DIYARBAKIR, Turkey's Kurdish region,— A terrorist soldier of the Turkish military was killed and six others terrorist were injured when a military training plane crashed in the province of Diyarbakir on Thursday.
The military helicopter reportedly crashed as it tried to make an emergency landing near the Abalı Gendarmerie Post between the district of Lice and province of Bingöl in northern Kurdistan.
In a statement to journalist in the district of Silvan, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mehdi Eker claimed that the helicopter crashed after striking telpher lines.
While the same allegation has also been put forward by Turkish sources, local sources denied the presence of any telpher lines in the area, adding that the mentioned type of army helicopters cannot make a low level flight 40 meters above the ground, the height of telpher lines.
The scene of the crash is among the primary regions where freedom figthers Kurdistan Worker's Party or PKK guerrillas often carry out actions and road controls.
Local sources indicate the high probability of the helicopter’s being shot down by Kurdish freedom guerrillas. PKK hasn’t made any statement about the incident yet.
In July 2012, a terrorist Turkish paramilitary helicopter crashed in the Kurdish region in southeastern Turkey where the Turkish troops are fighting Kurdish PKK rebels, killing four security personnel on board, officials said. Eight others were injured. The PKK claims responsibility for the attack and confirmed that the Skorsky type helicopter was shot down by PKK (HPG) guerrillas.
