Ukrainian drones targeted Kremlin

The Kremlin stated that Putin was left unharmed by the attack and that Russia reserves the right to initiate retaliation against Kiev's attempt to strike at the Kremlin

The press service of the Kremlin said on Wednesday that two UAVs attempted to target the Kremlin residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Two unmanned aerial vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin," the statement said.

The Kremlin stated that Putin was left unharmed by the attack and that Russia reserves the right to initiate retaliation against Kiev's attempt to strike at the Kremlin.

"As a result of this terrorist act, the President of the Russian Federation was not injured. The schedule of his work has not changed, it continues as usual," the statement said.

"The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit," it added.

The Kremlin further stated that it considered the attempted drone attack on the presidential palace as a planned terrorist act and an attempted assassination against Putin.

"We regard these actions as a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the Russian president, carried out on the eve of Victory Day, the May 9 Parade, at which the presence of foreign guests is also planned," the statement read.

Shortly after the incident, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Wednesday that Moscow implemented a nationwide ban on the launch of UAVs. However, the ban will not apply to drones deployed by state authorities.

Russia electronic warfare

Russia’s use of electronic warfare potential has increased exponentially since the onset of the war. The tactic which is cheap and easy to implement proved to be highly effective in incapacitating Ukraine’s prized possession weapon

CNN reported that Russia has been increasingly employing electronic jammers to distort the precision of Ukraine’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems. The jammers distort the mobile rocket by throwing off the targeting system’s GPS guide causing the rockets to miss their targets.

US-manufactured HIMARS have been Ukraine’s key weapon in the war: described as the “most revered and feared” weapon in Ukraine’s arsenal. Ukraine currently employs 18 American HIMARS with another 20 anticipated to be received soon, with a steady influx of GMLRS shells (which serve as munition for the HIMARS) from the US’ routine packages of military aid.

The rocket systems have been pivotal for Ukraine’s deterrence capacity: allowing them to fire salvos of six successive missiles with only a 3-meter margin of error in precision targeting sites as far as 80 kilometers away.

However, over the past few months, Russians have mastered the art of jamming technology rendering the American masterpiece increasingly less effective.

Electronic jamming and countermeasures

Informed Western sources told CNN that American and Ukrainian officials have been persistently trying to override Russia’s jamming technology by updating the HIMARS software. However, the updated measures have been met with sophisticated Russian jamming technology.

A Pentagon official described it as a “constant cat-and-mouse game”: whereby the Americans try to countermeasure only for the Russians to then counteract that countermeasure. To sustain the efficacy of the HIMARS, the Pentagon official added, constant tweaking needs to be made: noting that software updates to the HIMARS have been done as recently as this week.

“If their jamming gets more sophisticated, then your countermeasures have to get more sophisticated,” CNN quoted a British official saying.

However, CNN reported, citing a US official, that there’s a limited number of configurations of software updates that can be coded into the HIMARS: thus, the electronic battle of jamming and de-jamming is a losing game for Kiev and their allies given the limited margin of maneuver which the HIMARS software allows for.

The more efficient alternative tactic is switching up the medium and attacking the hardware seat of the jammers, which the American official confirmed was underway. The US is reportedly assisting and advising Ukrainian forces on identifying and destroying the Russian jamming tech, according to the Official cited in the CNN report.

According to the recently leaked Pentagon documents, identifying and destroying Russian jammers has been categorized as a “high priority” effort for the US over recent months.

“We will continue to advocate/recommend that those jammers are disrupted/destroyed to the maximum extent possible,” the document reads.

On-Field Practical Significance

Russia’s use of electronic warfare potential has increased exponentially since the onset of the war. The tactic which is cheap and easy to implement proved to be highly effective in incapacitating Ukraine’s prized possession weapon: stifling Ukraine’s advancement efforts.

The report contends that the long-awaited Ukrainian spring counter-offensive relies heavily on HIMARS to make headway through Russian lines: such that the HIMARS are necessary to make effective deep strikes.

“It’s one thing to be able to hold the Russians off where they are right now. It’s another thing to drive them out,” retired US Army Brig. Gen. Steven Anderson told CNN. “They’re dug in, they’ve been there for a year.”

