PUK PDK discuss development of the strategic alliance

Shafaq News / The Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) , Jalal Talabani discussed with the Vice President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) ,Najervan Barzani developing the strategic alliance between the two parties and unite the Kurdish ranks.

The statement of the PUK, briefed by "Shafaq News", that "President, Jalal the Secretary General of the PUK met today Thursday, 8/11/2012, in Sulaymaniyah the President of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Vice President of KDP, Najervan Barzani."

He added that during the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Secretary-General of the PUK, Barham Salih exchanges views on the latest political developments and the situation in Kurdistan region, where views were identical on all issues and questions that were discussed.

In another aspect of the meeting, it was confirmed on the development of coordination and cooperation between the Kurdish political parties and the importance to unite the Kurdish ranks, in particular the development of the strategic alliance between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Democratic Party, according to the statement.

The two sides stressed the importance of this alliance for the interest of Kurdistan people and to maintain the gains achieved from it.

It is noteworthy that many of the votes from within the two main parties in the provincial government and opposition forces confirm the need to introduce amendments to the strategic agreement signed by both parties in 2008 to share power in the region, noting that the internal and external conditions that occurred during that agreement have changed at the current point and many legal and political developments have appeared in the Kurdistan arena.
