Inmate who left prison in Rolls-Royce revealed as rapper Snap Capone

A prisoner who was given a hero's welcome by an entourage of friends and whisked away in a Rolls-Royce when he was released has been revealed as drill rapper Snap Capone.

This is what many black youths aspire to - a vile piece of scum

The musician walked free in a grey tracksuit ensemble holding a clear bag of his possessions at Standford Hill Prison on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, grinning as his friends slapped him on the back and embraced him.

Capone, whose titles include Nothing Personal, The Memoir, Return of the Shooter and The Purge, has performed on BBC Radio 1's Fire in the Booth - which earned 1.5million views.

The rapper, who boasts thousands of Twitter followers, was seen outside prison exchanging high-fives, and Capone posed in front of a camera-phone before hopping into the backseat of the exclusive Rolls Royce.

Treated as a returning hero - was he in for drugs or violence?

One of Capone's tracks, Seen It All, features the lyrics:

'I started with shanks then I moved up to sticks.

'Started with Zs and I moved up to bricks mother f***er.'

He later adds: 'Devil on my shoulder, proud of my killings.

'Killing n***** part of my religion.

'I be in the villa in Venice.

'With some OGs that love Guinness.'
Another song, titled Wanted, begins with a clip of Robert De Niro as Al Capone in The Untouchables saying 'I want that son of a b**** dead, I want him dead'!

The beat drops and Capone starts rapping, opening with the lyrics: 'I want that n**** dead, ain't no talking please.'

Once comfortable in the back seat of the Rolls Royce Phantom, he wound down the window, poked his head out and smiled while his friends took yet more snaps of the jubilant jailbird

Some of Capone's lyrics include:

'When you're dead you're dead it ain't reversible. Clean headshot I did it surgical'

He later continues: 'When you're dead you're dead it ain't reversible.

'Clean headshot I did it surgical.'
Capone started his career as a member of S.I (Shoot Instant), a set of the Peckham Boys gang, according to music website Genius.

To the backdrop of the jail Category D prison, the group laughed and took pictures with the former inmate under blue skies yesterday.

The recent inmate appeared to be lapping up his luxurious exit from the prison as he was seen beaming to cameras

The Rolls Royce pulled up right outside the entrance of Standford Hill Prison on Friday

Certainly shows black youths that crime really does pay

He then stepped into the white Rolls Royce Phantom - which retails for an eye-watering £360,000.

Once in the back seat, he wound down the window, poked his head out and smiled while his friends took yet more pictures.

Capone's song Gangster's Tale, from the album The Memoir, includes the lyrics:

'Shank by my pelvis I'm a health risk, boss of my wing ask my workers and servants.

'Beef? Then a homemade shank gets inserted.

'S so certified. Had to dodge the 35, stuck in this dirty life.

'Bread in the toaster, can't find no butter knife, uh.'

Snap Capone

Snap Capone is one of the UK's most respected rappers and for good reason - starting out as a teenager and gaining acknowledgment in '09/'10 releasing freestyles and mixtapes as part of the S.I group, they became a pretty instant underground hit.

In 2013, his debut mixtape Return Of The Shooter was released and ever since he's dropped enough projects to firmly secure his position as one of the hardest UK rappers around.

We saw the release of the visuals for 'The Rain' featuring Dex Man taken from his January 2016 mixtape The Gift & The Curse. The video doesn't have Snap in due to him being incarcerated but shows another individual playing him.

The two rappers take the introspective route lyrically over a soulful, hip-hop beat. Shot on a block, Dex Man raps, "had a bit of hunger, I started getting paid," taking us through a snapshot of his life.

Snap's verse starts off about his adult lifestyle, "playing in the rain rose gold chain," and then goes back to his childhood, "I remember playing knock down ginger in them hallways," in this lyrically hard tune.

The UK teens sent to Africa
to escape knife crime

"In Kenya, you don't have to look over your shoulder"

Hundreds of British teenagers are being sent by their parents to East Africa to avoid knife crime in the UK, representatives of the Somali community say. Why are they taking this drastic choice?

Some names have been changed to protect the identity of the interviewees.

"In those few years I was doing my A-levels it was tough. Just seeing people being dropped every other day, being stabbed," Yusuf tells the Victoria Derbyshire programme from his new home in Kenya.

"London's not the place to be for a teenager."

Yusuf was born and raised in London but moved to Nairobi after a close friend in his neighbourhood was stabbed to death.

It is a decision an increasing number of parents are taking, for their children's safety.