The jamming of the mobile HIMARS was assessed to be very "significant" to the development of the war by a drone pilot on the eastern front, ever since the Russians had started doubling down on jamming efforts last November.

HIMARS' effectiveness, according to a second drone operator in the southern Kherson region, has considerably diminished although they are still highly important and relied upon, they are no longer as dominant as they once were.

Russia cannot lose Ukraine

RFK Jr. says Russia has "an artillery advantage" as it has been "building up forces" while the US cannot afford to replace the arms lost in the war

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. revealed in an interview with All-In Podcast that "Russians cannot lose in Ukraine, as this is existential to them."

He added: "We are being told they are losing, but they cannot afford to lose." According to RFK Jr., Russia has "an artillery advantage" as it has been "building up forces" while the US cannot afford to replace the arms lost in the war - the seemingly unlimited amount to Ukraine.

He said that the Biden administration, which has been prolonging the war, has been showing "absolute intransigence" to the many chances given to end the war. adding that he believes this comes as a result of the US "mission to maximize casualties, to prolong what is, essentially, a war of attrition."

The lawyer-turned-politician sees that the "real story" goes back to 2014, when "the US government and, in particular, the neocons in the White House and elsewhere participated in and supported the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Ukraine."

RFK Jr. explained that back then, an "anti-Russian" US-installed government "started enacting a series of laws that turned the Russian populations of the Donbass region into 'second-class' citizens. They illegalized, essentially, their language and culture, and then, ultimately, began killing them."

He pointed out that the Ukraine issue could have been resolved if the Minsk Accords of 2014 had been stuck to, stressing that there is no doubt that the US was actively integrating Ukrainian forces into NATO - a "red line" for Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
Democratic party is 'a party of war'

In February, Mark Cancian, a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies said: "Without US support, and then... the broader European and global support, the Ukrainians would have collapsed".

However, RFK Jr. doesn't think that Ukraine cannot go on fighting without US aid, vowing that if he became president, he would resolve the war. He also described US President Joe Biden as a "go-to-war guy."

A couple of days ago, the Democratic presidential candidate said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could have avoided going to war with Russia by simply declining to join NATO.

"In 2019 actor and comedian Volodymyr Zelensky ran as the peace candidate winning the Ukrainian presidency with 70% of the vote. As Benjamin Abelow observes in his brilliant book, 'How the West Brought War to Ukraine,' Zelensky almost certainly could have avoided the 2022 war with Russia simply by uttering five words - 'I will not join NATO'," he tweeted.

Sadly, because Robert F. Kennedy Jr dares to mention the legally binding Minsk agreement and Ukraine's illegal attacks on the Donbass, many of his posts get taken down :(

US downgrades tanks to Ukraine

U.S. officials and military experts emphasized that it was a necessary precaution in case the Russians capture one of the vehicles and exploit them for intelligence

USA Today reported that the delivery of the M1 Abrams will be delayed, projecting the tanks will probably not be employed by the Ukrainian forces in the initial phases of the anticipated counteroffensive.

The delay is reportedly due to the tanks being stripped of sensitive technology in fear of them being apprehended by Russian forces during combat.

U.S. officials and military experts emphasized that it was a necessary precaution in case the Russians capture one of the vehicles and exploit them for intelligence.

"It may or may not present opportunities for Russia to do testing on it, and to look for vulnerabilities," Colin Smith, an expert on the Russian military, was quoted as saying.

The Pentagon typically sends downgraded versions of its weapons technology to allied countries to save the most technologically advanced weapons for their own army, and in the case of Ukraine, there is also the risk of Russian apprehension of the tech.

Back in April, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that The United States is expediting its timeline for providing M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

US media reported that 31 Abrams tanks would arrive in Germany soon, with training expected to last for 10 weeks, while the tanks themselves are expected to reach Ukraine by fall, the reports said.

US Defense Department spokesperson Pat Ryder said in late March that the United States would adhere to its "expedited timeline" to deliver the Patriot aid and missile defense system to Ukraine.

Victory Day: Civilization

During his speech, Putin pointed out that civilization is at a "turning point": noting that any ideology of superiority is unacceptable

President Putin congratulated Russians on the 78th anniversary of Victory Day: drawing parallels between the war today and the second world war.

