SULÊMANI, Kurdistan region 'Iraq',— A close source to the decision-maker centers in Kurdistan revealed on Monday, that Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, President Jalal Talabani’s wife is the front-runner in succession; to be the first woman to hold this position in the history of Iraq.

The source, who asked not to be identified, told Shafaq news, that “President Jalal Talabani’s wife, Ms. Hero Khan is the favorite and most acceptable to assume the position of President of the Republic,www.ekurd.net in the absence of the president for whatever reason from the political scene."

According to the source, "Ms. Hero Khan enjoys good relations with all parties in Erbil and Baghdad," saying that "it is unlikely that she would face strong reservations on the succession to Talabani."

Talabani is currently in Germany and is subjected to intensive treatment after suffering from a stroke last week.

I do not know very much about Hero, would she want to take control or would she prefer to remain by her husbands side while he recovers :D

Has there been any more news about Talabani's health?

Talabani moves his hands and open his eyes, his state is described as improving.

Those are good signs, especially if he is moving his hands when asked to by doctors :D

I really hope this doesn't happen, this isn't no damn family business. Dr Barham is the most deserving and appropriate choice. He is probably the best and most educated leader we have in SK. I've heard this lady is very corrupt and what the hell does she know about being a president?

actualy I think I would like that idea, a woman president, would get international support for her.
and presidency doesnt have much power, and dr berhem salih which I like him a lot, wouldnt be able to do much there...

Hero could also get secular iraqi's support... even I dont think it will actually happen but I think it is fun to think about her being president of iraq.

How old is Hero? In the early photos I found she does not look much younger than her husband :-\
And surely, as I believed I mentioned before, she would want to be with her husband :x

I do not think that she would get much support if she left her husband when he needed her most, so that she could become a politician. I doubt that she would get very much respect especially in a culture where men THINK :sad: :smile: :-D :D :lol: :)) =)) that they are superior to women 8-}

No, everyone but not Hero, she is the most corrupt person in all of Kurdistan. Actually many corruption cases are connected to her. And why the hell should she be the new President? What kind of qualification or education does she has for this position.

Dr. Saleh is the best for this position and he deserves it the most.

Or maybe because she's not qualified? you're hate on Kurdish men is comical, if we actually treated our women like you make it seem, there would be no more Kurdish women. You're ruining this board with the way you make a joke out of our culture, I'm not sure why this is being tolerated.

I NEVER said that I hate Kurdish men :ymtongue:

Most of my knowledge of Kurdish men comes from KURDISH WOMEN :))

Perhaps some of the men change when they come to England, but they are VERY MUCH in CONTROL over there wives in England.

I could give you many MANY examples given by Kurdish wives themselves but that would be going off topic :ymdevil:

Why she, because she is a woman and the wife of Talabani? That does not mean the she is a good politician.

And I dont think that the PUK, KRG or Iraq think abaout to nominate her, it was just a false news.

The writer of this article is Michael Rubin, a Kurd hater. He is making fun out of this situation.

Yes and men according to our culture should be in control on their wives or would you rather have Kurdish women copying the english culture ? or perhaps you are one of those who think that kurdish women need to be liberated ? :-D

I'm not sure I read it as making fun of the situation, but there's definitely his overly-condescending tone towards Kurds not being able to achieve his lofty notions of democracy, civil society, w/e buzzword he wants to use. Stand up to KDP? Yeah, KDP has its problems but Maliki is far worse for Iraq as awhole IMO...

He insinuates that we Kurds do not have good & capable leaders, brave men that can lead Kurds to something higher. So he’s saying that our society sank so low that only this corrupt WOMAN can be our salvation. He is making fun out of Kurds.

I want tell this to idiot Michael Rubin fella: There's enough brave Kurdish soldiers, sons of the MEDES, to bring Arabs, Persians on their knees and especially your masters the Turks. They’re finished and are not worth anything. Even countries in Africa have more power than your sugar daddy country Turkye.
