Maybe lots of ppl will suggest you this books but i am suggesting this books too... :)
1-Honore de Balzac ( Honore Balzac ) - Les Paysans ( The Peasants ) (Maybe it is too one sided and politic too but it shows Balzac's great perspective and reality.): It's explaining the worst effects of human rights and new laws after 1789 French Revolution and a noble general's fall by his old servant(he became burgeois) with citizens' help.But they say this events happened in Ukranie not in France.Very different World Classic but when you read the book i am sure you will see a few bad ppl you know in your life.It is so realistic.
2- John Steinbeck - The Grapes of Wrath: This is not a communist book bu it is really explaining farmers' problem who live in "America".As "The peasants" are not a feodalist book this is not a communist book just new ideas.Anyway this book starts with a man's journey who nearly go out jail and paid his punishment.After this man's a few detailed problems it is becoming a real public problem.And it is realistic too,not so pretentious like "The Peasants" but much more sad story.This is a story of lots of ppl who is crushed by very big companies and lefting their lands.The writer won "nobel prize".
Here are a few books which i love and i suggest of course there is lots of books it is worth to read but my special suggest you to read is Dear Adolf Hitler-Mein Kampf :twisted: :lol: :lol: :lol: (No Way,it is just a joke)
Nowadays;
Thorvald Steen-Kamelskyer:This is a historical novel which is about Salahaddin.It is a short story but it is clearly realististic and it is not close to one side much so i hope lots of ppl will read and like it(A real Salahaddin story).Generally,i like Scandinavia ppl because they are so democratic and they don't have crazy ideas about every topics.They are cool ppl.I read and i absolutely recommend you this book.And Thorvald Steen is friend of Mehmet Uzun.
Read and enjoy my friends,this books are very beautiful

These are some good books I suggest reading:

1. The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley

2. Warriors of God by James Reston, Jr.

3. Orientalism by Edward W. Said (still need to finish this one)

I don't like romans too much. Especially historical novels/romans are very bad.. they distort history and tell lies. .. don't think it's realistic.. it only LOOKS that way.

Read a real history book then.

One of my fav's is George Orwell 9/11.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Yes ! It's a great film... but if you read the book, you will think the film is horrible... There was so much more to Malcolm than that movie :roll:

Yes. About Salahadin. Well, the book is somewhat written like a story because it tells the history of Salahadin and Richard the Lionheart in parts so it is far from boring...

...you can also try My Father's Rifle : A Childhood in Kurdistan (I haven't read it yet but I heard it's really good). It's written by Hiner Saleem--->the same guy who produced that new Kurdish movie, 'Kilometer Zero'.