Of the 100 people stabbed to death in the UK so far this year, 8% were of Somali heritage, according to the Rise Projects which works with young British Somalis in north London.

Jamal Hassan mentors young men in London, many from Somali families. He explains parents "want to protect that child by all means necessary".

"If it means that child doesn't finish school, college, university or he will not have a good job by the time you come for them the future is not really important.

"What's important is that child's life."

One mother who had sent her child to Africa told him she could now sleep at night, because she knew any police sirens she heard were not for her son.

'Sense of freedom'

Jamal says he felt a sense of freedom when he moved to Kenya

Jamal went to Kenya as a teenager, when he says problems for him in London "were at their peak".

He says there are parallels with the present day.

"One of the things I'll never forget, is the fact that when you walk in the streets in Kenya you don't have to look over your shoulder.

"Here I could travel in and out of the city, go and visit whoever I wanted, and it was good. I felt a sense of freedom.

"But for these kids [in London that can be] life and death."

'Permanent damage'

Others, such as Abdul, who is in his early 20s, left London because they had started to get into trouble with the police.

"When I came here it was like a clean sheet," Abdul said.

"No-one knew me, no-one knows my history. There [in London], you have people that look like you going after you.

"My mum feels I'm much safer here than anywhere else in the world."

Parents say they do not view the move as a long-term solution - some children stay in Africa while others return.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advises against all travel to Somalia, including Somaliland, and highlights a heightened threat of terrorism and kidnappings, across Kenya.

But Amina sent her 15-year-old son to Somaliland, when she was worried about the new friends with whom he was mixing.

In his year there, she says he became a studious child again.

He had even wanted to stay in East Africa.

But within 17 days of being brought back to the UK in November 2018, he was stabbed four times.

"He's been completely traumatised by the experience," she says.

"They damaged his bladder, his kidneys, his liver. He's got permanent damage.

"He was safer there [in Somaliland] than he was here… 100% more safe than in London."

'Desperate parents'

Rakhia Ismail says she knows parents who will leave the UK once their children finish primary school

The new mayor for Islington, Rakhia Ismail - a mother of four who came to London from Somalia as a refugee - believes that some areas of the city are unsafe for young people.

"Does the parent wait for her child to be killed? Or does the parent take a decision - quite a drastic decision - to take him all the way back to wherever that child is from originally?"

She says she knows families who are waiting for their children to finish primary school so they can leave the UK.

She estimates that out of every five Somalian families, two are taking their children back home.

Dr Fatumo Abdi - a mother of Somali origin - said parents were struggling to know how to react to knife crime.

"This is not something they've encountered before. But we know living here in Britain, the context is Britain. This is a British problem and it's a problem that we've fallen into.

"It's not the answer but these are desperate parents."

She believes poverty, inequality and exposure to violence are big factors as to why young people fall into criminality.

"Our communities are living in very poor disadvantaged areas with poor educational attainment. All these things affect how our children move through the world."

'Better person'

Rhoda Ibrahim, who runs the Somali Advice and Forum of Information, which supports Somali mothers, says that as many of them have poor English, they are forced to take jobs such as cleaning, which lead them to being away from their families for long periods of time.

"When you get sent back to your country by your parents, it's the worst feeling," says Mohamed, who lived in Kenya for six and then nine months.

He was sent there after being excluded and sent to a pupil referral unit when no other school in his area would accept him.

"It feels like you're going to prison, and your mum's the judge. You can't come back until the judge has let you free.

"You have to show that you're good, you've changed."

But he feels like it has made him a "better person".

"I could have been out on the streets right now selling drugs, but... the kids in Kenya put school first."

Two thirds of knife-point
robberies unsolved each year

Two thirds of knife-point robberies in England and Wales go unsolved each year and thousands of investigations end with no suspect being identified, figures have revealed

About three in 10 incidents of violence involving a knife have also gone unsolved, as have around one in six of possession of a bladed weapon, the same data showed

The numbers were obtained from police forces in England and Wales under the Freedom of Information Act. A request was made for the total number of knife-related crimes recorded and the outcomes of the investigations, in 2017, 2018 and this year up to March.

Data was released from 22 forces on crimes of: robbery involving a bladed weapon, violence against a person, possession of an offensive weapon where that was a bladed article; and possession of a bladed article.

A total of 12,783 robberies involving a knife or bladed weapon were recorded in 2017; 15,588 in 2018, and 3,540 up to March 2019.