"A real war has been unleashed against our motherland again. But we have repulsed international terrorism, we will protect the people of Donbas, we will ensure our security," Putin said at the military parade in Moscow.

Putin added that, civilization is at a "turning point": noting that any ideology of superiority is unacceptable.

"Like the vast majority of people on the planet, we want to see a future of peace, freedom, and stability. Any ideology of superiority is inherently disgusting, criminal, and deadly."

Putin pointed out that the collective West provokes conflicts and color revolutions, and destroys traditional values.

In regard to Ukraine, Putin contended that Kiev has fell hostage to the Euromaidan coup in 2014, and has been rendered into a bargaining chip in the hands of the West against Russia

“Over-the-top ambitions, arrogance, and lack of accountability inevitably turn into tragedies. This is the reason for the catastrophe that the Ukrainian people are now going through. It became a hostage of the coup and the criminal regime of its Western masters that had developed on its basis, a bargaining chip in the implementation of their cruel selfish plans,” Putin said.

It was reported earlier that around 1,000 people in Berlin including Germans, Russia, and other nationals of former Soviet Republics gathered at Brandenburg Gate around noon and marched towards the Soviet War Memorial: commemorating the fallen soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War.

Sputnik's correspondent reported that the March was interrupted recurrently by the police. Additionally, members of the Immortal Regiment were reportedly not allowed to spend a minute of silence in front of the memorial.

The reporter noted that such restrictive measures by the German authorities on Victory Day are unprecedented.

In World War II Russia was the country that freed us all from the NAZIS

In the Soviet Union about 27,000,000, both civilian and military died from war-related causes

PS:

The Ukraine supported NAZIS in WW2, Donbass did NOT

Now Russia is once again fighting NAZIS but instead of supporting Russia and it's quest to free the Donbass, the US and Europe are intentionally arming the Kiev NAZI regime

PPS:

Just a reminder, the Minsk agreement giving the people of the Donbass certain rights and freedoms was excepted into INTERNATIONAL LAW

Kiev broke that law by attacking the Donbass for NINE YEARS

All those countries supporting Kiev,s attacks on the Donbass are in fact breaking international law

Germans against Ukraine in NATO

According to a YouGov poll, only 55% of Germans support peace talks between Kiev and Moscow

A new YouGov poll revealed that a majority of Germans oppose Ukraine joining NATO.

The poll, commissioned by the German agency dpa, was conducted before the Ukrainian President is scheduled to visit Berlin.

According to the study, when questioned about the Ukrainian issue and possible solutions, 55% of respondents said they supported peace talks between Moscow and Kiev, while 28% opposed discussions.

The news agency provided no information on the number of respondents or the specific date of the survey, just stating that it was conducted shortly before Zelensky's scheduled trip to Germany.

Earlier this month, the Berliner Tageszeitung reported, citing an unknown police source, that Zelensky was scheduled to visit Berlin on May 13 and meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz before traveling to Aachen to receive the Charlemagne Prize.

The disclosure was deemed reckless by the Ukrainian presidential administration. According to German media, the state visit might be canceled due to security concerns.

In September, Zelensky revealed that Ukraine has applied to join NATO on a fast track. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin Spokesperson, said Moscow was closely following the situation and reminded that Kiev's inclination toward the alliance was one of the grounds for Russia's military operation in Ukraine to begin in February 2022.

Russia sees NATO expansion as a threat, especially that over the years, the Cold War-era alliance expanded eastward, putting Russian interests at risk.

For Ukraine to join NATO would mean NATO military bases at Russia's doorstep, which led to Moscow's operation in Ukraine in the first place.

Majority of Germans oppose NATO

More than half of the German population is also in favour of peace talks between Kiev and Moscow, a new survey has shown

More than half of Germans do not support the idea of Ukraine joining NATO, a YouGov poll commissioned by Germany’s dpa news agency has shown. As many as 54% of the survey respondents opposed such a prospect, the news agency reported on Friday.

Only 27% of those polled said they would agree to offer Kiev the prospect of membership in the US-led military bloc.

