Marriage & Divorce in Islam

Hi everybody,

I have just one quick question. If am Imam marries a Muslim and a non Muslim, in the presence of two witnesses, how can you take a divorce? I am aware that the man can only divorce the woman so in this case when the man is Muslim and the woman non Muslim, what does he have to do to divorce her? Can her divorce her without her knowledge? I mean can he say "I divorce you" to himself without her hearing it or reading it let's say in a message for instance? I assume it will differ where the marriage has taken place, i.e. in Kurdistan or Europe or somewhere else. Let's assume it's Europe or a non Muslim, non conservative country.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Are you allowed 2 wifes in Europe... and why is a imam marrying a non muslim just kidding, but I have no idea for non muslim countries your not allowed 2 wifes. Reminds me of this guy in Canada who brang both his wives and claimed one was his daughter.

Oh but no one is talking about two wives. It's not allowed in Europe anyways. I just want to know how you can get divorced in Islam if the man is Muslim and the woman isn't.

Oh sorry I misread. I think you would just do it the traditional west way by sending papers of divorce.

I thought there are no papers when you get married with an Imam, isn't it?

If they are married with an Imam, the man must say 3 times clearly that he want a divorce, at the third time the decision is completed. But he can do it only if the woman is not pregnant.

Ok but to whom does he have to say it? To the woman or to any person at all?