Of these, in 2017 a total of 8,837 ended with no suspect identified – 69 per cent of the total recorded. Of those 7,319 ended with no suspect identified and the case was closed and in 1,518 cases the victim declined or was unable to support action to identify an offender.

For 2018, a total of 10,456 ended with no suspect identified, 67 per cent of the total. Of these 8,800 ended with no suspect identified and in 1,656 case the victim did not support action to identify an offender.

For the first part of this year up to early March, 1,739 investigations ended with no suspect identified – 49 per cent of the total recorded.

Che Donald, national vice-chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, said: "While the number of unsolved knifepoint robberies and other knife crimes appears to be slightly decreasing year on year, according to the Press Association figures, there is no denying that the numbers are uncomfortably high.

"Combined with an 8 per cent overall increase in knife crime across England and Wales, what is blatantly apparent is that our over-stretched and under-funded police forces are battling an explosion in violent crime which shows no sign of abating."

He said that while there were nearly 5,000 hospital admissions due to knife violence in England last year and knife crime is at its highest since 2011, budget cuts mean there are nearly 20,000 fewer police officers than in 2010. There is also a national shortage of detectives.

Mr Donald added: "Our detective ranks have been decimated, with huge gaps in investigation teams across all 43 forces. This means that following up crime reports becomes increasingly difficult, particularly in complex drawn-out investigations.

"Some vulnerable victims of crime need to be dealt with appropriately by specially-trained officers in order for cases to proceed and eventually succeed in court. If we don't have enough specialists to do that, more offenders will then slip through the net."

He said police must be properly resourced to tackle the rising tide of violence.

Patrick Green, chief executive of anti-knife crime charity the Ben Kinsella Trust, said: "It is deplorable that nearly two third of criminals who use knives to commit robberies are not put in front of the courts.

"While it is clear that the police are doing all they can to tackle this increasing problem with the resources they have available, more needs to be done.

"It is vital that the police get the support and funding they require to take knives and those who carry them off our streets.

"But the police can't do this on their own.

"It is equally important that we do far more to tackle this menace much earlier by resourcing programmes that stop knife carrying becoming a way of life.

"Early intervention and prevention programmes are a proven way to change young people's mindsets and ensure that they take positive pathways in life.

"Turning them away from crime and deterring from ever carrying a knife."

Tower Hamlets stab victim knifed to
death after breaking up argument

Two die in weekend of bloodshed on London's streets

Two young men were stabbed to death on a weekend of bloodshed which took the total number of people murdered on the streets of London this year above 50.

Another man is fighting for life in hospital after being attacked by a hammer wielding mob trying to steal his moped from a car park in Battersea.

In the first fatal attack of the weekend Alimuz Zaman, known as Alom, was chased and stabbed up to seven times with a “Rambo knife” in Mile End.

He was ambushed as he went to buy food to break fast with his family, who said he had broken up an argument between two groups of men earlier in the day.

The 23-year-old collapsed in a pool of blood outside a children’s play centre in St Paul’s Way at about 4.30pm on Sunday. Medics battled to save him but he died in hospital.

Another man, 25, was stabbed as he rushed to Mr Zaman’s aid. He remains in hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

A witness said: “I saw him being chased by two teenagers. They stabbed him with what looked like a Rambo-style knife and he then came back to the shops. He fell on the floor and tried to get up but fell again.”

Mr Zaman’s brother, Kom, said the killing happened hours after his younger sibling had intervened in an argument on the Burdett Estate.

He told the Standard: “There were two groups of people who had an argument and my brother knew them both, so he met with them to mediate. He thought he resolved it, but we heard later they didn’t like my brother’s tone.

“Later on he went to get sweets with our five-year-old niece. When he got home, my sister said, ‘you forgot the coriander’, so he went back out to get some and two boys came and stabbed him.”

Mr Zaman was stabbed 200 yards from his home while buying the food as his family prepared to break fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

His death marks the 50th murder investigation launched in the capital so far this year and the 31st fatal stabbing in London in 2019.

His brother added: “We’re angry because he’s young and the fact that he died over something so petty.”

Mr Zaman worked as his mother’s carer and aspired to help his brother Kom on his mattress business, Comfasleep.

Then in the early hours of today, a man in his 30s died of knife wounds after a fight involving men and women in the street in Forest Gate.

Officers called to Warwick Road at 1.15am found the injured man. He was taken to hospital but died later. They are appealing for witnesses.

