Kurds gather against occupation attacks

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) announced that it will organize a workshop on May 15 to evaluate the large-scale invasion attacks launched by the Turkish state on the Metina, Zap and Avashin regions of South Kurdistan on April 24

The KNK Executive Council said that “These massive attacks target not only the HPG (People’s Defence Forces) but also all the gains of the Kurds and aims at the occupation of South Kurdistan as a whole. April 24 is the anniversary of the genocide against the Armenian people. It is no coincidence that the latest military operation was initiated on the anniversary of the genocide. The message it gives is a Kurdish genocide."

The KNK stated that they would bring together representatives of Kurdish parties, organizations and institutions as well as intellectuals, academics, writers, journalists, artists, religious representatives and other Kurdish communities in Kurdistan and abroad in order to shape a "national attitude" against the attacks and occupation.

The workshop will start via Zoom on May 15 at 10.00 European time and at 11.00 Kurdistan time. The workshop will continue until 20.30.

The KNK Executive Council called for participation in the online conference titled "Workshop on national attitude against Turkish state occupation".

AYDAR: THIS IS AN ATTACK OF ELIMINATION

Speaking to ANF about the workshop, KNK Executive Council Member Zübeyir Aydar said, "Our goal is to warn the Kurdistan and the world public opinion against these attacks of Turkey."

"It is an all-out genocide and annihilation attack," he added.

"The ruling clique in Turkey is an Enverist clique. It is no coincidence that the latest military operation was launched on the anniversary of the decision of the Committee of Union and Progress to subject Armenians, Assyrian-Syriacs and Greeks to genocide 106 years ago. It is a message of genocide," Aydar noted.

“They attack to destroy Kurdish gains. They aim to eliminate anything which is related to Kurdishness, ” he remarked.

Stating that the Turkish state built itself on the extermination of other peoples, Aydar pointed out that the Turkish state now wants to do the same thing by "exterminating the Kurds".

“TIME TO UNITE AGAINST THE ENEMY”

“We invited Kurds from all professions. Today is the time to unite against the enemy. It is time to stop its genocidal attacks. We can get results if we act together. We call on all the people of Kurdistan to take a stand against persecution. This is our goal,” Aydar said.

Calls for solidarity with Kurdish Freedom Movement

KCK Executive Council, calls on all the peoples of the world, all workers, women and oppressed communities to show their solidarity. He calls for a united struggle against the heavy Turkish attacks

The full text of the message is as follows:

"I respectfully greet all revolutionary-democratic forces of the peoples of the world all those who fight for women's freedom; all those who wage an ecological struggle against capitalist environmental destruction; and all socialist forces! Dear friends, dear comrades, the Turkish state has recently launched a heavy military attack on the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom.

The aim of this attack is to crush our struggle, which is based on our paradigm of women's freedom, ecology and democracy. By smashing our Freedom Movement, the aim is paving the way for a cultural genocide against the Kurdish people. In this way, the homeland of the Kurds is to be turned into a territory that would serve the expansion of Turkish nationalism.

Our struggle is not only a struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people. It is a struggle for the freedom of all peoples in Turkey and throughout the Middle East. The U.S., Europe and the other NATO member states are actively supporting the current attack by the Turkish state. They support it in order to be able to use the Turkish state for their own interests. These countries, which call themselves democratic, are thus supporting the most fascist government in the world.

Dear comrades, dear friends, this attack on the PKK aims at destroying the paradigm of women's liberation and the democratic-ecological society developed by Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. It aims at crushing our struggle which is based on this paradigm for a democratic-confederal system. If they manage to crush our movement, the struggle for democracy in the Middle East will come to an end.

This will pave the way for organizations like the Islamic State (ISIS) - enemies of religious and cultural diversity - to survive and bloom. And mentalities and political systems hostile to democracy and women will also be able to hold their ground. The current heavy attack on us is thus not only an attack on the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. It is at least as much an attack to suffocate the paradigm of women's freedom and the ecological society developed by Rêber Apo. This paradigm and the democratic-socialist line has turned into the hope of all peoples, workers and women today.

Therefore, this attack is not only an attack against the PKK and the Kurdish people. Rather, it is directed against all peoples of the world, all workers, all women and all those who are struggling for an ecological society. It is therefore imperative that all peoples, oppressed communities, revolutionary democratic forces, all those fighting for women's freedom and all those fighting against the ecological catastrophe caused by capitalism come together and wage a common struggle. The time has come to defend our common gains, which were achieved on the basis of women's freedom.

We therefore call upon all the peoples of the world, all workers, all women and all oppressed communities: Let us take a stance together against the attacks of the Turkish state and wage a common struggle against it! Long live our paradigm of women's freedom and the ecological-democratic society!"

Kurds should be united against occupation

The families of martyrs in Aleppo have responded to the invasion attacks of the Turkish state saying that KDP should take a stand against the invasion

The invading Turkish state has been carrying out invasion attacks against Medya Defense Zones since April 23. Families of guerrillas in Aleppo reacted to the invasion attacks and urged the Kurdish people to fulfill their responsibilities.

'WE SHOULD NOT BE SILENT’

Martyr Timav Cudi's mother, Mewlide Hibo said, “My son was martyred in this struggle. The guerrillas are our children. We must prevent the invasion of Kurdistan. We should pursue the path of martyrs. Silence destroys Kurdistan. Why does the KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) take no action against the Turkish state which bombs the mountains of Kurdistan and massacres the people there? The Turkish state is committing genocide. It now wants to do in South Kurdistan what it did in Afrin. The Kurdish people should realize their national unity as soon as possible.”

'THERE IS A HISTORIC RESISTANCE'

Speaking after, Martyr Kurdiman's brother, Cewdet Mihemed said, "We do not accept the KDP's attack on Medya Defense Zones together with the Turkish state. This does not serve the interest of the Kurdish people. Kurds should not fight each other. Every Kurd has a duty to protect her/his own land. The guerrillas mount historic resistance. The Turkish state is trying to carry out a massacre. As the families of martyrs, we stand by our fighters.”

‘KDP SHOULD MAKE A DECISION’

Martyr Mezlum's mother, Semira Umer said, “We protest the Turkish state's attacks on Avashin, Zap and Metina. The Turkish state wants to invade South Kurdistan and to massacre the Kurdish people. The Turkish state cuts trees and the KDP is just watching them. The KDP is paving the way for attacks against the guerrilla. The KDP should now make its decision. There should be no relations with the enemies of the Kurdish people.”

Historic resistance against occupation

The PKK Foreign Relations Committee has said that status, free and democratic life in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) cannot be achieved by remaining silent against the Turkish invasion, but by supporting those who resist it

The Foreign Relations Committee of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has released a written statement on the Turkish genocidal campaign seeking to invade South Kurdistan and the historic guerrilla resistance against invasion attempts.