In April, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed that most Europeans would not understand if Kiev does not get a “well-deserved invitation” to join NATO. The Ukrainian leader is now expected to take part in a NATO summit in Lithuania in July, according to dpa.

Germans, meanwhile, mostly want Kiev to start negotiations with Moscow instead, the YouGov poll showed. According to the survey, 55% of respondents called for negotiations between Russian and Ukraine on ending the ongoing conflict. Only 28% opposed such an initiative.

The poll comes as Berlin has just announced another massive weapons package for Ukraine. Worth more than €2.7 billion ($2.95 billion), the new arms delivery is expected to include four German-made ground-based IRIS-T air-defense systems – something the German Armed Forces themselves do not yet possess – as well as 30 Leopard 1 battle tanks, 20 infantry fighting vehicles, 100 armored personnel carriers, 18 wheeled self-propelled artillery systems and 200 reconnaissance drones.

“With this valuable contribution of urgently needed military equipment, we are showing once again that Germany is serious about its support,” Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Saturday. He did not elaborate on when the arms are expected to be delivered to Ukraine, though.

The deputy head of the Conservative Union (CDU/CSU) parliamentary faction, Johann Wadephul, has called on Berlin to allow Ukrainians to use the German-made weapons against targets inside Russia. “Neither under international law nor politically is there any reason why Ukraine shouldn’t be allowed to attack targets in Russia,” he told Tagesspiegel daily.

Meanwhile, the German public has been wary of the massive military support provided to Kiev throughout the conflict. In February, almost two thirds of Germans polled opposed providing Kiev with fighter jets, a survey showed. In December 2022, a YouGov poll indicated that 45% were against sending German Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.

A number of German celebrities and public figures also sent two open letters addressed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz in which they asked Berlin to stop sending arms to Ukraine and to “do everything” instead to reach a ceasefire “as soon as possible” and find a “compromise that both sides can accept.”

Russia previously repeatedly warned that “pumping” Ukraine with weapons would only prolong the human suffering and create risks of further escalation of the hostilities up to a direct confrontation between Moscow and NATO. It also said it was ready for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, as long as its goals are achieved and its interests are taken into account.

Patriot missile system hit in Ukraine

The United States reveals that its Patriot missile system was indeed damaged in Ukraine, though it is unclear the extent of the damage done to the battery

The Russian armed forces damaged a US-made Patriot air defense system in Ukraine due to missile barrages in and around Kiev early Tuesday, a US official told CNN.

The US claimed that it was still assessing to what degree the system was damaged by the Russian missiles, and that will determine whether the system would need to be pulled back or just repaired on the battlefield.

"A high-precision strike by the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system in the city of Kiev hit a US-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile system," Russia's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday in a post on Telegram.

According to the Ministry, Russian air defense systems have intercepted seven Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles over the past day.

In addition, it highlighted that Ukraine lost up to 215 soldiers in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, adding that fighting in the western part of Bakhmut is ongoing.

Ukraine only has two Patriot air defense systems on its soil, one provided by the US and the other given jointly by Germany and the Netherlands. Just one of these two being out of service would greatly hinder Kiev's ability to defend itself as Russia takes the missile attack route in the war.

Dutch PM Mark Rutte said in January that the Netherlands intended to follow suit with the United States and Germany in sending a Patriot air defense system battery.

"We have the intention to join what you are doing with Germany on the Patriot project," Rutte said ahead of talks with President Joe Biden at the White House.

The Patriot system is a complex one that operates using several components, the most major of which are radars, a control station, generators, and antennas, as well as a launching station and interceptor missiles aimed at self-defense. They all cooperate and make it the behemoth it is, though it proved Tuesday to not be a match for Russia's barrages of missiles.

If one or more of the components happens to be damaged extensively, Ukraine might be forced to take the system offline and possibly even out of the country for the US to repair.

US officials believe the Russian military has been able to pick up on signals that are emitted from the Patriot, allowing them to target the system using the Kinzhal hypersonic missile.

Politico reported in early May that the US-made Patriot air defense systems and the Ukrainian forces the United States trained on the system arrived in Ukraine a week earlier after completing training in the state of Oklahoma.

The Patriot systems and Ukrainian forces completed training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and were then transported to Ukraine, the report said, citing a senior US Defense Department official.

