97% early voter turnout in elections

Ninety-seven percent of eligible voters cast a ballot during early voting in Kurdistan Region’s parliamentary elections on Friday, with Duhok province recording the highest turnout, according to data released by the electoral commission

Of 215,560 security force members eligible to vote in the early polls, 208,521 cast a ballot

The breakdown of the turnout is as follows:

Duhok: 98 percent

Erbil: 97 percent

Sulaimani: 97 percent

Halabja: 96 percent

Nineveh: 43 percent

Kirkuk: 56 percent

Diyala: 62 percent

Anbar: 8 percent

Baghdad-Karkh: 79 percent

Wasit: 4 percent

Salahaddin: 54 percent

Baghdad-Rusafa: 60 percent

KDP's Hemin Hawrami thanks security forces

A total of 215,960 eligible voters participated in the special elections, with votes cast at 165 polling stations across the Kurdistan Region

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Hemin Hawrami, Head of the Organizational Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), expressed his gratitude to the Peshmerga and security forces for their confidence in the KDP during a press conference on Saturday.

The special voting process involved members of the security forces, the Peshmerga, and others who cast their ballots ahead of the general vote.

A total of 215,960 eligible voters participated in the special elections, with votes cast at 165 polling stations across the Kurdistan Region, Hawrami reported. The KDP had 165 observers, and 749 agents deployed across all polling stations to monitor the process, ensuring transparency by transferring voting rights to the Election Bureau.

Of the 215,960 eligible voters, 179,326 valid votes were counted, while 21,131 votes were deemed invalid:

KDP: 86,775 votes

PUK: 50,776 votes

New Generation Movement: 11,778 votes

Kurdistan Islamic Union: 3,180 votes

People's Front (Berey Gel): 2,510 votes

Kurdistan Justice Group: 2,365 votes

National Stance Movement (Halwest): 2,448 votes

Gorran Movement: 585 votes

Hawrami called on the citizens of the Kurdistan Region to actively participate in the general election and cast their votes for the KDP, emphasizing the importance of protecting the region’s peace and prosperity.

Addressing concerns about electoral violations, Hawrami stated that the KDP would pursue legal action against any infractions. He underlined the transparency of the election process, noting that representatives from all political parties were present at polling stations.

However, he criticized the electoral commission for its inability to prevent violations at some polling stations in Halabja, urging the commission to take stricter measures to ensure the integrity of the voting process.

He also emphasized the KDP's commitment to having representatives present at all polling stations, with a digital system in place to transmit voting data to the election bureau. Furthermore, Hawrami advocated for manual vote counting to be conducted alongside electronic counting to ensure accurate results.

As the general election approaches, Hawrami’s message focused on maintaining a secure, fair, and transparent electoral process while encouraging strong voter turnout to safeguard the future of Kurdistan.

Voters feedback after voting at polling stations

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The general voting process for the sixth round of the Parliamentary general election started from 7:00 a.m. on Sunday (Kurdistan Region local time).

Two million 686 thousand 578 voters are eligible to vote over the four constituencies: Erbil, Duhok, Sulaimani and Halabja.

An elderly resident from Semel told Kurdistan 24 “I am very happy today, I woke up early in the morning to be the first to vote and arrived at the polling station before 07:00, but I saw people came before me, they were cleverer than me, we voted anyway and made our consciences comfortable.”

According to his belief all the people who have the right to vote in this general election, should do, and considers voting as national and worshiping in religion.

Another resident from Semel told Kurdistan 24 “this vote is important and decisive, if the voter does not participate today, others will decide the fate and govern the next four years instead, so it is very important for everyone to participate.”

At a polling station in Erbil, a voter talked to Kurdistan 24 correspondent “I came to this polling station from 06:30 a.m., thank God I voted for peace, prosperity, stability and resistance, gave my vote to the list 190 which is the Kurdistan Democratic Party.”

He added “we must be loyal to our martyrs and vote for the party that has fought and shed blood throughout history, so that we can live proudly,”

A voter from Zakho talked to Kurdistan 24 “the voting process is being conducted in a very orderly manner and I voted within a few minutes”

The 105-year-old mother of three martyrs arrived by ambulance to cast vote in Kurdistan Parliamentary Elections

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - In a remarkable display of civic duty, a 105-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to a polling station in Shaqlawa to participate in the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth cycle elections on Sunday.

A young man accompanying the elderly voter revealed, "Despite her poor health condition, this 105-year-old mother of three martyrs, who resides in Shaqlawa, was determined to cast her vote for the Kurdistan Democratic Party's list 190."