The statement published by PKK Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday includes the following:

“The attacks carried out by the invading, fascist and genocidal Turkish state against the freedom guerrilla, people and lands of Kurdistan continue. Neither the Turkish Republic nor its collaborating forces do not even feel a need to cover up the genocidal attacks. The people, nature, language, culture and national unity of Kurdistan are targeted in the person of Kurdistan freedom guerrilla. Our guerrilla forces are fighting to protect the core values and national honour of our people with their self-sacrificing resistance.

Suffering a heavy defeat against the guerrilla resistance, the Turkish state cannot not carry out its occupation operations and has attacked the Maxmur refugee camp on 5 June 2021, which is under the supervision of the UN and Iraq. Although the Turkish state is responsible for this attack, the Iraqi state and the UN, which remained silent and even paved the way for the threats and invasion attacks of the fascist dictator Erdoğan, also bear responsibility for this attack.

Based on what laws do the drones and fighter jets of the fascist and genocidal Turkish state fly over a refugee camp that is under the control of the UN and the Iraqi state? On the basis of which international law is the airspace used for attacks targeting civilians? It is not possible for the Turkish state to use the airspace and carry out an attack without the consent of these forces. Turkey wants to indicate that they will target every Kurd who claims her/his language, culture and patriotic duties, even if they are civilians, and to suppress the resistance and struggle of our people.

The people of Maxmur have always promoted resistance and patriotism, from Botan to Maxmur, against the genocidal attacks of the Turkish state since 1993. Therefore, the recent attacks are a part of the genocide plan of the Turkish state and are doomed to failure. It is the responsibility of the UN, EU, Iraqi, Kurdistan local government and the KDP to stop the attacks against our people in Maxmur, which defy all international law and human values. We urge these forces, who have remained silent, approved and paved the way for these fascist and genocidal attacks, to perform their duties. Maxmur is Kurdistan's honour and a stronghold of resistance. We therefore strongly condemn this attack against our people in Maxmur.

REPORTS OF ATTACKS ON KDP FORCES ARE LIE

In the morning of June 5, 2021, the news that a group affiliated with the KDP's Zerevani group, which attempted to enter the guerrilla areas in Metina, was targeted by our guerrilla forces was deliberately disseminated to the public. The news that a peshmerga had been shot in the Derkare area on June 8, 2021, was attributed to the HPG forces by the KDP. These reports do not reflect the truth, they are fabricated for manipulation and aim at legitimizing the invasion of the Turkish state and avoiding the defeat of the Turkish state. We condemn all these fabricated and baseless news and statements targeting the guerrilla and our movement.

Although the HPG has announced to the public that it has nothing to do with both incidents, it is a very purposeful and planned smear campaign of the KDP and its press to blame honourable guerrilla forces for these incidents. The guerrilla forces have been resisting heroically and successfully against the fascist Turkish state for 46 days and the Turkish army is about to take a hammering. The KDP is spreading such fake news on purpose at a time when all the Kurds, especially our people of South Kurdistan, and the world public opinion take a serious stand against the invasion, plunder, theft and massacres of the fascist Turkish state.

Another remarkable point is that such fabricated reports were disseminated after the recent meetings of the fascist Turkish state with the KDP in Hewler. Our guerrilla forces are targeting the Turkish state which is planning and attempting to occupy South Kurdistan step by step and have been mounting historic national resistance for decades against these genocidal attacks. The opportunism and provocation of the forces, which are unable to take a stand and will to resist the Turkish invasion and are taking advantage of the revolutionary war position of the guerrilla who pays the price and resists Turkish campaign to occupy the areas used by the guerrilla for 25 years, is unacceptable. The KDP legitimizes the Turkish occupation by blocking the struggle of the people and political forces against the Turkish state. Furthermore, the KDP should withdraw its troops that it has deployed to both Metina and Berbizina areas.

South Kurdistan's status, free and democratic life cannot be achieved by remaining silent against the Turkish invasion, but by supporting those who resist it. The South Kurdistan Parliament is also charged with this task. The South Kurdistan Parliament should look at the current events basing on the sensitivity of Kurdish patriotism and call all parties to join a common resistance against the invasion of the Turkish state. We also call for any attempt to be avoided to ruin national unity and to promote the invaders in this war of honour and patriotism waged by the freedom guerrillas with a great self-sacrificing spirit.

Our guerrilla forces are fighting for a free and honourable life against the fascist invasion attacks. We invite all forces of Kurdistan and our people to take sides with the guerrilla and defeat the occupation together.”

Karayılan: On Turkey's ongoing invasion

The commander-in-chief of the central HPG headquarters, Murat Karayılan, has commented on Turkey's ongoing invasion of Southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) in a special broadcast on the Kurdish television station Stêrk TV

According to Karayılan, who is also a member of the PKK's executive committee, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan asked the Kurdish movement through contacts for a ceasefire inside northern Kurdistan. In return, the PKK was offered a "free hand" in other parts of Kurdistan. Below we publish the first part of the slightly shortened interview in English translation

The June 5 incident in Metîna is currently at the center of the Kurdish agenda. A convoy of KDP forces attempted to enter the guerrilla area on the day in question. Meanwhile, an explosion occurred. The HPG denied any involvement, but the KDP nevertheless blames the PKK guerrillas for this attack. What is behind this incident?

The phase we are currently experiencing is an important stage in the struggle of the Kurdish people. The enemy is making insidious plans against this struggle. It is common knowledge that Rêber Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) declared a ceasefire in North Kurdistan in 2013 [in the course of the peace negotiations between the Turkish government and the PKK].

This ceasefire lasted for about two and a half years. However, the Turkish state recognized that this strengthened the Kurds' hand in the Middle East. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan decided to overturn the negotiation table, even though the talks had reached a certain level. Immediately afterwards, he allied himself with people like Devlet Bahçeli and Doğu Perinçek, who were openly hostile to the Kurds, and launched a full-scale attack against our movement.

The aim was first to crush the PKK and then to eliminate the achievements of the entire Kurdish people. This is the intention of this new concept: to destroy the achievements of the Kurds in the entire region. Within this framework, a far-reaching war has been raging against us for six years.

At the beginning of this year, the intensity of the war has greatly increased. The first thing to mention is that the torture of Rêber Apo on Imrali continues. For some time now, all communication with him has been prevented. In parallel, the Turkish state is using psychological warfare against our movement.