Some 65 Ukrainian soldiers were undergoing training on how to operate the Patriot system. They were expected to continue preparations for operating the system in Europe once they finish training in the United States.

The soldiers, as reported by the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, recently completed their training on the Patriot air defense system.

"In addition, there are about 2,500 Ukrainian soldiers conducting training right now in Germany. Another 8,800, almost 9,000, have completed training and returned to Ukraine," Milley said.

Remember:
The Minsk agreement protecting people of the Donbass from attack by Kiev, was entered into INTERNATIONAL LAW by the UN Security Council

Ukraine has been breaking that law by attacking the Donbass for 9 YEARS

The Russian government was asked by the Donbass to protect them

Prior to that the Donbass and Russia on behalf on the Donbass, made many appeals to the UN and the International community for help and protection from Kiev

Russia has constantly asked for peace talks and twice Russia and Ukraine were on the verge of signing peace agreements when Boris Johnson (while he was PM), at the behest of the US, psychically rushed over and interceded preventing the signing of said peace agreement

To my mind, Boris Johnson is responsible for ALL the deaths that have been taking place since he prevented the peace treaty from being signed and should be charged with war crimes

We have confirmation that the US by providing weapons to Ukraine is prolonging the attacks on Donbass and the fighting in general

Why is the US supporting NAZIS?

Possibly still trying to protect it's biolabs that it tried for many months denying their existance

Russia, Iran growing trade

The two nations agree to set up a joint venture that will be in charge of shipbuilding and procurement operations

Russia and Iran have agreed to jointly build 20 cargo vessels as trade between the two continues to grow, Iranian media reported on Thursday.

ISNA news agency confirmed that the two nations agreed to set up a joint venture that will be in charge of shipbuilding and procurement operations.

The pact was signed in the presence of a Russian presidential envoy.

The announcement comes a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, discussed ways of bolstering trade and economic cooperation between their two countries.

The joint venture will operate on a maritime route that connects St. Petersburg in western Russia to the port of Mumbai on India's west coast.

The 4,500-mile-long route will run through Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

Iran, Russia also signed a $1.6bln agreement to build Rasht-Astara railway

On Wednesday, Russia and Iran also signed an agreement worth $1.6 billion to build the Rasht-Astara railway, a project in northern Iran that will be key to the transit of cargo through the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash and Russia’s Minister of Transport Vitaly Saveliev signed the agreement in Tehran in a ceremony that was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended via a video conference link.

According to the state-run Iranian news agency IRNA, the 162-kilometer railway will connect the Iranian city of Rasht near the Caspian Sea to Astara on the border with Azerbaijan.

The agency explained that once completed, the Rasht-Astara railway will allow rail freight transport from the Gulf to Helsinki in Finland via Russia's Saint Petersburg.

Raisi described the agreement as "a major and strategic development" in cooperation between Iran and Russia.

The Iranian President thanked his Russian counterpart for supporting the project, pointing out that the completion of the INSTC would benefit not only the two nations but also all countries in the region.

On his part, Putin said the launch of the Rasht-Astara railway in Iran will allow diversifying global traffic flows, adding that such transportation will have competitive advantages.

The Russian President expressed Moscow's hope that the agreement between Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan on cooperation in the development of railway and cargo transportation will be signed promptly.

He indicated that the INSTC corridor will play a major role in guaranteeing food security in Iran and countries in the Gulf region.

Putin highlighted that Russian-Iranian relations are at their highest level, emphasizing that Moscow pays special attention to ties with Tehran.

Elsewhere, the Russian President thanked Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei for his support for the growing ties between the two countries.

Countries urging Zelensky for peace

The investigative journalist Hersh, cites information reported in secret by members of the US intelligence community

Pulitzer Prize-winning US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh revealed that Eastern European allies, spearheaded by Poland, are secretly urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the Ukraine conflict, even by resigning himself, which the Ukrainian leader is refusing to do.

"This group is led by Poland, whose leadership no longer fears the Russian army because its performance in Ukraine has left the glow of its success at Stalingrad during the Second World War in tatters. It has been quietly urging Zelensky to find a way to end the war — even by resigning himself, if necessary — and to allow the process of rebuilding his nation to get under way," Hersh wrote on his Substack page.

