But I never want to be 'Kurdish', lol. Such obsession of identities are so childish.

They're not childish. They affect everything from daily life, to opportunities and position, socio-economics, faith, culture, politics. Just a very basic example, do you think a kurd would be treated the same way you would, in france? Or vice versa.

The way that people consider you has nothing to do with the way you consider yourself. If you see yourself as a victim, you will be one, whatever happen.

Moreover I haven't heard Kurds in France complaining about discrimination, except judiciary actions against PKK.
French people don't know exactly what is a Kurd, in fact, so they think nothing about them, nor in bad nor in good. There are too few : hardly 300 000 in all the country, more probably 250 000.

I'm not talking about being a victim, discrimination or anything like that, that stuff rarely happens in the open daily. I'm just talking socially speaking and beyond that, how people perceive others, how they approach them, how they act, what they think, what they associate, what they ask. What standards they use. But since you mention discrimination, you have to be honest and cannot say that discrimination doesn't happen, that would be stupid to do.

I wasn't talking about discrimination, even if that happens to some degree. My own experiences tell me otherwise.

I am listening to interesting courses of paleontology, by Michel Brunet, Collège de France, who says that for the moment, hominids are 7 millions of years old.

And during these 7 millions of years, they have spent 5 millions living in Africa. So all the population of hominids in Eurasia have spent less than 1/3 of their existence out of Africa. Oceania and American are more newcomers.

As Homo sapiens, we were more in hurry to leave : Appearing at - 200 000 years in Eastern African, the first exodus toward Eurasia began at -125 000. So Eurasian population stayed 75 000 years in Africa.

Re: My thoughts of the day

PostAuthor: Piling » Mon Aug 12, 2013 5:19 pm

This morning, on Facebook I posted that :

“Pareil à Danaos, premier navigateur et pilote prudent autant que prévoyant, pronoos, le bon timonier doit avoir pesé tous les coups, en bon joueur de tric-trac : il lui faut prévoir les sautes de vent, opposer ruse à ruse, guetter l’occasion fugitive d’inverser le rapport des forces.”
Marcel Detienne & Jean-Pierre Vernant, 'Les ruses de l’intelligence ou la mètis chez les Grecs'.

So a Kurds asked me to translate it in Kurdish. That is a very hard job and I tried to do it, probably with mistakes as it is not my mother language :

"Wek Danaos, ku gemîvanê pêşimîn û sergûhêzekê bi bal û berbîn bû, ‘pronoos’, dumanciyê biker divê her şek bercewend bike, wek tewlebazê xweş be : lazim e guherbariyên bayan ber bibîne, befende hemberê berfende rarû bixîne, û ji bo çiqlaniya hêzan vajî bike, firset biçarne."
\

As he complained it was hard to understand I've found the English translation from French :

"Like Danaos, the first navigator and a pilot as prudent as he was foreseeing, 'pronoos', the good helmsman must weigh up all the chances like a good player of backgammon ; he must foresee the sudden changes in the wind, meet cunning with cunning and spy out the fleeting opportunities to reverse the balance of powers." Cunning Intelligence in Greek Culture and Society, Marcel Detienne & Jean-Pierre Vernant.

Each translation is not exactly the exact photocopy of the original version, but translating is always adapting. Btw, if some Kurds have corrections to do on the Kurdish version, they are welcomed.

Confucius told :

Goodness without study turns to stupidity ; wisdom without study is superficial ; good faith without study leads to banditry; righteousness without study leads to harshness ; bravery without study leads to disorder, without study rigor leads to the madness of fanaticism

Bê xwendin, başî lajigî dibe ; bê xwendin, hikmet demxaw dibe ; bawerî bê xwendin cerdevanî dibe ; dirustî bê xwendin bihîşkî dibe ; bê xwendin, azahî ajawe bigêre ; bê xwendin, sertî zordariya dîncitiyê dibe.

Just discover the existence of the ASMR community and also that not everybody can have trigger sensations. (as Synesthesia I thought that it was largely common).

Definitively my brain is weird but considering ASMR I love it.

Zhuangzi told :

Are there wild horses or dust flying in the air or living cretures blowing on each other ? Is Blue the natural color of the sky or the simple reflect of an infinite distance ? Because there, the P'eng see down the same color as we see here from the bottom up.

Have you noticed how many of the well known philosophers such as Confucius - are actually Chinese - their philosophies appears to have governed much of the pre-communist way of life - Chines eat healthy food :ymhug:

There do not appear to be any modern-day philosophers with such insights as those of ancient China - though there have been a few excellent Kurdish philosophers - most Kurds no nothing about them - they have been overlooked by the world at large :ymsigh:

Confucius was probably the main commentator of Yi Jing and it is exactly his thought : concrete answers and attitudes to practical problems.

Taoists and Buddhists are more abstracts and also more provocative in their poetic way to return the sense of life.

Kurds had philosophers but like other Iranian philosophers they were mystics also, like Ehmedê Xanî or Ostad Elahî.

Nowadays Kurdish students in philosophy try often to conciliate Western and Islamic philosophies. I knew a Kurdish student who had wanted to write her phd about the essence of Being in Heidegger and Rumî but her teacher did know nothing about Eastern thinkers then she had to renounce. In Western universities that's the problem : you study Eastern philosophy or Western's and between them, no bridge, that's the bad thing from French scholars, they are against any kind of comparative studies.

Let's hope that in Kurdistan there will be one day a new school of philosophy which update the past and present in Kurdish philosophy.