Tens of thousands of our friends are imprisoned and tortured in the regime's dungeons. Arrest operations against our people take place every day, as well as military operations in all parts of North Kurdistan. These include the operations in Garzan, Van, Mardin and Botan, which have been ongoing since the spring and have led to casualties in our ranks. These developments can be followed on a daily basis in the media. The Turkish state's occupation plan in South Kurdistan has also been progressing step by step for three years.

The basic idea behind this is to first occupy some regions in order to then settle permanently in southern Kurdistan. The invasion of Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn was initiated after previously occupying some areas in Heftanîn and Xakurke. As of today, this occupation attack has been going on for 48 days. I am talking about a comprehensive attack on us.

The regions in Southern Kurdistan dominated by our friends, for example, are being flown over by some 30 reconnaissance drones for 24 hours. Airstrikes by fighter jets take place continuously. Sometimes it hits Maxmur and sometimes other areas. By that I mean that it is a continuous attack against us. In a situation like this, in the middle of a high-intensity battle, why would we open a new war front by attacking the peshmerga? Would this be wise? Not at all.

Peshmerga not attacked by guerrillas

This would be extremely unwise, especially in a region like Metîna. It would even be beyond sense and logic to open a second front against the peshmerga there while the war is at its height in the north. We firmly reject the claim that we attacked the convoy. After all, the guerrillas have not taken leave of their senses. The intention behind the incident is to trigger a war between the peshmerga and the guerrilla.

There were no instructions from our side to attack peshmerga forces. No such decisions have been made, nor have there been any activities in this direction. An internal Kurdish war is tantamount to a catastrophe for us. We see it as the biggest possible mistake that we do not want to make under any circumstances. But it is obvious that there is a set-up going on here.

We are only too well aware that a war among Kurds at a sensitive time like this will lead to great darkness. This is in the interest of neither Kurdish movement nor the Kurdish people. In this regard, the incident that took place in Metîna should be fully clarified. It makes no sense to enter this region at four o'clock in the morning with two military columns in attack position.

It is a military area dominated by the guerrillas and has not been entered by the peshmerga for 25 years. Dialogue [with the guerrillas] could have been established in advance. It is said that the peshmerga simply wanted to fulfill their normal duties. Of course, we wonder why we were not informed.

What can it be about driving up to Metîna with a hundred vehicles without notice? Of course, they [peshmerga] now say they are the dominant force and don't have to ask anyone for permission to move troops. That may be so, but five kilometers away there is an intense war going on. You have to position yourselves elsewhere.

Why are you helping the Turkish state? Okay, you are the dominant force in the region, but the war is creating extraordinary conditions. While fighter jets bomb everything to rubble, you concentrate your troops behind our front. Is this compatible with humanity, with a Kurdish attitude? Can there be a logical explanation for this behavior? It is claimed that the guerrillas attacked a passing convoy. This does not correspond to the truth.

Let me mention that we have friends who are making themselves available as mediators. We live in the 21st century, our motto is that all humanity resolves its conflicts through dialogue. So why can't we have a mutual dialogue among ourselves and solve existing problems? For what reasons do we rely on military means and attacks as if from nowhere, instead of the word? Who and what does this action serve?

Why were there military activities if the communication channels were open?

We ask ourselves the same question. In the northern areas of Metîna, at the Zendûra hill, in Çemço, in Qela Bêdewê in the Zap region and at Girê Mervanis in Avaşîn, the Turkish army is at an impasse. The wave of attacks has been broken, the occupiers cannot advance. The Kurdish people can only be proud of the resistance that these young men and women are putting up there with new methods against war planes, tanks, shells and chemical agents. This situation is new in the history of Kurdish resistance and basically the harbinger of new achievements for our people.

In Zendûra, the Turkish enemy is currently trying to penetrate the guerrillas' tunnels. To do so, it is relying on the Kurdish card. Collaborators within the village guard association in Sêgirkê are being used. Attempts to infiltrate the tunnels have so far been unsuccessful. In other words, Kurds are once again being used for the interests of the Turkish state. There are only enough examples of this in the history of the Kurds.

Dogs equipped with cameras are also being used to penetrate the guerrilla tunnel systems. However, the resistance remains unbroken, and the Turkish state is stuck. Now, if we take all of these points into account, we conclude that the KDP's military activities are directed against the guerrilla resistance at Zendûra. The KDP may disagree with this, but in fact it boils down to this.

Personally, I was disappointed to see Kurdish forces stabbing us in the back during our struggle against a Turkish invasion. I hope that the leaders of the KDP will become aware of this reality. This behavior cannot express a moral stance. It contradicts the traditions of the Kurdish people. After all, we are defending ourselves against a war. If you do not stand by us, at least you should not open a new front against us.

Hulusi Akar calls for Peshmerga involvement in the war

Let me turn to another matter: We have information that [Turkish Defense Minister] Hulusi Akar has demanded that the KDP leadership involve the peshmerga in this war. On May 20, there was a meeting of KDP officials in this regard. We do not know exactly what was decided. That would not have to be mentioned here anyway.

What I can disclose in any case-actually, I would have preferred to discuss this with Massoud Barzani or another KDP official-is that the Turkish state, or Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, contacted us a few months ago through a friendly delegation and asked us to announce a ceasefire within North Kurdistan. In return, we would be given a free hand in the other parts of Kurdistan. What does that mean in concrete terms?

'Proclaim a ceasefire for us and fight against the KDP, with whom you have problems anyway'. The enemy is playing its games, and we must pay full attention to them. The Turkish state has always played the Kurds against each other in order to provoke internal Kurdish conflicts. This is how this state came into being, and this is also how it can maintain itself.

Kurdish history is littered with unkept promises to us Kurds - whether in the days of the Ottoman Empire or the Republic of Turkey. This fact should be emphasized again on this occasion. One does not even need to look far back into the past. In 1999, for example, Rêber Apo was captured and extradited to Turkey as the result of an international plot.

At the time, the Turkish state rejoiced that the PKK was finished. When we stopped the war, the red line was drawn to the leadership of South Kurdistan. Why? In order not to reserve space for relations. When did this line disappear again? When the Turkish state suffered a defeat in the Zap region in 2008. The state realized that it would not succeed in South Kurdistan all on its own.

We do not want an intra-Kurdish war

On Stêrk TV on Thursday evening, Murat Karayılan, the commander-in-chief of the HPG Central Headquarters and a member of the PKK Executive Committee, assessed the current situation in Southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The second part of the interview is mainly about the developments between different Kurdish forces

You have indicated that KDP forces want to enter the Metina region. Where are they currently located and what is their goal in doing so?

There is an area in Metina that divides the region in half. They have settled there in seven places. These are places in the direct vicinity of our forces. We have received messages to that effect today. They are 200 to 300 meters away from our forces. Of course, the friends asked what to do. We told them to wait and see what they do. It is a really delicate situation.

