congo, Eritrea, Liberia and Somalia.
Americas (9 countries)
Falklands/Malvinas, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Colombia.
Asia-Pacific (17 countries)
Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Burma, China, India, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Republic of Korea, Laos, Mongolia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
Europe and Central Asia, (25 countries)
Abkhazia, Chechnya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Slovenia, Albania, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Lithuania, Moldova, the Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Yugoslavia.
Middle East and North Africa, (16 countries)
Iraqi Kurdistan, Western Sahara, Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Syria.

It's really sad really

(( They should build a national park for these animals so that they could be preserved and not get extinct. And I had no idea that kurdistan had leopards :O
BTW, It's a leopard. Panthera is the feline genus which contains lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars. If you type in panther in google you will mostly see black panthers because they are commonly known as "Panthers".

First of all this is not a panther it's a snowleopard ( very rare),and to be honest our people are one of the most retarded nation on this planet. This animal have been assultet you can clearly see it! And what makes me angry is that they are laughing in the background like they have made a victory or something! Those people should be in jail right now so they can learn a lesson!

I don't think so, because the Human rights are over the Animal rights. Should the KRG really start to arrest people because of animals? Not even in Europe they arrest people because of that.
And not the guys on the Video kill that panther or snowleopard, he was killed from a mine. Yes they laugh about that, but its not a reason to arrest them.

Well actually, poaching can get you fines to jail time depending on what country you perform the crime in, and to what degree you did the poaching.
I can't disagree with that either, if you kill one of these creatures, especially rare ones like this snowleopard, at least a fine should be followed to set an example. Otherwise, people can go around killing animals, thinking that there's nothing wrong with it, and before you know, a significant portion of Kurdistan's wildlife will be extinct.
In any case, it's cruel to laugh with the animal's death like they did.

You can call it what you want, it is not forbidden to laugh about the death about a animal, it is not even forbidden to laugh about the death about a human, if you are not involved in his death.
It is funny how you all cry because of a animal, we Kurds have bigger problems, do you know that more Kurds in North and East Kurdistan murdered than wild animals?

I never said it's forbidden, I said poaching is forbidden. Indeed, they can laugh with the creature's death, just like one could laugh with a person's death, I'm just saying it's cruel.
