Turkey sends weapons to ISIS under the disguise of 'food aid'

The weapons and ammunition seized from ISIS gangs during the third phase of Operation Wrath of Euphrates exposed the relations between Turkey and ISIS once again. The weapons seized in the rural parts of Raqqa show that guns and ammunition were sent to ISIS under the disguise of 'food aid.'

TURKISH WEAPONS

Weapons were seized from ISIS gangs in Raqqa's Mezila village, which was liberated after the siege of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). These weapons include Kalashnikovs, BKC rifles, and heavy weaponry such as MG3 and RPG7. SDF forces have also seized rice sacks among these weapons.

SDF officials state that Turkey sent weapons and ammunition to ISIS using different methods before.

KONYA-URFA ROUTE

Regarding ISIS-Turkey relations, it had been discovered before that the Konya-Urfa route is frequently used to sent materials to Syria. Evidence on these materials had emerged with the remnants of the explosives ISIS used in the region. New evidence suggests that this method was used in order to send weapons and ammunition to ISIS.