Does that mean they are setting up fortified positions there?

Of course, they build positions. They work with excavators, graders and so on. These positions are being built in the direction of our forces. We have also received information that they have made a deal with the Iraqi Government. We don't know at what level this deal was made, but they want to conduct an operation together with Iraqi forces against the Çarçela hill.

Is this hill under the control of the guerrillas?

Yes, the guerrillas have been there for years. The guerrillas are not backing down because of military force or threats. That is not our attitude. We want our people to know this. In any case, it is the natural right of the guerrillas to defend themselves when they are attacked. In this regard, it is a very sensitive issue. What good will it do the Kurdish people if a second front is opened against us? No one will benefit from this except the Turkish state.

They are asking us now what we have to do here. We have been here for 40 years and they are asking this now? Why didn't they ask that before? Masoud Barzani also played a role in the 2013 ceasefire agreement. At that time, we withdrew to the south with everyone's knowledge and consent. And what did the Turkish state do then? It ended the peace process and tried to wipe us out through war.

They attacked us in the north, in the south and everywhere. There is a dialectic in Kurdistan. We didn't divide Kurdistan into four parts, the enemy did that. What areas did the peshmerga use when they fought in the 1960s and 1970s? Mostly the north. They used Çukurca, Şemdinli, Mount Cudi and many other areas. It is about this dialectic.

We have been here for 40 years. Now it strikes them that they should be able to rule here and go everywhere freely. We accept that, okay, they are the dominant force here. We don't say anything about that. But it is currently already an extraordinary situation. Such military actions in such a situation do not serve the Kurdish cause. On the contrary, they lead to very dangerous consequences.

As I said before, we do not want Kurds to use weapons against each other. We think an intra-Kurdish war is a mistake. That cannot be in the interest of the Kurdish people. That is why we are telling them to stay a little further away from us in this current phase. These areas are important to us. The situation in Metina is very dangerous. There could be problematic consequences at any time because of the tensions. In this regard, I appeal above all to the KNK (Kurdistan National Congress).

The KNK has made considerable efforts toward intra-Kurdish unity. In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude and congratulations to it. I appeal to all political parties in Kurdistan; the situation is serious. We do not want it to become a problem. At the moment, the KDP units are right next to our friends. Any moment there can be consequences that we, our people and our friends do not want. Therefore, I ask all parties and Kurdish forces not to be silent and to intervene in this issue.

They should say where the PKK is claimed to have attacked

I appeal to KDP, KNK, Gorran, Yek-Girtû, Komala, Zahmetkeşan and all other parties, intellectuals, artists and civil society organizations: They must be sensitive to the current situation and develop an attitude. Some areas may not be accessible, but Metina is open. There is a road there. They can come and see the situation. Let them decide for themselves who is right and who is wrong. We have never been against the regional government. But as I said, there is a dialectic in Kurdistan. At the moment, an extraordinary war is taking place.

The enemy is attacking us with all their might. They must at least listen to their conscience a little bit. I appeal to all those who have a conscience. I appeal to all democratic and patriotic people and to those who do not want an intra-Kurdish war. It cannot go on like this. We are fighting against the enemy. We are fighting against the Turkish invasion. At such a stage, a war among Kurds cannot serve the people. But even though we say that, they claim "PKK has attacked". Where did the PKK attack? I appeal to everyone: there are still possibilities. It has not come to war yet.

At this stage, everyone should say "stop" to the current situation. Our party and Rêber Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) never wanted such a war. What does the Turkish state say? It says, "They are all tribes, they kill each other, they are not a nation." This view would be confirmed by an internal Kurdish war. However, we are in the 21st century and there are ways to deal with such a situation.

You must come together, talk to each other and solve the problems. If we cannot come together, then there are mediators. We cannot have this situation. We are fighting against the Turkish state at the moment. We are confident and we are not afraid of the fight. We are only afraid of an intra-Kurdish war. I maintain that we will defeat this enemy. The 46 days of war so far are proof of this. The enemy cannot advance and take positions as it wants. He attacks everywhere with artillery and jets, but we have made the necessary preparations. We know its sensitive points and we have cornered it.

I get news from the hills where Turkish soldiers are. There is chaos there. We are fighting against such an enemy. Okay, the KDP does not support us, but it should not stand in our way or put itself in a position that creates new dangers. It has done nothing for decades, let it wait a little longer. When things settle down, then it can come and we can talk about whatever it wants. When the time comes and if we refuse, then it would be in the right. If it is not going to support us, then it should at least do that.

I also appeal specifically to the people of Behdinan. They are an honorable population that has made sacrifices. We know that many villages are being evacuated and bombed. We are sad and angry about this. But this enemy wants to attack and destroy us. Think about what other atrocities such an enemy could possibly commit in Kurdistan. Therefore, the intellectuals of the Kurdish people should take the initiative in this situation and prevent an intra-Kurdish conflict.

KDP Politburo Secretary Fazil Mirani has insulted the PKK as a "hired organization". What do you have to say about this insult?

The KDP believes that people in Duhok believe everything it tells them, but the people there are intellectual, they read, research and follow social media. You cannot make the people there agree with these words. Who is supposed to have "hired" the PKK? Iran? Iran is killing our comrades every day. Two weeks ago, four comrades were killed in Selmas. The repression against us continues.

The Turkish state, as the biggest occupying power, is constantly attacking us. Or do they mean Iraq? Then how can it be that they are conducting a joint operation with Iraq. Then who should have hired us? When you say a word, you should know what it means.

We sacrifice ourselves for this country. We have no home, no property, no family like them. We have tied our lives to this people. I and all my comrades have left behind everything material. We take it all upon ourselves for the future of this people. We are independent. No one has the right to say such things. But I believe that all our people and especially the people of Behdinan know very well what the truth is, who this person is and who we are. It is known how we live. Some say, ‘They are against the Kurds’. And how can that be?

This struggle has given will and strength to the Kurdish people. We fight for the existence of the Kurdish people. We talk about peace to the enemy, but no peace comes, we say they should stop, but they don't stop. They say, "We will kill you. Wherever you go, we will come after you’. We are resisting this. Anyone who has a conscience and dignity and wants democracy can only call this assertion ‘mercilessness’.

The Turkish state is attacking massively, destroying villages, burning forests, but they don't say a word about these attacks. It is enough with how they are washing the Turkish state clean. This state is a dirty regime and an enemy of the Kurdish people. In Turkey, this government has forged an alliance against the Kurdish people. They can only unite under the paradigm of hostility to the Kurds.

There is a very dangerous aspect to this statement. It looks like they have decided to go to war. I appeal to them and say this is the wrong decision. Currently, there is a media agitation against the PKK in the south, asking where the PKK came from and asserting that the PKK is a burden for the south.

