To all members: how progressive/conservative are your views?

PostAuthor: Zert » Sun Aug 19, 2012 9:43 am

Ok, I thought that the average person on this forum was quite liberally-minded, but it seems some are quite conservative. Thus, I created a poll, with a wide range of questions; please vote so we can get a good idea of the average RBK's member's views.
It's multiple choice.

I really don't think you should equate Progressive with Liberal. If we want to look at it from a nationalist prespective, then conversativism, in a broad sense I mean is what path we should follow.

I think Zert your first mistake was putting the word "Support" in before every question. There are things I do not support yet tolerate/accept.

I support "freedom of speech" in most cases yet not if "freedom of speech" is used to insult hardly other ethnic and religious groups or someone personally going to much in privacy.

I would not hang or arrange marriage a Girl/Woman who had sex before marriage. If she finds a man who accepts her its their choice, yet I dont support it or accept it as something "normal".

This is what I totally oppose:

- honor killing
- arranged marriages
- FGM (that's really something we should be ashamed of as it occurs in our society, together with honor killing)
- women staying at home and doing house chores
- tribalistic society

I can live with the fact that cousin marriages are allowed, though I don't like it. However, it is legal in almost (if not all) countries.

I also support gay rights, though you wouldn't see me on the streets protesting for it or me at a gay parade.

I didn't vote for the interracial/interethnic thing, because I don't want more Kurds to lose their language and culture.

I also tolerate sex before marriage and dating, though if I had a child, I would prefer that he/she didn't have sex before marriage.

Actually this is something very new to me, I have never heard of such a thing anywhere in Kurdistan expect, Kirkuk, Erbil Sulaymaniah. It is a typical ceremony in Muslim African countries like Ethiopia.

Newer members, don't refrain from voting!
Although I think we've got a pretty good view of the views of the average member here.
