On the provincial and petro-dollar budget, 298 service projects will be implemented.

In a meeting with the Kirkuk public office directors, Kirkuk Governor Nejmadin Karim insisted on 132 projects on the provincial reconstruction budget along with 166 projects on the petro-dollar budget.

Jamal Mawlwd, a member of the reconstruction and service committee in the Kirkuk Provincial Council said, “The projects will be implemented in the towns and districts, and will be given to the contractors soon.”

The projects range from schools, kindergartens, health centres, children’s game stadiums, and parks along with building new apartments for the Kirkuk Provincial Council and the Kirkuk Governorate.

The Minister of Electricity laid the foundation stone of a new 320-megawatt power station which is to be operated by gas in Dubis, as he was accompanied by various Kirkuk officials.

Hasan Torhan, Chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council said, “This project is aimed at improving public electricity, which has come after a lot of efforts.”

Abdulkarim al-Jumaili, Minister of Electricity said, “The project’s expenses total $72 million. It’s a great achievement which will increase power.”

The project will be implemented by the Iranian company San Airi in 14 months.

Two private colleges were opened two years ago by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Qallam and Imam Sadiq Colleges. Both have morning and evening shifts.

Kirkuk’s head of the municipality is reporting that an estimated 6,000 plots of land will be distributed to the families of martyrs, teachers, and those in other classes.

Abdulkarim Hasan, head of the Kirkuk Municipality said the lands would be distributed in the Domez neighbourhood. The lands are owned by the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior and need to be registered with the Kirkuk Municipality to be able to be distributed.

Hasan said they have received 8,000 thousand names for the process, as they will choose 6,000 names by means of a toss.

Kirkuk governor Najmadin Karim formed a committee to compensate the damaged shopkeepers of Majidiaya Street destroyed by a car bomb just days ago.
A deadly car bomb went off on June 20 early in the morning in Majidiya Street, Kirkuk, leaving dozens dead and injured. The decision comes after the governor accompanied by Kirkuk police commander visited the area where the explosion took place, promising the damaged shopkeepers and workers to compensate.

Karim told the people that the terrorists would not differentiate between the city’s ethnicities, but target all. He also urged them to call police as soon as they see something doesn’t look right. Kirkuk faced some deadly attacks recently by the terrorists who often plot to destabilize the city to make chaos among the different ethnic groups who have long lived together in peace and the spirit of co-existence.

Kirkuk governor Dr. Najmadin Kareem discussed the investment opportunities in the province with a delegation from the United Arab Emirates.

The Governor expressed Kirkuk administration readiness to provide all kinds of facilitations for UAE companies that want to invest in the province.

Sheikh Abdullah Representative of SBK Holding said that this company works in the fields of real estates , infrastructure and energy.

Sheikh Abdullah invited Kirkuk administration to visit Dubai to closely see construction , investments and development in the United Arab Emirates.

The director of Prde (Altun Kopri) township promises to turn the town into a tourist area, as he urges the Kirkuk administration to help them in doing so.

Abdulmutalib Nejmadin, director of Prde said, “We are trying to make Prde a tourist destination. Currently, we have a cleaning and planting campaign at the gate of the Lower Zab, as to extend the green space.”

The Lower Zab crosses the middle of the town, as it helps the place to be a tourist destination according to Nejmadin. He urged the contractors and businessmen to invest their wealth in Prde, and “We’ll also help them.”

Azad Sabir, a member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council said, “Prde is an important place for tourism, but no budget is allocated on the 2012 portion.” He said they have it on their agenda to ask for budget in 2013.

The director criticized the Ministry of Tourism for ‘not helping them’. Prde Township is 42 kilometers north of Kirkuk with a population of 60 thousand people.

The director of Kirkuk 4 says the drama is finished and ready to be shown.

In a statement to Kirkuk Now, Nasir Hasan, director of the Kirkuk 4 drama said all the phases of producing the drama have finished and it’s time for it to be shown on television. Some scenes of the drama are expected to be shown for the first time in Peshawa Hall in Erbil on July 9 in a press conference.

Kirkuk 4 features life in Kirkuk and the relationships between the different factions of the city, such as Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Christians. The drama is shown in four languages.