"We did not bring the war to the South, the enemy came here"

Even before the PKK, the Turkish state refused to recognize the South. The Algiers Agreement was not concluded between two states alone. The Turkish state was also behind the scenes and intervened at the time. There are documents to this effect. They legitimize the Turkish state and accuse the PKK of destroying everything and bringing war to the South.

We did not bring the war to the South, the enemy came here. He is fighting against us in Dersim, Amed and Botan, everywhere in the North, but it does not stop there and come to the South. It has decided to go against the Kurds everywhere.

Shame on the people who think, ‘The Turkish state is attacking the PKK, the PKK is weakened, so let's shoot it in the back and liquidate it’. The PKK is not going to disappear. The PKK is an ideological movement, it was founded with the blood of Kurdish young people. Millions of people sympathize with the PKK. Does he (Fazil Mirani) think that the Kurdish people would forgive him such an insult?

On the other hand, if the PKK were to disappear or be hit hard, then the PUK would be next in line, and finally the KDP. No one should be mistaken. The PKK is being attacked because it protects the identity of the Kurdish people. It is said ‘We did not destroy the Kurdish identity in Turkey and Abdullah Öcalan appeared. As a result, everyone rose up, so he is to blame for everything’. And for that, Rêber Apo is being tortured.

Everyone knows that we came here under an agreement and we have been here for 40 years. In 1995, we had an agreement that said the PKK's areas are Heftanin, Zap and Xakurke. In 2013, we withdrew to these areas with permission. Moreover, the PKK does not come from Africa.

The PKK was in Behdinan during the 1991 uprising in the Begova and Batufa areas, where the first bullet was fired against the Saddam regime. The government representative of that time can confirm that. We did not only defend Kirkuk, Maxmur and Shengal against ISIS. This happened before. The PKK is also Kurdish. It is right when they (the KDP) say, ‘We are responsible here’, and they are. But there are some mountains where the PKK has been present for 40 years. If they want to come, let them do it, but for what? It is as if they control all of Kurdistan and all that is left are these mountains.

There is no such thing. That is why we think this issue is important. We are trying to stop this war. They must stop defaming the PKK. It is not in their interest to blackmail the PKK, to portray the PKK as mercenaries and to fight them. This is also dangerous for the future of the KDP. They must give up this policy.

The HPG recently issued a call for a delegation to investigate the incident in Metina. It is claimed that the peshmergas were murdered by the PKK. Is this claim true or not? What happened there?

According to the official reports of our forces on the ground and the images, the incident is described as follows: A platoon of these forces (the KDP) moves in this direction from Kani Masi, a platoon from Amadiya. Our friends fire warning shots to stop them. But they do not stop and continue. Then a vehicle explodes. We looked at it and investigated the incident. Our forces did not use any weapon that could destroy such an armored vehicle and kill those. Our friends there were surprised themselves how it happened. At the same time, five or six reconnaissance planes were in the air. We did not attack this vehicle. Now it is said that the PKK admitted to firing. Yes, we fired warning shots, but with individual firearms. We are not talking about weapons that destroy and penetrate armored vehicles. It looks like a missile was used against these forces.

To this end, we have called for the formation of a delegation from both sides or an independent delegation to come to this region for a technical investigation. We did not attack those people. We suspect that the attack was a planned provocation. We want this to be investigated. There is no need to deny it. Above all, for the people who lost their lives in this incident, the event must also be clarified. These are innocent people. We noticed that most of them did not know where to go.

Of course, these people who lost their lives are innocent and should be considered as martyrs. My condolences go out to their families and relatives and I wish the wounded a speedy recovery. We were deeply saddened by the incident. It was not what anyone wanted. We do not want a war between Kurdish forces. But that is what happened in this case. That is why we want it to be investigated.

Media close to KDP first reported that the vehicle had been attacked from an airplane. Then we said, ‘Right, warning shots were fired, but there was also such an incident’. Then they immediately changed the version and claimed that the PKK had attacked. This is an injustice to the PKK. The public and the people of South Kurdistan should really be aware of this. Our way of life and our position are clear. We live as Kurds and we are there for the Kurds. We want the incident to be clarified. We are ready to do whatever is necessary for that. We want to know if this vehicle exploded or was attacked from the air. But it looks like there was an air attack. That is why the case has to be clarified.

In conclusion, is there anything you would like to say?

This phase is a very important stage in the struggle of our people. It is a matter of to be or not to be. Everyone should be aware of this. The Turkish state has decided to carry out a genocide against the Kurdish people. This is the concept of the enemy. It is not a problem between parties. We have to solve the problems between parties in the face of the great danger.

Turkish fascism puts the existence and future of the Kurdish people in great danger. The Turkish state wants to completely destroy all the achievements of the Kurdish people. I think it is important to create a common basis now. Even if national unity is not achieved, we must never harm each other. We think this is very important.

I am not saying that we are perfect. We can also have shortcomings. I also have some criticism that our friends often don't quite live up to what they are talking about or that they do it too late. Also, we can't answer some things outrightly. We are not saying that we are perfect, but we are pursuing a strategy to liberate the Kurdish people. Anyone who has criticism of us can voice it, but it is unacceptable to fight against us. In this context, I would like to emphasize once again that all Kurds in the north, south, west and east are sensitively following this process in our country and in Kurdish politics and are taking a stand. Let them voice their criticism. We want the Kurds to be a force in the region. The Kurdish people have the right to live freely in this country. The Turkish state wants to destroy this right.

But we want to fight against the attacks of the Turkish state and win at any cost. If we break the fascist wave of the Turkish state, not only Kurdistan but also Turkey will be freed from the clutches of these fascists. When that happens, the current threat to the Arab, Syriac, Syrian people and everyone else in the region will be eliminated. We are proud of the ongoing resistance to the Turkish occupation.

Whatever is done to this end is meaningful. We are determined and will win this struggle for the Kurdish people and all pro-democracy forces. This is our hope and our conviction.

Of course, we ask for everyone's support in this matter. We want everyone to stand up for the creation of unity and togetherness in this national matter. But whoever does injustice, the Kurdish people must oppose him. In this historic phase, we will lead the cause of the Kurdish people to success. Even though we are experiencing hostile attacks and problems at the moment, we also have the opportunity to succeed. We believe that the future belongs to Kurdistan.

Unite against the Turkish occupation

Reactions are growing against the invasion attacks launched by the Turkish state against South Kurdistan on 23 April. Forces affiliated with the KDP began to make intensive shipments to the guerrilla areas targeted by the Turkish state's attacks

KDP ex-peshmergas criticize the Turkish state's invasion attacks and the KDP's deployment to guerrilla areas, and constantly call for avoiding a fratricide war with the PKK. Some peshmerga even put down their weapons, saying, "I will shoot myself rather than shooting at the PKK."

