A source close to the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) reported Saturday evening that Turkish troops have been advancing toward the city of Kobani.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the Turkish forces, using bulldozers, have been digging trenches near Kobani’s Mursheed Pnary gate.

Turkey crossed into Syria on Wednesday as part of an offensive with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to rout Islamic State (ISIS) militants from the town of Jarablus and eliminate “terrorists” on its border, referring to both ISIS and the YPG. Turkish border towns have been repeatedly shelled by ISIS in northern Syria.

Earlier Saturday, the YPG announced that Turkish planes had bombarded its forces, while on the ground they had clashed with FSA forces backed by Turkey and with the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF).

The YPG said in a tweet earlier Saturday that civilians had been killed and wounded in the Turkish airstrikes and shelling south of Jarablus.

In Derik and around Manbij, clashes took place between YPG and Turkish forces on Saturday. The YPG said that Turkish bombing of areas in Syrian Kurdistan, or Rojava, was ongoing.

On Friday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Turkish forces used heavy machine-gun fire in the Afrin countryside, an area under the control of YPG.

Maybe I am exposing my ignorance here, but in this article from CNN, a Turkmen unit is mentioned. The goal is perhaps also to assist the Turkmens in the area?

I neither like nor trust Turkmen X(

When Turkey failed to prevent ISIS from moving into Kobane they showed where their loyalties were

After all the suffering the inhabitants of Kobane have been through, I think the UN should provide a peacekeeping force to protect them form both Turkey and ISIS

Turkish state wants to damage the Democratic Federal system

Kobanê Canton Democratic Autonomous Administration issued a statement on the Turkish army’s incursion into Kobanê and occupation of Jarablus. Executive Council President Anwar Moslem, his deputy Xalid Berkel and Bêrîvan Hesen accompanied the Education Council President Nesrîn Kenan, who read the statement in a tent put up near the Mürşitpınar border gate in opposition to the occupation.

Nesrîn Kenan stated that the Turkish state has become a support center for terrorist, and has been using these gangs to cross into Rojava and avert Rojava Revolution. Kenan recalled that the town of Kobanê had displayed a historical resistance against ISIS gangs and gained the respect of the entire world as it inflicted a heavy blow to the gangs who are the enemies of humanity.

Kenan emphasized that the Turkish army aims to take revenge from the peoples of North Syria with its occupation of Jarablus, and has made intention clear through its incursions into Cizre, Efrin and Kobanê cantons after its Jarablus occupation. Kenan noted that Turkey’s main goal has been destroying Rojava Revolution and the democratic project that includes all the peoples of North Syria.

Nesrîn Kenan stated that Turkey violated all international agreements as it placed the gangs it supports with ISIS gangs in Jarablus, and has been continuing its efforts to damage the Democratic Federal System that represents all peoples with its attacks on North Syria and Kobanê.

Lastly, Kenan condemned the Turkish state’s attack on the peoples of the region and called upon the international community to take a stance.