The 46-year-old victim of the attack in Battersea was set upon by youths on bicycles in a “cowardly” attack in a Tesco car park at about 4.30pm on Saturday. One witness said: “Those boys ganged up on a man and hit him over the head with a hammer, just because he was trying to protect his scooter.

“He wouldn’t let them take his bike, he put up a fight and I guess they didn’t like that.”

A 16-year-old boy was arrested near the scene on suspicion of GBH and has been bailed until a date in early June.

Murder hunt after man knifed in ‘mobile phone robbery’ dies

Detectives are hunting a knifeman after a businessman stabbed in a suspected street robbery at the weekend lost his fight for life in hospital

The 33-year-old victim, named by his family as Barış Küçük, was stabbed in the leg in Haringey by a thug apparently trying to steal his mobile phone.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Seven Sisters Road shortly after 3am on Saturday. Mr Küçük was taken to a north London hospital but died yesterday.

His killing takes the number of murder investigations opened by the Met this year to 53 and he is at least the 30th person to have been stabbed to death.

Mr Küçük had worked a shift in his family’s coffee shop before the attack.

His sister Hatice, 37, said police had told the family his bag had been emptied and his phone was missing. She told the Evening Standard: “It was just a normal evening. He had worked in the coffee shop, went to the gym and had a shower. He went out as usual but he never came back.

“We will not stop until we get justice. My brother was a good, kind man. He was loving and caring and always laughing and warm.

“He would have stood up for himself, he wouldn’t have just given up his phone but he never would have tackled someone if he knew they had a knife.”

She said her brother loved football and was a Manchester United fan, as well as being a talented artist and businessman. The family are originally Kurdish and Mr Küçük moved to London with his sisters in 1992.

Hatice said: “He was about to take over the family coffee shop. He had big ideas and was going to change things. He never got a chance to do it, it’s heartbreaking.”

She said another of their sisters worked with parent mentoring groups, including an organisation that had been given funds to try to steer young people away from knife crime.

She added: “It’s bizarre, my sister is going to work on this project and our brother is killed. You never think it is going to happen to you.”

Residents living near the scene of the attack told how they heard a man screaming for help in the early hours of the morning.

One said: “Around 2.50am I heard a man’s voice shouting really loudly. The ambulance and the police cars came and I went outside and I saw the man on the corner, the ambulance were giving him CPR.

“The police and ambulance were around him — about six to seven people. They then took him away.”

Pack of 30 schoolchildren attack adults outside London pub

Children were punching customers and spraying them with liquid outside Wetherspoons' Milan Bar, in Croydon

The group of schoolchildren, who appear to be aged around 14, are also seen picking up and throwing tables and chairs.

The short clip was filmed outside the venue and uploaded to Facebook last night captioned: 'What's wrong with the kids of South London?'

A Wetherspoons spokesman said the 'despicable' mayhem started after a man who had been engaged in an argument with the children sought refuge in the pub's smoking area.

After chasing the man, they picked up chairs and tables and customers who tried to escape were doused with liquid. Some of them also appeared to throw punches.

Michael Malcolmson was among those to comment on the clip, writing: 'Their parents must be proud of them - absolutely disgraceful behaviour.'

Mary Higgins compared the behaviour of the youths with those who fought on D Day, writing; 'And 75 years today young men fought for our freedom and lost their lives.

'And look at our teenagers today no respect whatsoever disgrace.'

Joanne McBride said: 'An SAS Bootcamp would sort them out. Disgraceful behaviour.'

Martin Champion said: 'This is what happens when you take away anyone's right to hit kids, they do what they like. I'm not saying you can give them a pasting - they are kids -but a kick up the ass wouldn't go amiss.

'No matter what kids do there is no consequence, you shout but they don't care, it's just words. If a flame told you 'I am hot' you would still put your hand in and get hurt.

'We learn by getting hurt - it's human nature.'

A Wetherspoons spokesman said: 'As we understand it, an incident had started away from the pub between a man and around 30 schoolchildren.

'The incident moved down the street towards our pub.

A man stands and shouts at the children as one of them, with her hair in bunches, is pulled away by a friend

'The man sought refuge in our outside smoking area and customers have tried to assist him.

'The schoolchildren moved into the area and pushed the man back toward the window and they started picking up tables and chairs and hitting the man.

'This was a despicable incident and we will assist in any way we can with their [police's] enquiries.'

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'Police were called at 17:19hrs on Wednesday, 5 June to reports of a group of youths fighting in High Street, Croydon.

'Officers attended and the group made-off in different directions.