In Rojava too there are those who were KDP peshmergas in the past. One of these former peshmerga is Hesen Yusif Mele Hüseyin, who lives in the village of Girasor in Dêrîk on the Rojava-South Kurdistan border.

Hesen Yusif Mele Hussein said that he served as a peshmerga in Zakho for 5 years in the 1990s. "The Turkish state wants to occupy our lands, be it Syria, Iraq, North Kurdistan or South Kurdistan. We should not allow the Turkish state to enter these lands and kill our brothers.”

Hesen Yusif added: “If the Turkish state bombs and kills the peshmerga with its war planes, the peshmerga must stand up to the Turkish state. The houses and gardens of the people are bombed throughout the region where the Turkish state attacks. All the villages on the border have been damaged by the attacks. The Turkish state is bombing the people under the pretext of the PKK presence.

If we are united, the Turkish state couldn’t stand against us

Emphasizing that everyone should be united against the Turkish invasion, Hesen Yusif Mele Hüseyin said: “All Kurds must unite so that there could be no Turkish invasion. If establish our unity and fulfil our duties, no one could stand in our way. If we're not together, they'll do anything. There should be no fratricide war between us and the PKK. Aren't both the PKK and the peshmerga Kurds? They are both Kurds and brothers. The Turkish state should not invade our lands. If we stand united, the Turkish state could not stand against us.”[/quote]

Guerrilla resistance important for Kurdistan

Berfîn Deniz, said: "We can organize ourselves according to these experiences” and added that the resistance of the freedom guerrillas against the Turkish state is an important experience for the whole of Kurdistan

Berfîn Deniz, one of the commanders of the Eastern Kurdistan Women's Defense Forces (HPJ), talked about the recent attacks of the Turkish state against Kurdistan.

Stating that the Turkish state attacked with all its technological and military means, Deniz said: "We see that these attacks intensified, especially after the NATO summit. The Turkish state is currently trying to suppress the Kurdish people's freedom struggle."

Noting that the Kurdistan freedom guerrilla is prepared for these attacks, commander Deniz added: "Right now, the resistance continues in the mountains of Kurdistan relentlessly." Deniz, who called the resistance carried out by guerrillas in Medya Defense Areas since 23 April, an "historical resistance" continued:

"The freedom guerrillas showed that they can protect Kurdistan with this resistance. We should not forget that currently, these guerrillas are fighting a struggle, rooted in the Turkish state. But this historical resistance is also important for the whole Middle East, because it is the clearest indicator of what people can achieve with their will, and it also means a blow to NATO and the capitalist system."

HPJ commander Deniz said that the YJA Star guerrillas currently fighting on the front are fighting with great determination and consciousness. "The experiences of these guerrillas are also of great importance for Eastern Kurdistan. It is possible for Rojhilat (East) to benefit from these experiences. We can organize ourselves according to these experiences."

"Everyone should free themselves from narrow perspectives. At the moment, determination and consciousness against colonialism have been rooted in the soul. Where there is one spirit, there is unity in struggle."

Support for President Barzani’s unity efforts

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani visited minority parties on Tuesday, with his “efforts aimed at achieving unity and resolving the pending issues” between the Region’s different political groups, according to a statement from Barzani’s office

Leaders of the Kurdistan Communist Party and the Kurdistan Workers and Toilers Party met with President Barzani to discuss "the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, challenges facing the country, drafting of the constitution, and relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Federal Government," read the statement.

In his endeavour to bring together the Kurdistan Regions’ political parties, Barzani has previously organized meetings. He hosted a meeting with leaders of the Kurdistan Region in April to calm tensions that occasionally arise between opposing parties.

The representatives of the two political parties “affirmed their full cooperation and support” for the efforts aimed at achieving cohesion and unity, according to the statement. The President stressed that “the Kurdistan Region will remain a land of peaceful coexistence and freedom,” voicing his gratitude for the support.

President Barzani consulted with political parties in May over the drafting of the Kurdistan Region’s first-ever constitution.

The Kurdistan Region does not currently have a constitution, and is instead governed by a series of laws, instructions and norms.

The Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa called for unity earlier this month, urging “the Kurds of all four parts of Kurdistan to join hands to root out all the oppression and tyranny that has been inflicted on us throughout history,” referring to the Kurds in Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria.

Kurdish artists call for unity

Several Kurdish artists, including prominent ones like Shivan Perwer, have launched a campaign to encourage political parties to prevent a civil war, following a recent escalation of tensions between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)

The death of five KDP-affiliated Peshmerga fighters in Duhok province’s Metina area on June 5 following a clash with the PKK over land control has taken the thorny relations of both parties to another stage. Despite both parties’ opposition to a civil war, pundits warn that the continuation of the tensions could lead to an intra-Kurdish war.

The group of artists from the four parts of Greater Kurdistan - the Kurdish areas of Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran - have come together in Erbil, calling on the political parties to prevent a civil war
“If a war erupts between political parties, we will lose our achievements. We will be the fuel of the war and things will be out of control,” Nasser Razazi told reporters on Wednesday during a press conference of the group in Erbil. The singer is originally from Iran.

He added that they all have to protect the Kurdistan Region “which other three parts [of Kurdistan] are proud of.”

Perwer, originally from Turkey, said that Kurdish artists from all parts of Greater Kurdistan can only meet in the Kurdistan Region as other parts have been invaded.

“In this part of Kurdistan, we have gained some achievements. Here, we can meet each other. How nice it is! However, the enemy is working on invading this part as well,” said the prominent singer, whose patriotic songs were used as morale boosters by Peshmerga fighters when fighting the Iraqi army before the nineties.

The delegation visited the Peshmerga Ministry on Tuesday as part of their awareness campaign.

Minister Shoresh Ismail told the artists the current situation of the Kurdistan Region cannot handle any conflict or unrest. “We all have to be united and have one position,” he was cited in a statement from the ministry.

Conducting interviews with Kurdish media outlets is part of their campaign. They were hosted by Rudaw TV late Tuesday.

KNK addressing Turkish occupation

The workshop organized by the Western Kurdistan branch of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) has started under the motto “We will defeat the occupation with national unity, we will prevent the civil war”

Several non-governmental organizations, women's and youth organizations, as well as Kurdish parties in Northern and Eastern Syria, are attending the workshop.

Mihemed Hac Eyüb from the KDP-S Advisory Committee and guests from Aleppo, Shehba and Kobani will also attend the workshop.

