No i had never heard of him until you said, so i typed his name in google i think hes known as Saidi Keri to most Kurds..thanks for mentioning him, most of the sites are by Turks claiming he was a Turk but clearly he is a Kurd, cos as i found out he was born in Nurs, a Kurdish city in the Kurdistani area of Turkey, which is why he got his name "nursi". Some kurds need to re-write history to stop nationalistic turks claiming all our great kurds were turks

Said Nursi was Islamic, but he didn't help the Kurds much.

Saïd Nursi was an "Ottoman sufi", not a nationalist, neither Kemalist nor pro-Kurdish. He was agaisnt Kemalism and secularism and refused to be involved in the regime. He did not help "Kurdistanism" but did not fight it. His way was different, specfically religious.

I know. I wrote a few articles about him. You also have a Nursi movement now. But it's sometimes damaged by Turkish state Islamism.