'Following a short foot chase two males, aged 14 and 13, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

'They were taken to a south London police station and were subsequently bailed to return on dates in mid-June.

'An area search was conducted for victims but nobody made themselves known to officers,' they added.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting 6146/05JUN or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Horrifying moment rival gang members fight with knives just yards from terrified parents who were picking their children up from school

A stunned father picking up his child from school filmed the terrifying knife fight

The footage showed four rival gang members brawling in the street with knives

Two men jumped out of car to attack the other two thugs with knives in the street
This is the terrifying moment four rival thugs brawled with knives in front of horrified parents who were picking up their children from school.

The shocking footage shows the gang members attacking each other with knives in Thornton Heath in Croydon, south London at around 4.20pm on Friday.

Two men parked up in a Peugeot before jumping out to attack the other two thugs with their weapons.

A stunned father filmed the fight from his car, with police later saying that a 17-year-old was flown to hospital and treated for stab wounds.

A witness said that the terrifying brawl started when two thugs on a moped and attacked a Peugeot with their knives.

The Peugeot then parks up and the driver and a passenger leap out.

The driver chases after one man, armed with a large kitchen knife, while the passenger and his target run out of shot.

A witness told the Sun: 'The guy on the moped stopped in front of me and just started attacking the car.

'He smashed the window and tried to stab the guy multiple times before driving off.

'I could hear them saying ''bore him up'' — which is street slang for stabbing.

Three of them had knives but one of the guys on the moped had a flick knife. He dropped it because he was stabbing so ferociously with it. It looked like it hit bone.

'The driver of the car had a massive kitchen knife. It's just horrible.'

Police said a 17-year-old was flown to hospital where he was treated for stab wounds.

No arrests have yet been made.

They added that a Section 60 was in place in the area after the stabbing and that the condition of the teenager is not life threatening.

Mother stabbed in street after
refusing to give phone to mugger

A husband today told how his wife narrowly escaped with her life after being stabbed in the leg when she refused to hand her mobile phone to a mugger

Nursery worker Christel Stainfield-Bruce, 36, a mother-of-three, was walking home on Friday afternoon when she was knifed in the "unprovoked" attack in Islington, north London.

She was stabbed in the thigh after being confronted by a youth who she said looked to be in his early teens.

The youth approached Mrs Stainfield-Bruce, asking for directions as she pushed her sleeping son in a pram.

The attacker then asked for her phone. She refused, and he stabbed her in the thigh.

Mrs Stainfield-Bruce was rushed to a trauma unit and treated on Friday night and was later discharged.

As she recovered at home, Mrs Stainfield-Bruce said: "I think I’m still in quite a lot of shock and I’m waking up for the first time worried about leaving the house."

"I would like to see him caught and I would like to see him punished, but I want to see some rehabilitation for him.

"I want to know what made him do this."

Her husband Quinn said knife crime in London had reached "crisis point" and that doctors told them she was lucky the knife did not hit an artery.

He said: "It could have been a murder.

"She was stabbed in the back of her left thigh. An ambulance was called and she was taken to a trauma unit and we were told by doctors it didn't hit any major arteries.

"If mothers with their children are being stabbed in broad daylight, then what the hell is going on?

"This is crisis point for me, it can’t get much worse than this.

"She turned away and he didn’t even take anything, he didn’t take her phone or her purse but just stabbed her in the back of her left thigh."

Police said they were called at 4.56pm on Friday to reports of a stabbing.

They are seeking a suspect described as being between 14 and 16 years old who fled towards the Tollington and Holloway road area.

No arrests have been made.

The suspect is described as black male, 5ft 3ins, of large build and was wearing dark coloured clothing, including a jacket and a ‘trucker’ style cap at the time of the attack.

137 children aged 10 and 11 found
with knives in London schools

More than 130 children aged 10 and 11 have been caught with knives or used them to commit violence in London schools in the past four years, the Standard can reveal

Fourteen of the 137 were girls found with weapons on primary or secondary school premises, in new evidence of the capital’s knife crime epidemic.

Between January 2015 and April this year, 26 boys and three girls aged 10 were suspects in “weapon-based” crimes. A further 97 boys and 11 girls aged 11 were identified as offenders over the same period, according to Scotland Yard figures released under a Freedom of Information request.

In total, there were 1,562 suspects aged 10 to 16, with offending peaking at 14 for boys and girls

Met data shows 1,576 crimes involving weapons at schools in the capital, ranging from possession of a knife to wounding. Thirteen involved possessing a firearm and there was one allegation of attempted murder.