The investigative journalist cited information reported in secret by members of the US intelligence community, with Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia listed among other members of the group.

"Zelensky is not budging, according to intercepts and other data known inside the Central Intelligence Agency, but he is beginning to lose the private support of his neighbors," Hersh pointed out.

It is noteworthy that Hersh has previously published information on the suspected involvement of the United States in the attack on the Nordstream pipelines.

In early February, he said US Navy divers planted explosives to destroy the Nord Stream pipelines last year.

This led Facebook to deliberately decide to prevent people from sharing Hersh's report on the suspected US involvement, according to a report by Responsible Statecraft.

G7 Summit Opens in Hiroshima

On Friday, amid waves of protests, the Group of Seven (G7) leaders' annual summit got underway in Japan's western city of Hiroshima

Hundreds of protesters gathered in Hiroshima's Funairi Daiichi Park, not far from the summit's venue, to decry the finger-pointing bloc that advertises its own version of world order.

Seen on-site were huge banners and placards that read "Junk G7," "No Build-up to War" and "No to Japan-U.S. Military Alliance," among many others.

Crowds of protesters rallied around the summit venue, chanting slogans such as "U.S. Imperialists, Number One Terrorist!" "Stop the Lies!" "Stop the War!" "Stop QUAD Alliance!" and "Stop NATO Alliance!"

Among the demonstrators was Cody Urban, a member of a U.S. anti-war civic group, said that the U.S.-led G7 summit is "a cabal of the rich nations" that create tensions.

"It's important for us as Americans to come here and say that our people are not on the same page with the U.S. government," said the 32-year-old who traveled all the way from his hometown in the U.S. state of Oregon.

"We are united against the agenda of the G7, as its agenda is for the rich governments. It's not an agenda for peace and stability," he said.

Protests and rallies have been held at multiple locations in Hiroshima and other Japanese cities, as people from both home and abroad took to the streets to oppose the gathering.

This year, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who holds the G7's rotating presidency, has chosen to host the G7 gathering in Hiroshima.

On Friday morning, he took the G7 leaders and their spouses to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where they laid wreaths at the cenotaph and planted trees in the drizzling rain.

Many among the Japanese public, however, have scolded Kishida for seeking his own political interests in the name of the city once devastated by a U.S. atomic bombing during World War II.

The G7 consists of the United States, Britain, Italy, France, Germany, Canada and Japan. Leaders from South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Comoros, Cook Islands and some international organizations, were also invited to the summit.

Major issues including the Ukraine crisis, global economic outlook and climate change are expected to be touched upon during the three-day gathering, though expectations for achieving tangible results remain low.

Delighted to announce:
Bakhmut now under control of Donbass

Now the city is under the control of Donetsk Popular Republic, where it belongs, and free from the illegal Ukrainian NAZI invaders

The commander of the Wagner Private Military Company reports that Bakhmut has fallen into the hands of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian Armed Forces have gained full control over the city of Bakhmut, also known as Artyomvsk, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner Group private military company said Saturday.

Prigozhin announced the affair in a video in which he appeared in combat fatigues in front of a line of fighters sporting Russian flags and Wagner banners.

"Today, at 12 noon, Bakhmut was completely retaken," Prigozhin proclaimed. "We completely took the whole city, from house to house."

Ukraine is yet to make a comment on the matter.

Bakhmut, situated north of Donetsk, holds strategic significance for the course of the war. The city had long been the transportation route of food and supplies for the Ukrainian troops stationed in Donbass.

Remember the Ukrainian attacks on the Donbass are against the Minsk agreement and therefore against international law

UK PM opposes ceasefire

On Monday, UK prime minister Rishi Sunak said that he opposes any peace initiative for a ceasefire in Ukraine that does not entail a complete Russian withdrawal

Last week, the Russian and Ukrainian Presidents agreed to meet with a delegation of African leaders to discuss a possible peace deal to the Ukrainian crisis, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have both agreed to receive the African delegation in Moscow and Kiev respectively, according to the statement. While the leaders of Senegal, Uganda, Egypt, the Republic of Congo, and Zambia have joined in on the African mission.
