Which one came first: chicken or egg? Chicken
All living beings evolved from a single cell through the course of evolution. When this single cell multiplied and changed to diversified different living beings, none of their kinds had wings to fly. They all lived on land or in water and none of them laid eggs to reproduce, the new born always developed inside the womb of the female. Each one of them became a hunter and hunted except only plant eaters, who became only a hunted. The struggle between hunters and the hunted involved a lot of chasing. The instinct to run fast from hunters through the course of evolution changed physical shape of some species, which were the target of hunters most of the time. These species gradually developed wings as a best solution to run from hunters. But this created a new problem for the pregnant females of these flying living beings. Gradually this problem was solved by laying eggs, instead of becoming pregnant. Chickens were flying in the past. But they lost this ability during the course of the evolution for one reason or another.
