[Sorry for duplicative post. Discovered this specific topic only after I posted this in "Kurdistan" above. Still, post is relevant to both -- i.e., to both religion and to the KRG's view of free speech.]
The book Sex, Sharia and Women in the History of Islam, by Mariwan (sp. Marywan) Halabjaee (sp. Halabjay, Halabjayee, Halabjaye, Halabjayi), "the Salman Rushdie of Iraqi-Kurdistan," has now been published on the Internet. You can find the book at, you guessed it, Sex, Sharia and Women in the History of Islam.
The book can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, compressed ZIP format, compressed RAR format (the format originally provided by The Kurdistani), and as jpegs for each individual page.
The book was made available by BoPeshawa.com and first published online by The Kurdistani.
FWIW, I wrote an article about this: Sex, Sharia and Women in the History of Islam published on the Internet.