The vast majority of suspects were aged under 17.

Police charged 208 with offences including attempted murder, possessing weapons and firearms and wounding. Chris Keates, general secretary of the NASUWT union, warned that the statistics showed schools must adopt a “zero tolerance” approach to blades. She said: “Pupils and staff must be protected from weapons being brought into schools. Schools should send out strong messages to pupils and the community that they operate a zero-tolerance approach to this and will report all incidents to the police.

“It must be remembered that tackling the problems of violence and knife crime cannot be left to schools alone, they are issues which have their roots in wider society.”

Scotland Yard chief Cressida Dick has said knife crime fuelled by drugs is at its worst level in her 35-year career.

To highlight the problem, police released images of blades seized from children under 16 in just two months. Last year 135 people were murdered or unlawfully killed in London — the highest total since 2008. So far in 2019, there have been more than 50 killings.

Theresa May and Home Secretary Sajid Javid faced a backlash in April over plans to make schools, hospitals and police forces accountable for preventing and tackling violence. Under the proposals, they would be required by law to report children feared to have been caught up in violence.

Scotland Yard said: “We are working hard to tackle crime in schools. Our Safer Schools Officers work with schools to build good relationships between the police, children, staff and parents.” The Met said schools are offered knife arches to deter blade- carrying, and over the past 18 months City Hall has funded 300 knife wands.

Pupils concerned about knife crime who feel unable to speak to police can give information to Crimestoppers’ anonymous website, fearless.org.

Anti-knife crime campaigner Dr Mark Prince set up the Kiyan Prince Foundation after his 15-year-old son, a talented footballer with QPR’s youth academy, was murdered outside his school in Edgware in May 2006.

Mr Prince OBE said: “These figures will be shocking to a lot of people. But the education system we currently have creates more criminality. Behind every statistic is a young person’s life. Many caught with knives will be expelled, then sent to pupil referral units where they are groomed by gang members. After that, the road leads straight to Feltham young offenders institution. These youngsters need leadership.”

Demonstrators march behind a huge banner that read “Drop the knife, save a life, Don’t let others like Barış die”.

Representatives of several institutions also joined the march, including councillors and council officials and mother of Kaan Aslan, who had died before in another knife attack.

A sit-in at the scene where Barış was killed, was followed by a press statement, read by Kurdish Popular Council co-president Nejla Ari, which highlighted the “responsibility of the government policies in the increasing loss of security on the streets of London”.

Haringey Municipality Leader Joe Ejiofor also spoke and called on the government to take satisfactory steps to counter the "increasing crimes caused by the policies”.

Speaking after, mother of 20-year-old Kaan Aslan, who lost his life as result of a knife attack last year, stated that the six persons involved in the murder of her son were walking around freely.

MURDERER ARRESTED

In the meantime, Adam Tarik has been charged with the murder of Küçük. The 24-year-old murderer will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in the coming days.

33 years old Barış Küçük was seriously injured after he was stabbed in the leg in the early hours of 1 June in Seven Sisters Road, Haringey. He was taken under treatment at hospital where he lost his life on 3 June.

Manchester stabbing terror suspect 'had manual on lethal knife moves'

A terror suspect who is accused of attempted murder after a brutal stabbing in Manchester on New Year's Eve had a manual of "lethal ways to strike with a knife", a court heard

Mahdi Mohamud, 25, was arrested after a couple in their 50s were stabbed several times at the city's Victoria railway station at around 9pm on December 31.

Mr Mohamud appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with three counts of attempted murder.

He was also charged with a further offence alleging possession of a "document or record likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism".

The court was told the terror charge was linked to a document entitled "the seven most lethal ways to strike with a knife".

Anna Charlton and James Knox were stabbed as they entered the Metrolink area of the station.

Mr Knox suffered 13 injuries including a skull fracture, the court heard.

Ms Charlton's right lung was punctured and she suffered a forehead injury, the court was also told.

British Transport Police Sergeant Lee Valentine was also stabbed in the shoulder as he responded to the incident.

He was wearing five layers of clothing which prevented a serious injury.

Sgt Valentine and three other BTP officers were the first on the scene before pepper spray and Tasers were used to detain the suspect.

Mohamud, of Cheetham Hill, Manchester, appeared by video link and spoke to confirm his name, address, date of birth and Dutch nationality.

His solicitor, Nasir Hafezi, told the court no pleas would be indicated.

Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot remanded Mohamud in custody ahead of a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on June 21.
