PostAuthor: talsor » Wed Oct 05, 2011 5:58 pm

What is happening to the modern Facebook and Twitter revolutions ? how come it is not working in Kurdistan ? It worked like a charm in Egypt and Libya :D . I mean Northern Kurdistan Is a war zone now with thousands of civilian being arrested , bombartment or kurdish villages , Children being killed , soldiers , Peshmargas and YET not a beeb from CNN or any TV station .

Turkish government very very good at censoring and blocking? I think Turkish government has ability to do mass moderations on internet. Personally I don't use facebook or twitter, find it boring and sad, thats just my opinion. If you want to make friends, real life is the best option.

In case you didn't notice, it's because we are regarded the most painful and useless shit this world has to offer. When discussing the genocides of WW1, the Christian victims are endlessly whined about, but the 400,000 dead Kurds however, are never, ever mentioned. And yet, when oil is to be obtained, the Anfal is considered a fact by the very same Westerners who armed the bastards. And even then it's not sufficient for them to acknowledge that we do not constitute to the 'Iraqi' nation, and to consider us worthy of having an independent state.

Why do we always expect so much from the outside world? We're like a baby crocodile that just hatched from its egg. We have the illusion that even without a recognized independent state, we are ready to participate in the outside world on every level, but in reality this 'outside world' is very hostile, and by many we are actually considered an intellectually primitive pit that will obey to any superior nation and is resistancelessly subjected to foreign dominance. That's why I think we should reject it, since this continuous appeal for recognition and significance, without any result or success, has become a source for humiliation.

This has nothing to do with censoring or blocking , after all Egypt and Libya were able to block the internet successfully .

Yeh your right because theres always a way around the blocking. Hmm maybe northern Kurds just don't use the internet effectively or in such numbers. Whats the figures?

Long time we carry on action on twitter, also there are a lot of active accounts on facebook - these sides, heval jjimuneer , are not only for so called "making friends" - a lot of people use them for some useful activities. If i didnt use twitter, i wouldnt know about demonstrations in London, the same facebook - they are not typical rubbish dating websites with stupid :"hello babe, you are sexy, give me your number" - for all time i use facebook only two times i get that kind of messages, while on the site called tagged it was few a day - thats why i dont use it any more (still keep account and sign in to post messages about demonstrations).
Its hard to say how many people, for example from bakur use them for useful things, but there is pretty good number of us on twitter, using #twitterkurds keyword (and others as well). On facebook there are some activists from all over the world - Houzan Mahmoud Xan and Hevallo from london, heval Kani Xulam from Washington, PJAK pages etc. I got a lot of news about Kurdistan via Facebook and twitter.
