Homework, a backlog of assignments, family duties, social codes, bills to pay, job uncertainty, unstable economy, societys expectation of us - these are all stressful and they are what we all have in common.
Those are the challenges, fears and responsibilities that we really need to know and face, otherwise they will fetch tension and stagnant feeling on a daily basis into our lives. Additionally, the burdens of unemployment can very easily add to the level of pressure.
Above all are deadlines. Deadlines can be scary and sometimes threaten our mental and physical aptitude. I have heard of chilling stories of students hanging themselves—I actually went to the funeral of a student who hanged himself using a fan and rope.
Stress is inevitable. We have seen students falling asleep in class, fainting during studying, chewing gum, sucking their thumbs, yawning, whistling, texting, and making up excuses for not doing their homework.
The most vital steps toward overcoming any strain or problem is defining the source of the thing that holds you back and prioritizing the thing that youre passionate about and can do successfully.
Students priorities are assignments because teachers are sometimes intolerable, while parents priorities are innumerable. They include long hours, providing a safe environment for their children in terms of food and clothing, taking care of their health, continuous commitment and guidance.
In our rushed lives, we are all surrounded by dilemmas, tiresome duties and demanding jobs. We sometimes feel infuriated, sleepless, disordered, depressed, and vulnerable.
When we cannot hang on to our job, self-blame and regret will knock on the door of our mind and heart. When something is not under our control, the worst thing to do is to resort to self-sympathy. Taking responsibility has a greater chance of success than self-pity.
Stress is a part of life and it comes from numerous sources. In my opinion, there is no good or bad way to find relief from stress- it just depends on the individual. If you are stressed regularly, it means you are a healthy person. To be healthier, you have to find a way to manage it.
In my personal experience, I find wisdom in the story of the thirsty and determined crow who, after coming upon a jug of water and is both unable to reach the water or tip it over, takes up the time consuming task of dropping small pebbles into the jug thus raising the water level until it is able to drink from it. It is a lesson in the power of taking small steps and remaining determined.
On the whole, I sometimes get rid of stress by texting, calling, and skyping friends, visiting relatives, going out with friends, listening to songs, doing some shopping, and preparing for my job. Other times, I play football, watch a comedy, take my family out for dinner, take a long walk, and read an inspiring book. The last three are my ultimate favorites- for they make me more imaginative and comfortable thereby using more creative means to relieve stress.
