I agree, it's too late for foriegn assistance to Maliki, seems like everybody silently accepted this now, Iraq as we know is over.
But it's not over for Maliki, hes is consolidtatign his support base in the Shia areas. Some are calling the Iraqi army cowards and so on, that maybe the case, but i bet most pf those Shia soldiers will fight to the death in Najaf or Karbala.
ISIS have no interest in Najaf or Karbala and the last thing a shia soldier want is enter mosul or Tikret or samara . The problem is no matter what maliki's next move will be it will work against him .
1-Attack Mosul or Samara or Tikrit or falluja and he will be viewed as a villain and the sunnis will fight back which means a full scale civil war with no end . Remember that iraqi army failed over and over for over a year now to even take falluja back
2-Using Shia milias will work , but it means a civil war which is not a valid option and will take years which maliki does not have .
3-Air strikes will never work and carpet bombing will only create further resentment towards Maliki .
4-Kurds can not be used anymore considering his stupid actions in the recent years .

Iran is behind all this, they know what they are doing. Same strategy as in Syria, and it doesntvmeanthat they are going to war with ISIS. They have all (Sunni Shia Arabs, Iran, Turkey, and Assad) come to some sort of agreement. So the worries ISIS continually spreading inthe region, is not yet founded, however possible.
You know heval , the hilirious part of all this is that everybody getting what they really really really wanted
.
The sunnis dream of uniting iraq and syria is coming to surface
Kurds dreams is coming true for obvious reasons
Turkey economic expansion dream is coming true
Iran's dream of uniting the shias are coming true
KSA and Qatar's dream of a sunni iraq is coming true
Yet everyone is complaining
, So you will be right to point a finger at any of the players above and you will be absolutely right .

Good one heval . Sykes–Picot Agreement was for 100 years only .
Yes I heard about that and did you know that YPG and KDP had a high level meeting on Monday which YPG offered assistance if needed to counter ISIS advances . This one made me very happy