The workshop is divided into two main parts. The first part will address the impacts of the Turkish occupation over the history of Kurdistan. This section will be led by PDSK Secretary General Cemal Şêx Baqî and KNK-Rojava Executive Member Ebîr Hesab. The second part will concern the ways the Kurds deal with the current historical process. This part will be moderated by PYD Co-Presidency Committee Member Foza Yusif and Lawyer Fadil Musa.

According to the preparatory committee, the workshop will present proposals to the Kurdish forces.

KURDS SHOULD GET ON THE SAME PAGE

The workshop started with the speech of KNK Executive Member Ekrem Hiso who pointed out that the aim of the workshop is to reach a consensus against the dangers faced by the Kurdish people.

Hiso stated that the KNK has been holding the view that Kurdistan is one and cannot be divided since 1999. “The KNK is trying to unite the Kurds from all four parts of Kurdistan. The Turkish occupation is currently targeting the existence of the Kurdish people and its aim is to occupy South Kurdistan,” Hiso said.

Hiso said that the Kurdish people, YPG, HPG and peshmerga forces stood against the occupation. He underlined that the Kurds should support this resistance.

'TURKISH STATE SEEKS GENOCIDE'

Hiso reminded that the invading Turkish state is going through a difficult phase and has been defeated in many areas. “The Turkish state is now trying to hold a series of meetings in Astana. Its main purpose is to prevent the opening of the Til Koçer Border Gate. The Kurdish people should know that the Turkish state wants to massacre us.”

He noted that it is expected that the workshop will end with suggestions which will be presented to the Kurdish forces in South Kurdistan.

Following Ekrem Hiso's speech, discussions began to address the danger of the Turkish occupation over the history of Kurdistan. This part is being moderated by PDSK Secretary General Cemal Şêx Baqî and KNK-Western Kurdistan Executive Member Ebîr Hesab.

Duhok call for united Kurdish front

The residents and officials of Duhok province’s border areas have called for the unity of all Kurdish sides

“Their main demand was to try to unite the Kurdish sides, and to make efforts to secure our rights and a resolution to our issues with one voice,” Balambo Kokoy, a Kurdish MP in the delegation told Rudaw on Sunday, explaining that they have talked to the border residents, administrative and government officials.

The parliamentary delegation visited Duhok province on June 8 and 9 to speak with officials, including the Duhok governor, and the border areas to speak with villagers, measure losses and also understand the reasons behind the Turkey-PKK conflict.

Kokoy estimates that Turkey has advanced between 15 and 45 kilometres into the Kurdistan Region, and has established more than 70 military and security bases along its borders. “If Turkey stationed these military and security bases on its borders, they could easily protect their borders and they wouldn’t need to attack the Kurdistan Workers’ Party on the Kurdistan Region’s land,” explained Kokoy.

He also said that Turkey has used the PKK “as an excuse for its attacks” and criticized Turkey’s designation of PKK as a terrorist organization as “baseless,” saying, “It’s apparent that Turkey has not been ready to provide the basic rights of the Kurdish nation, that’s why the Kurdistan Workers’ Party were forced to take up an armed revolution.”

The PKK is an armed Kurdish group fighting for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey. Ankara considers it a terrorist organization and a threat to its national security. Turkish forces regularly pursue the PKK within the Kurdistan Region’s borders.

The parliamentary report, issued on July 7 to the leadership of Kurdistan Region’s parliament, lists five reasons for the conflict, one of them being the lack of Kurdish rights in Turkey in addition to geographic location and negligence of the Iraqi and international governments.

The delegation in the report also called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to take steps against Turkey's military operations and asked the PKK “not to give the Turkish state” excuses to attack the Kurdistan Region.

Turkish armed forces launched Operations Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt on April 23, targeting alleged PKK positions in northern Duhok province.

Scores of civilians have been killed and injured in decades of Turkish-PKK conflict in the Kurdistan Region. In the latest operations, one civilian was injured in early June around Duhok’s Kani Masi sub-district, in addition to several more injuries in May.

Tension has also broken out between Peshmerga and the PKK. Six Peshmerga died in what the Peshmerga ministry said was a PKK attack, charges the group has denied. Kokoy, in the Sunday interview, said it was not clear who was in the wrong because their delegation were not eyewitnesses and their only sources were Peshmerga commanders.

We must stand together!

Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-Chair Zeyneb Murad has released a written statement regarding her visit to Southern Kurdistan

Murad stated that during her meetings with parties and non-governmental organizations she and her interlocutors agreed that there is a basis for national unity. “We believe that we will frustrate the attempts of occupation through national resistance and the support of friends and freedom defenders,” she said.

Murad also spoke about the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)’s stance on national unity efforts. “Our request for a meeting with the KDP has not yet been answered. They must explain why they did not respond; our door is open to all parties and organizations.”

Something has gone wrong within the KNK, without the support of the KDP there would be no KNK

KNK's first president was Ismet Cheriff Vanly who worked with and was a spokesman for the KDP, however in recent years people involved with the KNK have failed to follow the initial concept of an organisation set up to represent a Free United Kurdistan

Vanly worked for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) from 1961 to 1975, becoming a spokesman for its leader Mustafa Barzani. On 7 October 1976, while acting as the representative for the KDP in Switzerland Vanly was shot in the head in an assassination attempt. Having survived the attack, Vanly confirmed that the gunman had previously been introduced to Vanly by the Iraqi Consul from Geneva. The Iraqi government denied responsibility

Vanly worked with the Society for Threatened Peoples at the end of the 1970s, and remained on its advisory board until his death in 2011. In 1995 he became a member of the executive council of the Kurdistan Parliament in Exile. That organization dissolved in May 1999 and became the Kurdish National Congress, for which Vanly was declared the first president
Murad revealed that they have been conducting diplomatic activities in South Kurdistan for two months.

“It is necessary to stand against the invaders in every way possible. Currently, the Kurdish people need national unity more than ever. Problems can be settled and resolved through dialogue at a negotiation table without resorting to a civil war. Due to the lack of unity and solidarity, the defence fronts in Kurdistan are weakening. As the KNK, we have tried to meet all Kurdish political parties, parliamentary fractions, organizations, intellectuals, media and women's organizations in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq,” she noted.

“All Kurdistan parties must take a stand against attacks and occupation. We call on the people of Kurdistan, especially women, youth and anyone who promotes freedom, to put pressure on all sides to keep political parties away from a civil war and to stop the invasion of the Turkish state,” Murad added.

It's time to mobilize!

