‘And, if she is a young and beautiful widow, who is the sister of your friend, have you not thought of marrying her?’ he asked.

‘Yes,’ I admitted. ‘I have. But I could not bring myself to think of her in that way. She would always be wanting to go to Brighton, or Bath, or London, or Weymouth, and I like to spend my time in Highbury.’

‘That is the worst reason for not marrying a woman I have ever come across! Surely some agreement could be reached?’ ‘

If I loved her, yes. But I have no feelings for her. I did not miss her when she returned to Bath for a spell.’

‘Why should you, indeed? You had plenty to do. You could not expect to pine for her like a lovesick schoolboy. You would not miss anyone if you were deprived of their company for a short time.’

‘I always miss Emma when I am away from Highbury.’

‘Do you?’ he asked in surprise. ‘

Yes, I do.’

‘I see.’

He looked at me thoughtfully. ‘And is there no one else you have seen who might interest you? No woman who has caught your fancy, or entertained you, or intrigued you?’ ‘

A few, but my interest in them quickly fades. When I think of them in my future I realise that the idea of an evening with one of them is not as enticing to me as the idea of an evening at Hartfield; and I would be a fool to give up something I already have, in order to replace it with something I will like less.’

‘And have you met no great beauties?’

‘Some. But I think that society’s view of beauty and my own do not match. I prefer to look at Emma.’

‘Do you indeed?’

‘Yes. I do.’

‘And what does all this tell you?’ he asked me.

‘That I have not yet met the right woman, and that there is no use me marrying unless it will make my life more agreeable than the life I have already: tending my estate, visiting my neighbours and spending my evenings with Emma.’

He laughed, though I did not know why. There was nothing very funny in what I had said.

‘I have a feeling you will be married before the year is out,’ he told me.

I pinch myself and I wonder if I dream or not : I could have found the ideal job in Kurdistan.

2. Seem as soon as possible, some people are already preparing my new home (painting and all that)
3. it often happens that when you stop to hope something it comes without effort, when you stop to believe it.

CONGRATULATIONS

Have you got any photos of your new home?

The most important question is "Who is going to take care of Piling?"

I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your present - an exercise bike if I remember rightly ;)

You will need the bike if you are having a French ALL DAY celebratory meal 8-}

Kurdish drivers are so mad that it's better to bike at home and not on the roads :-D

But if I 'd known that I shoud bring a heavy and big toy to Kurdistan I would have chosen another gift
