Kaaba a Hindu Temple?

PostAuthor: Tirigan » Fri Jul 14, 2006 9:20 pm

According this site Ka'aba was a fire temple.

http://www.hinduism.co.za/kaabaa.htm

I think this is not true, but it's interesting to read.

I find the theory to be quiet interesting. Of course there isn't substantial proof but it is interesting nonetheless. I don't know why anyone would think this is disrespectful. We live in the 21st century but we still have so many people who condemn any thoughts not accepted by the mass.
When I am in my death bed, I want to have lived my life based on my own choices not what others chose for me.

There is absolutely nothing disrespectful about the post, I didn't read all of it, but trust me I will. I am pretty sure that the Kaba didn't spread to Arabia, but it was a known fact that the kabba wasn't built by the Muslims, it was built by the Pagans.

Sicpit, could you please open a thread about the Hindu contact with Kurds? :)

And by the way - the Kaba was built by Abraham... No wait... Was it Adam???

Yes, I will soon. I am no expert in Hindu theology as it is very, very broad subject. Too many diferent sects, and conflicting history. It's also hard to compare Indian culture to that of the ancient Kurds, as much of Sumerian(kurd) is still a mystery.

As far as the Kaba, I can't say for sure who built it, but I don't think we have any evidence, in reality I don't know so I am not going say anything on it.

IT IS TRUE to a degree....well not a pure hindu temple , but it contains a stone shaped in a lingam , the arabs of arabia at the time traded with indians heavily so, their religious ideas spread there. A lingam is a stone structure which represents the space in which the universe creates and destroys itself symbolically . It represents the unity of man and woman The idols in the kaaba were removed.

Another thing , the arabs or arabia pre mohammed was pretty much a bedouin and trader society it wasnt very sophisticated as compared civilizations in Babylon and civilizations in the Levant like the phoenicians and ancient Syrians. Im not saying that article is totally true but they are always some derivative elements in relgions which are relatively new. When christianity came to Rome , the gods changed but the rituals didnt it. So instead of Jupiter, Mars and Venus they were replaced by The father , The son and the Holy ghost.

Good points Raman... :)

Although there is little proof that the Kaaba was built by Hindus or for Hinduist purposes, one can draw pretty much any conclusion one likes, when an object has uncertain origins...