"Now is the time to proclaim mobilization against the Turkish state's invasion attacks," the Platform against Occupation said, urging all Kurds to unite

Kurds need to join the appeal by the "Platform Against Occupation". The public appeal against the occupation of Kurdistan by the Turkish state was initiated by Ahmet Yıldırım, Azîz Mamlê, Besê Shamarî, Dr. Ariya Fatimê, Dr. Wirya Qeredaxî, Dr. Zerdesht Haco, Fehim Işık, Hêmin Kurdaxî and Sibel Yiğitalp. The signatories are personalities from Kurdish civil society, politics and academia.

The declaration included the following statement:

"After a series of plots and talks, the Turkish state, led by the AKP-MHP racist fascist rule, started an all-out attack on the south of our country, Zap, Avaşîn, and Metina, on April 24, 2021. The Turkish state's goal with these attacks is crystal clear: to seize Southern Kurdistan and commit genocide!

The state is waging a barbaric campaign against our people based on hatred and enmity. It is directed against all Kurds, including women, children, the old, and the sick. With this conflict, troops attempting to evacuate our villages and ruin our country's living spaces are also burning and destroying our farms, mountains, and forests with tanks, artillery, and warplanes, cutting off the Tigris and Euphrates rivers' water and forcing our people to migrate. Kurdistan is going to be de-Kurdized.

With its invasion attacks, the Turkish state does not hesitate to violate all international laws. It recklessly attacks the lands of other people, crossing the borders that separate geographies and using chemical weapons in clashes. Killer drones are used to assassinate Kurdish citizens and politicians. It ruins and tries to sell the Behdinan region's historical forests and Afrin's olive groves. It uses the Tigris and Euphrates rivers as a weapon against our people, violating international law. It is not only changing the demographics of Afrin, but it is also relocating ISIS mercenaries brought from other parts of Syria to Southern Kurdistan. It's not possible to even make a list enough for the dozens of war crimes committed by the Turkish state.
MOBILIZATION SHOULD BE DECLARED

It is time to declare mobilization against the invasion attacks of the Turkish state. This war, which has been ongoing for more than three months, is still raging in the areas of Zap, Avaşîn, and Metina, with the primary goal of occupying Southern Kurdistan.

The occupation of Kurdistan endangers more than just the Kurdish people. Armenian, Assyrian, Syriac, Chaldean, Arab, and Turkmen peoples, among others, are threatened by this attack.

Even though the Turkish state is putting its diplomatic, political, and economic interests ahead of other states in order to win the war against the Kurds and the people of Kurdistan, other states' silence indicates that they are complicit in this crime. NATO, the Arab League, the European Union, and the Council of Europe, particularly the UN, are to blame for these attacks. The aforementioned powers should take immediate action to put an end to the Turkish state's disregard for international law. As long as this silence continues, this state, which is hostile to the Kurdish people, will consider this silence a source of support.

The anxiety and fear caused by war are great. As known, the Turkish state launched this attack on April 24, on the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The message is clear: They are telling "We will destroy the Kurds, just as we destroyed the Armenians in Turkey on April 24, 1915."
CALL FOR COMMON ATTITUDE

We demand that, at this critical juncture in the crisis, all Kurds oppose the "games played by the enemies against our great nation" and take an allied stance.

Let both friends and foes know that we Kurds, like people from other parts of the world, have different beliefs and points of view. When it comes to the defence of our holy land, however, we are all one.
As a result, we are urging our people to unite

Conference against occupation
(98 years too late)

Kurdish party representatives and intellectuals from four parts of Kurdistan gathered in the Netherlands for a national conference to oppose the invasion of Kurdistan.

The Platforma li diji Dagirkeriye, a European organization, hosts a conference in the Netherlands today.

Exiled HDP parliamentarians and co-mayors attend the conference, as well as representatives of several parties from all four regions of Kurdistan.

Refik Gefur, speaking on behalf of the platform during the conference, indicated that the platform is unaffiliated with any party or group and stated, "There are 1200 signatories behind this platform which is made up of party representatives, intellectuals and academics.

We are not associated with any political party or group (sadly probably not true). Our goal is to unite Kurdish parties together and to assure unity of struggle against the invaders. Because we Kurds are fighting for our lives. Everyone should act with this level of consciousness."

Journalist Fehim Işık, who spoke on behalf of the Council, stated that the platform's goal was to find means to ensure Kurdish unity against the invaders.

Shex Şemal of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) stated that everyone should reject the invasions of Kurdistan and said, "This is a life-or-death struggle. Kurdish organizations should put aside party and ideological differences and focus on national concerns."

ASYA ABDULLAH: OUR ATTITUDE MUST BE CLEAR

Asya Abdullah, speaking on behalf of KONGRA-STAR, noted in her statement that the Kurds are in a critical era, adding, "Today, a significant struggle is being waged against the invaders. Every day, we experience the loss of dozens of martyrs. These values must be safeguarded. As a result, all policies that do not take a stand against the invaders in Kurdistan must be opposed. This is an unquestionable position. In Kurdistan, the address and name of the occupation is clear. We are speaking here now, yet our society is suffering. We are martyred, we are killed, we are exiled, and we are imprisoned. It is also our responsibility to fight the invaders."

KARAMUS: “THERE MUST BE A JOINT FIGHT”

KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus said:"As the KNK, we value the leadership of Kurdish intellectuals in such organizations. Academics and intellectuals are the people who can bring about national unity. These circles should contact all parties and organizations on an equal footing in order to ensure unification.

This section should foster conversation between all parties and wage a common struggle against our enemies. We must carefully read the enemy's annihilation and respond accordingly. For this very reason, all Kurdish parties must struggle qccordingly and do their part."

AYDAR: WE FIGHT AGAINST INVASIONS ON FOUR FRONTS

Zübeyir Aydar, a member of the KCK Executive Council, saluted the platform on behalf of those battling on the front lines against the invaders, saying:

"Such efforts are vital to us, and we support them. We are engaged in a long-term and all-encompassing struggle. We are fighting the invaders in four different parts of Kurdistan. We do not confine colonialism to a single state. We regard Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria as colonial powers and we fight them. From Dersim to Kars, from Afrin to Shengal and Kirkuk, we must struggle against those forces.

Aydar called for a collective struggle, emphasizing that they reject all relations with the invaders under any circumstances.

'THE INVADERS’ CRIMES SHOULD BE BROUGHT UP IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA'

Fuad Cemal, speaking on behalf of GORRAN, mentioned Kurdish history, saying, "Throughout history, invaders have committed massacres in Kurdistan. Thousands of people have been slaughtered, including in Anfal and Halabja. This scenario is still ongoing. Everyone must work together to put an end to this."

In her remarks, Kurdish-PEN Honorary President Berivan Doski stated that the invaders' atrocities in Kurdistan should be brought to the international stage.

KKP-BAKUR, on the other hand, underlined the significance of fighting together.

The conference continues with the attendees' speeches.
